Aunty Asha had a stinky drs appointment so we convinced her to take us to breakfast! And how could she say no when we're this cute? We got some delicious dehydrated fishy treats and puppy-cinos, spoiled!

And we have a treat wrap up! Many of you will know by now that Jabari is allergic to preservatives (he gets hives, blisters, and will try to scratch his skin off!). Rather than put him through testing (which isn't always accurate), we put him on a raw diet to improve his symptoms which has worked really well!

But there has been one thing we're stuck on: treats! Our answer? Dehydration of course! While it can be expensive to buy dehydrated treats, it's relatively simple to make them at home!

Here we have: kangaroo, beef, chicken feet, duck wing, chicken wing and chicken breast! But their favourite by far is the sea mullet. If you'd like to give dehydrated treats a go, give us a bell and we can make up a sample pack for you! Great for both dogs and cats!

Many of you have asked us who we would recommend for dog training. Dexter was trained through an assistance dog trainer, and Jabari up until recently has been trained by us. We chose to go through Candid Dog Training and absolutely highly recommend them. If you are in need of some help with your pup, Chris is the man to speak to! (He did not ask us to post for him, or pay us to do so)

Meet Dexter, Rhi’s Assistance Dog! 🐾

What is an Assistance Dog?

An assistance dog is specially trained to help individuals with disabilities lead more independent lives. Dexter is trained as a PTSD and Anxiety assistance dog and he does his job very well.

What Can and Can’t You Do When You Meet an Assistance Dog?

Can Do:

• Respect the handler and their dog.
• Ask the handler if you can interact with the dog.
• Allow the dog to focus on their job if the handler says no.
• Educate your children that the dog is working and that they are unable to pat or go up to your dog while in jacket.

Can’t Do:

• Distract or pet the dog without permission.
• Offer food or treats to the dog.
• Interrupt the dog while it’s working.

Dexter not only has a special job, but he’s also a little bit special in personality too ;) He loves a good ball throw park time, but he also loves helping his human navigate daily life.

Let’s respect their partnership and help them both thrive! Let’s raise awareness that not all injuries are visible and let’s educate the public about the rules and requirements of an assistance animal.

Some outside time with the kiddlywinks today! We grow flowers just for the birds/lizards to eat, and as Miss Luna is in the process of harness training, she has an outside crate!

Freja is an old lady (8th gotcha day on the 5th!) and loves to lay in the grass/take her Mama's for a walk!

We have a spare large dog heartworm tablet if somebody would like it! 22kgs plus, Credelio Plus. We won't get to use the spare so someone else might as well take it to protect their little one!

Be Aware - Fire Ants Found!

Fire Ants are a highly aggressive invasive species which have been found in the Moreton Bay area, including in Samford and Bunya recently.

We need your help to identify and eradicate them! 🕵️‍♀️

Fire Ants are copper brown in colour with a dark abdomen and are small - 2 to 6 millimetres in size. 🐜

Their nests can appear as dome shaped mounds or just a small patch of disturbed soil, with no obvious entry or exit hole.
Nests can often be found in open areas such as lawns or along pathways.

Did you know we look after more than just cats and dogs?

We are fully licensed to care for birds, amphibians and reptiles! We also have experience with pocket pets, and definitely love rattie and guinea pig snuggles!

In fact, we own a lizard, several rescue birds (Conures, Eclectus, Lorikeet, Budgies, Alexandrine among others) and have fish of our own, Rhi and I have a little over a decade of experience between us with exotic animals!

We are also more than happy to provide/raise food while you're away for longer stints if you need us to, currently we are raising vitaworm, roaches and crickets for this stunning boy! We give the insects the best life (don't stress on their welfare) as happy food is good food! (All are fed, aqua and gutloaded so they are happy and healthy and so are our animal clients!)

Thank you to each and every one of you who expressed concern for Percy. He is doing much better today after a very long night of wake ups every 30 minutes. We are exhausted, but grateful that our little one is okay
