Foaling announcement!

Scarlet (SHNEY LIL ROSE X QXH CHISUM CENTERFOLD) dropped this morning (29/10). She finished off our foaling season with a bang! At 5 am when we found her, Jasmine had not delivered her placenta, bub couldn’t get near the teat without Jazz squealing and kicking. We caught the mare, took her to a stall and called Leah (our vet). At around 8:30 she was finally latching, and the placenta was out and in the burnie bin (sorry dad). Jasmine will be AI’d to GOTTAGETTAGUNNER in a few weeks. This filly is so cool already!

A huge thank you to Leah for coming out and helping us, Brooke for being such a good midwife, and Kmart for durable slippers🤦‍♀️🤣

Almost a year after Memphis severed her tendon, I was blessed enough to put the first ride onto her. After months of trying to decide what to do with her, we were cleared to break her in and see how she goes, and she's taken it all in her "alternative" stride!

Foaling announcement!
Nigel (SMOKIN LIL STARLIGHT x QP GUNSHY) hit the ground running (literally) on 26/9. He was almost exactly what I ordered… I’d been hoping for a plain c**t, he surprised me with some bling! Poor little dude had to follow Jane to the house, then back up the 6-acer paddock while we had to move a brown snake (hence the running!) Jane will be AI’d to WATCH YOU BURN in a few weeks. Can’t wait to see what the future brings for this c**t (hopefully no more enemas!)

Foaling announcement!
Seth (BADGERS JESSIE x EINSTEINS FLASHY JACK) dropped on 3/9…while we were an hour away getting the quad serviced lol. Thankfully Brooke was home to get him into a stall as the other Broodmares were a bit too interested in the still damp foal. Jessie was AI’d to BROTHER TUFF WOOD yesterday, and Leah (Calliope Mobile Vet) commented on what an easy foal he is to work with due to his handling. He is a little tank already and such a dude its not even funny, just today he took me away from chores for too long because he was up at the fence demanding bum scratches!

Day 12-18

The week at the Reining Australia National Championship show was crazy, making me fall behind on updates. It was an incredible show, with some amazing people! Brooke Du Plessis and myself were able to bring home some amazing prizes thanks to all the sponsors.

A huge thank you to those who made the show possible, and ran the youth clinic. A special thank you to Kailie Mudge for your kindness and help throughout the show.

This marks the end of our 2024 show season, meaning foals will come up soon!

12 hours, 3 long rest stops and 840km later we arrived in Tamworth.
Horses travelled well.

Day 10

Brooke and I both ran in the youth, both coming out with buckles. We packed up, and watched the 4 y/o futurity. Brooke and I ran in the Derby, both placing in different divisions. We moved the rig and went to bed early to leave the showgrounds on 1am.

Day 9

Brooke and I both ran in the novice, both scoring respectably. Boys all got some time grazing, and with the equisage. I then ran in the open and non pro, and was happy with my run, but did not score as I went off pattern. Rode in chaps for the first time too...I don't like them any more than I did last week🤣

And we're off on the third leg of our "show jumping" trip. We've had an awesome week at the CSRHC NRHA QLD State Show taking home 5 buckles, 7 reserve rugs, 3 bags of feed, and a whole heap of tail bags. Thank you to The Calliope Sliders committee for all the work that went into this show. We appreciate your efforts. Thank you to all the sponsors for your wonderful prizes.Thank you to Burnett Performance Horses for the coaching, support, and advice even while travelling to Brazil. Thank you to our reining family for your encouragement, motivation and acceptance.

Day 8 (a little late)

Brooke and Chloe both ran in the Barry Delbridge Memorial, both earning scores but using the run to school. Brooke ran in the 3y/o snaffle bit futurity winning the lvl 2 open, and lvl 2 Np.

Girls showed in the Novice horse today.

Brooke Du Plessis did not place but scored and kept Stanley away from the fairies for his ride. Well done Brooke. Thank you Jess and Paul for your continued help and encouragement.

Chloe Du Plessis placed in all divisions proudly tying with Corey Smith.

Congratulations to the youngest rider on the Grace Given Gaits team, Brooke Du Plessis (aged 13) on your 3 Year Old Furturity run. Non Pro level 2 and Open level 2 Champion.

War Time Frank (aka Gamble) has been part of our family since he was 16 months old. He is by Fun Time Frank (owned by Lexie Baxtable).

Brooke and Chloe have put 90% of the work into Gamble themselves. He spent 3 weeks at Gav Ware and Brooke has had a handful of lessons on him with Scott at Burnett Performance Horses.

We are super proud of the work you have put in to get Gamble to where he is Brooke. Well done!
This is just the beginning for you both. The grit and determination you show as a rider is inspiring.

Day 7

We had an easy morning, Brooke Du Plessis had her first ever reining run on Gamble in the junior horse, and put together a neat little score. We rode Sam and Stanley after dinner in the cold, and they are ready for the Barry Delbridge Memorial on Thursday.

Day 6

We had a lesson, then had to say our goodbyes. Fully loaded, we made the short trip to Maryborough. We are now at location 2 of our "show jumping" event! Horses have settled in well, and it's been a treat to see some great friends again.
