Callout last night to a house in Coominya, with some of the most lovely people I’ve ever met! The only reason they wanted this coastal carpet python removed is because they couldn’t bare to watch him eat any of the wildlife they feed in their backyard. Old mate said he can’t even hurt a fly, he catches them and releases them outside 🥺 makes me so happy doing callouts like these where the people appreciate the snake just as much as I do. Anyway, you can see here in the video how unwilling this old guy is to bite, with slow and gentle movements usually they feel comfortable and no need to strike 🙂

Callout late last night to a house in Mt Beppo when the resident went to check on her baby doves, but found this 5ft Eastern Brown curled up inside, and no baby doves to be seen 😭 It took a bit of coaxing to get him to come but made for an easy catch when he tried to retreat behind the box. He won’t be back to eat any more baby birds, he’s happily living out the rest of his days in the bush now 🙂

Callout to Tarragindi today for a cheeky Coastal Carpet Python hanging out above the residents garage in a tree. The only reason they wanted him gone is because they have two small dogs, perfect snack size for this guy! After climbing up the tree and untangling him from the branches, he was bagged up and taken to a nearby bushland reserve to live out the rest of his day 🙂🐍

Here’s a short clip of the catch of two mating Eastern Brown Snakes 🐍 *excuse the thongs, I had to get to this one as quick as possible as I missed them a couple days prior and didn’t want it happening again.

Awesome result from a callout to Jimboomba this morning, two eastern brown snakes getting naughty! Upon arrival the male was sitting out front of the hole in the slab, and the female with about 15cm of her head and neck out. I knew I had to wait til she came out more otherwise if I grabbed him she would’ve shot straight back down the hole. After observing them for a few minutes and the female slowly coming out more, the male started to engage in a bit of foreplay by rubbing his body all over hers, with twitchy movements. Eventually the majority of her body was out, but his tail had also managed to slide down the hole too. I used my hook to coax their tails out slowly, but they tried to take off so I had to grab both of their tails at once with one hand. One managed to slip out so I used my other hand to grab him before he shot off underneath a bush. Very hairy situation with a brown snake in each hand but worked out beautifully with both snakes being bagged and relocated out to some nearby bushland 👌🏼🐍

Gorgeous little Yellow Faced Whip Snake (Demansia psammophis) from Marburg yesterday. Residents thought he was an Eastern Brown Snake, after finding out what he was they were happy for him to stay, which is a great result for both the snake and the resident 🙂

Yellow Faced Whip Snakes are elapids, meaning they have fixed front fangs, like the eastern brown, however their venom is quite mild and could be comparable to a wasp sting. They prey mainly on lizards, geckos, and frogs.

Bit of Sunday morning fun! Just down the road from my place I noticed two young blokes poking at a little garden bed on the side of the road, I figured a snake was likely there so stopped and offered to help move it along into the bush. Just after picking up the Carpet Python, two policemen stopped and made their way over to me. I explained the situation and and that I’m a snake catcher helping these blokes move a snake away from the road. After a bit of a chat and some photos the snake was moved about 30 metres off the side of the road into the scrub and the police were happily on their way, with what I reckon is a killer profile pic for either of them 😉🤣

Just goes to show snakes are not out to get you, all they want to do when faced by a human is get out of your way to the nearest shelter. This is an Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis).

Cute baby Red Belly 🥺🐍 this little fella was hanging around the back door of a house in Barellan Point. He had quite a placid nature and didn’t try to strike once 🥰 He’s now cruising around a creek away from houses to have a happy life snacking on frogs 🐸 *release video in comments*

Eastern Brown snake release 🐍 this fella was curled up underneath an old tin water tank beside some horses, and the resident was worried that one of the horses might be bitten. He was released back into bushland to live out his days happy and away from peoples pets 👌🏼

Callout to Lowood yesterday arvo for an Eastern Brown snake stuck in bird netting surrounding a fruit tree. Upon closer inspection when we arrived, thankfully the netting hadnt done too much damage and only roughed up a few scales. Great result for this happy little chap. *the only time you’ll ever see me pinning a snake behind the head is in a situation like this where the snake has to be restrained to be cut free, other than that pinning snakes in a normal situation is unnecessary.
