🚨 Important Update for Rabbit Owners! 🚨

We have been informed that a wild rabbit control program is scheduled for Greater Sydney and the Central Coast in early March 2025, involving the release of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV1-K5), a highly contagious and fatal strain of rabbit calicivirus.

🐰 Pet rabbits are at risk! RHDV1-K5 spreads through insects (such as flies and fleas), direct contact with predators such as foxes, dogs, and cats, as well as other rabbits. Infected rabbits may show cold-like symptoms, become lethargic, and deteriorate rapidly.

💉 Protect your rabbit by ensuring they are vaccinated before 1st March 2025.

To further reduce the risk:
✔️ Maintain good hygiene practices.
✔️ Provide secure housing with insect-proofing.
✔️ Avoid contact with wild or unfamiliar pet rabbits.

Our Camden and Bradbury clinics will be open tomorrow 26th January during regular hours.

For the Australia Day public holiday Monday - Our Camden clinic will be open from 9am-11am for your urgent cases. Please call Camden on 4655-7664 if you require an appointment. Our other clinics will be closed.

We had the incredible pleasure of meeting this awesome bearded dragon at our Bradbury clinic recently! These fascinating reptiles never fail to impress us with their unique looks and laid-back demeanor. 🐉💚

So, why are bearded dragons such cool animals?

Who doesn’t love blasting holiday tunes and soaking up the festive cheer? However, it's essential to pet-proof your home to avoid any holiday mishaps. Here are some tips to ensure your furry friends stay safe this season

🎄Secure Your Tree - While it might be cute to see your pet trying to climb the tree, it’s not just your decorations that could be damaged if it falls.

🎄Pick Shatter-Proof Baubles - Hang these on the upper branches to avoid sharp shards if they fall.

🎄Keep Christmas Merry and Bright - Christmas light cables might look like fun chew toys, but they’re risky. Keep cables out of reach or use cable covers.

🎄Take Care with Tinsel - This Christmas favorite can also be a pet favorite, but for all the wrong reasons! From entanglements to gut obstructions, tinsel can cause serious problems. If you love tinsel, make sure it’s out of reach!

As we approach the Christmas and New Year season, it’s important to be mindful of the foods that can be toxic to our beloved cats and dogs. Here are some common holiday foods to keep away from your furry friends:

🚫 Chocolate: Contains theobromine and caffeine, which are toxic to both dogs and cats.
🚫 Grapes and Raisins: Can cause kidney failure in pets.
🚫 Macadamia Nuts: Known to cause vomiting, weakness, and hyperthermia in dogs.
🚫 Onions and Garlic: Can lead to gastrointestinal irritation and red blood cell damage.
🚫 Alcohol: Even small amounts can be dangerous, leading to intoxication, coma, or even death.
🚫 Xylitol (Sugar Substitute): Found in many sweets and baked goods, can cause a rapid drop in blood sugar and liver failure in dogs.
🚫 Fatty Foods: Can lead to pancreatitis
🚫Cooked bones: Can lead to intestinal blockages.

🚨🐶 A Close Call for Happy the Cavoodle! 🐶🚨

Meet Happy, the adventurous 10-month-old Cavoodle who recently had a very eventful visit to our Bradbury clinic. After being busted for munching on a macadamia muffin (macadamias are toxic to dogs!), her quick-thinking family rushed her in to see us.

Thankfully, we were able to induce vomiting right away. But here’s where things got interesting—what Happy brought up was beyond what we expected! Besides the macadamia muffin, we found two socks, three makeup cotton pads, and two ear plugs. 🙈🧦

Happy’s curiosity definitely keeps her family on their toes! We’re so glad she’s safe and sound after her snack mishap.

A huge shoutout to Happy's family for acting quickly and knowing the dangers of certain foods for dogs. If you ever suspect your pet has ingested something toxic, don't hesitate to contact us immediately. 💖🏥
