HOT SPOTS
These red, moist, irritated, sometimes oozy or crusty skin lesions that can appear suddenly and must be treated immediately. They can appear anywhere on your dog.
Common causes
• Hot weather
• Allergies to things like food, fleas, pollen or mould
• Bug bites
• Stress or boredom from the licking and chewing themselves
Hot Spots need to be treated. Detoxification is important to rid toxins that may be causing hot spots. Treat the affected area but also help your dog heal from the inside by feeding fresh whole foods. Support their immune system, including feeding a good probiotic.
You can sprinkle the affected area with bentonite clay and let it sit for 30 to 45 minutes. Rinse off with tepid water – repeat 2 or 3 times per day.
