EARS AS TREATS
Ears from pigs, cattle, rabbits, kangaroos, sheep, and goats are valuable for dogs. Raw or dehydrated ears contain easily digestible cartilage, along with natural glucosamine and chondroitin that benefit the joints while the gnawing action promotes dental health, removing plaque, tartar and massages the gums.
Ears are high in protein and low in fat, while the fur on the ears provides valuable insoluble fibre. Use ears as a treat as they should only make up a small proportion of a dog's diet.
Meat, ears, and bones from pasture-raised animals are nutritionally superior, providing a better ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty and essential amino acids than animals intensely farmed. It is always important to check how the ears have been processed. Pigs’ ears can be highly processed and may contain potentially harmful additives.
If your dog is a gulper or does not chew their food thoroughly ensure to watch them to prevent choking or bowel obstructions from swallowing large chunks.
