⚠️ Paralysis Tick ⚠️
It only takes one paralysis tick to cause paralysis. Ticks are active all year round, but are more prevalent during the warmer months. Daily tick searches in addition to an effective tick preventative are key in helping keep your pet safe. Ticks can hide anywhere! Run your fingers along your pet’s coat, checking under the chin, between the toes, paws, under the tail, in the ear crevices, as well as inside the mouth.
Signs that your pet may be affected by a paralysis tick:
🔹Change in bark/meow
🔹Wobbly legs
🔹Vomiting
🔹Coughing
🔹Heavy breathing
🔹Collapse
If you have found a tick or you suspect a tick may be affecting your pet, notify your vet as soon as possible.
✳️ Check that your pet’s preventatives have tick coverage.
✳️ Like all medications or preventatives, some pets may experience side effects /adverse reactions (most commonly vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, reduced appetite) but not using tick prevention at all poses a bigger risk. Chat to your vet for guidance when selecting a preventative.
✳️ If you find a tick on your pet always check for a second (or more)!
