🙌🦮 Young Sammy is completing our Reactive Program. This is only his second session and he is smashing it!
From not being able to look at another dog to this… mate, you’re amazing.
Dedication, hard work and consistency pay off!
Need help with your dog’s reactivity, we can help!
Brilliant Bean enjoying her flirt pole to finish a huge morning of impulse control and counter conditioning.
Bean is getting ready to be the guest of honour at her guardians wedding later this year and is progressing perfectly 👰♀️🤵♂️
10 minutes before this video, Pedro wouldn’t stay in his crate more than a few seconds. Pairing the crate with delicious food / fun activities and a bit of freedom and choice goes so far when starting crate training. Stella job kiddo ✨
Showing us her chill in a very high distraction environment. Very proud of this little lady!

Young Aubrey free-shaping wearing a cone. Something she will no doubt need (especially after being desexed) 🧬
Having your dog not only comfortable wearing a cone but in a relaxed state regardless of what life throws at them will keep both you and them happy and sane 💫
Our Adolescent Behaviour Classes (ABC) will help you achieve this (and more) preparing you and your pup for the real world 🌏
Everything from basic obedience to remaining calm and neutral in the face of loud noises and busy environments 🦮
We work on ensuring you understand how to build a calm, confident, we’ll balanced dog ready to tackle the world 💪
From crate & muzzle training to desensitisation to grooming and vet processes, learning enrichment and ways to biologically fulfil your dog are just some of the things you’ll learn in our course. It’s a must do for all dogs between 5-14 months of age 🐶
We’ll have just one more intake before the end of the year so message us to register your interest. Places are limited! 📲

Indie working hard on helping Harley (German Shepherd) with her leash reactivity.
In our first lesson, we set the foundations for Harley and her guardians to ensure we set her up for success.
Fast forward a few weeks and we managed to have an amazing session focusing and rewarding heavily each time Harley disengaged from Indie or engaged with her mum.
Fantastic job ladies!

Another exposure and desensitisation session with Aubrey aka: ‘Orbs’, ‘🍓’, ‘oi, get out of there’ or my favourite ‘Snorebrey’.
She’s a super sweet, calm, confident & intelligent little girl taking it all in her stride 💜
🚨 Remember, it’s critical to calmly & positively expose your puppy to as many new sights, sounds and textures as possible during their critical socialisation period (up until about 16 weeks of age).
🧬 There are soooo many safe and fun ways to do this, you don’t have to be stuck at home with them until they’re fully vaccinated!

🌟 Aubrey nailing another exposure session 🌟
🏝 Today we sat at Sandgate foreshore where watched the world go by 🌎
From bikes, mobility & electric scooters to prams, people yelling, kids playing, dogs approaching and going by, skateboards, bikes, people of all ages and background, the noise of the ocean and wind blowing.
🧘♂️ Keeping our session calm, positive and at a safe and comfortable distance will not only build her confidence in the big wide world but also teach her to remain chilled and controlled in these environments 🌿

Let’s talk Puppy Socialisation & Exposure 🐶
A common misconception when raising a puppy is that they need to directly interact with hundreds of dogs to learn etiquette, boundaries and communication techniques.
I’m often then asked for help when those same puppies are adolescent dogs because they haven’t learnt any etiquette, boundaries or dog-to-dog communication.
Instead, they’ve learned if they see a dog, they get to meet, greet & rough n tumble regardless of whether the other dog’s feelings or play styles are reciprocated. It’s also teaching them to value the sight of another dog over the interaction with their guardian / handler.
More often than not ‘socialisation’ of younger dogs becomes a free for all. Either puppy school teachers aren’t suitably trained in dog behaviour / body language and the dogs are left to fend for themselves, or we throw our pups into a dog park for them to ‘figure it out’.
From the confident dog’s guardian, I often hear “he’s not aggressive, he’s just excited”. Said while he’s pinning another dog to the ground baring hackles and teeth.
From the timid dog’s guardian, I hear “she’s just shy, but she’ll be fine, let them play”. Said while now forcing their dog into an uncomfortable situation and potentially doing irreversible damage.
So what else can you do? It’s crazy important we advocate for our dogs and do this by:
🌱 learning to understand their stressors and use slow, steady, positive exposure when introducing new or unfamiliar dogs or environments.
🌿 Avoiding the free for all at dog parks (I’ll post about these later) but generally speaking they do far more harm than good.
🪴 Calming our boisterous pup, teaching impulse control & not let our dogs meet every dog they see.
🌴 From the moment you get them, introduce them (in a controlled environment) to as many sights, sounds, textures and scents as possible.
🔅Always do this in short bursts while positively re

Foraging for snackos
🌧🌧 rainy day enrichment. Foraging is an amazing mental stimulation and confidence building tool, which works wonders for my timid retriever.
How are you keeping your pups entertained during this deluge? ☔️☔️
