🌸 Available – Dusty 🌸

Due to a change in plans, this beautiful girl is now available to the right home.

Dusty is a light caramel girl with a soft wavy fleece coat and the prettiest, most feminine little face—very much a mini version of her mum, Martha. She’s incredibly affectionate and people-focused, often the first to climb into my lap or roll over for a belly rub. Always curious, gentle, and easy to love.

Dusty will suit a loving family home where she can be included in daily life, cuddled often, and gently guided as she continues to grow into the calm, connected companion Cobberdogs are known for.

If you're looking for a sweet, emotionally attuned pup with a beautiful start to life, Dusty might just be the one.

🌿 Enquiries welcome.

Lunchtime Learning 🍗🧠🐾

Our 9-week-old puppies are doing beautifully with their positive crate exposure, now happening three times a day. Crates aren’t just a management tool — used thoughtfully, they become a safe, calm space where only good things happen. And what’s better than a chicken wing for lunch?

Each pup is happily munching away in their own crate, building positive associations with calm independence. Earlier in the week, we began with one puppy being fed in the crate while the others practiced calm waiting — choosing to sit quietly, with all paws on the floor, instead of jumping or vocalising (which is still very normal at this age!). Those calm choices were noticed and rewarded — no commands, no pressure, just reinforcing good decisions when they happen.

At Lovelocks, our foundation training is all about guiding puppies from reactive states into thinking minds. We reward calm, not chaos — and we don’t ask for it yet, we simply wait and reinforce it when it’s offered.

It’s not about controlling the puppy — it’s about teaching them that they can control outcomes. Calm gets the chicken wing, the treat, the attention. And they’re already catching on 💛

🐾 NEW BLOG POST
✨ Teaching Puppies to Have a Voice – Why Communication Comes Before Commands

What if the most important part of raising a calm, connected dog doesn’t start with “sit” or “stay” at all?

In our latest blog, we dive into the evidence behind why giving puppies a voice—teaching them to communicate calmly and confidently—lays the foundation for everything that comes later. 💛

Rather than focusing on obedience from the outset, we look at how early experiences of choice, clarity, and communication shape emotionally stable, socially resilient dogs.

And yes—we share how we apply this approach right here at Lovelocks.

In the early weeks of life, puppies are constantly learning how the world works—and what role they play in it. One of the most overlooked, yet powerful, foundations we can provide them is a sense of agency: the ability to communicate, make choices, and feel heard.Instead of focusing immediately on...

🌿 Guardian Family Wanted for Etta 🌿

At Lovelocks, we occasionally place select breeding dogs with carefully chosen Guardian Families, allowing them to live their best life as a loved companion while also contributing to the future of the Australian Cobberdog breed.

We’re currently looking for a Guardian Family for Etta — a young Cobberdog girl with a calm, affectionate nature and excellent therapy-suited traits. Etta is people-focused, easy to train, and thrives in a calm home environment where she can build a close bond.

As a guardian dog, Etta will remain part of our breeding program for a limited time, while living full-time with you as your much-loved family dog. We cover all breeding-related expenses and provide full support throughout the journey. Families need to live within reasonable distance of Ipswich, QLD, and be willing to bring Etta to us for short visits when needed.

We have a generous Guardian Home (Rewards) Program and include The Guardian Dog - Family Guide (https://www.breedertrustedresources.com/resources) as a much-valued resource for our guardian families.

If you:
✔️ Love the idea of partnering with an ethical breeder
✔️ Are home often or work from home
✔️ Want to be part of raising the next generation of therapy-suited Cobberdogs
✔️ Are ready for a long-term, mutually respectful relationship with us

…then we’d love to hear from you.

📩 For more info and to express interest, please visit our website and complete the Guardian Application form:

We’re looking forward to finding the perfect match for Etta — someone who sees her calm heart and knows she’s meant to be part of their family. 💛

The ACS had its first Community Day hosted by Leeanne Olivieri and Jay Oli in the Hunter Valley, an amazing effort to pull off a fantastic fun and informative day. We thank everybody who joined the NSW meet up and especially Leeanne and Jay for your meticulous planning and hard work to ensure everyone had a fabulous time. You guys are amazing and the ACS is so lucky to have you onboard.

I couldn't have said it better myself 😉

I couldn't have said it better myself 😉

A Message from the Australian Cobberdog Society

As we approach the end of our first official year, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress made by the Australian Cobberdog Society — and more importantly, the real impact we’ve had on raising standards for the breed as a whole.

While our public launch was just last October, many months before that, our dedicated committee had already been hard at work behind the scenes:
✔ Drafting breed standards
✔ Writing policy and constitutional documents
✔ Meeting with Dogs Queensland and government stakeholders
✔ Establishing a clear, transparent pathway for the breed's future

What has been most rewarding to witness is how the work of the ACS has already forced meaningful change across the entire Cobberdog community. As we’ve raised the bar on breeding standards, testing requirements, ethical practices, and breeder accountability, others have followed — adopting language, policies, and procedures that strongly resemble what we introduced.

While some may see their words and website content being replicated as frustrating, we view it differently. Every time these standards are echoed elsewhere — whether in ACS, or MDBA circles — it’s a win for Cobberdogs. It means healthier dogs, better-informed breeders, and families receiving puppies raised to higher welfare and socialisation standards.

For over a decade, little meaningful advancement for the development was made for the Australian Cobberdog as a breed. Yet in less than a year, the ACS has driven change that could not be ignored. Not everyone can match what we deliver — but watching others now replicate the frameworks we have developed confirms we are leading the way.

We remain incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved — not just for our ACS breeders, but for every Australian Cobberdog, no matter which registry they are under. Because ultimately, it's not about who leads the change — it’s about the breed benefiting from it.
And we’re only just getting started.

Considering a change?
If you’ve been thinking about transitioning away from your current registry, there has never been a better time to join the ACS.
Our current introductory offer makes membership more accessible than ever.

We welcome breeders who share our vision for transparency, science-based standards, and meaningful breed development.

🌿 Understanding Fear Periods in Puppies 🐾

Did you know your puppy will go through developmental phases where they may suddenly become cautious—even of things they were totally fine with the day before?

These are known as fear periods, and they’re a normal (but critical) part of raising a well-adjusted dog.

At Lovelocks, we’re passionate about setting puppies up for long-term emotional resilience. We’ve put together a thoughtful guide to help you understand what fear periods are, when they happen, and how you can support your puppy gently and confidently through them.

💛 Whether you’re a new puppy parent or planning ahead, this is one of the most important stages to get right.

📖 Read the full article here:

Fear periods are a normal and essential part of a puppy’s emotional development. During these windows, puppies experience heightened sensitivity to environmental stimuli, which may trigger cautious or fearful reactions, even toward people, objects, or situations they were previously comfortable wi...

🌿 Indy Graduates Stay & Train 🌿

Today we said goodbye to Indy as she heads home after 4 extra weeks in our Stay & Train program — calm, confident, and beautifully prepared for family life.

In these critical extra weeks, Indy has:

✅ Built reliable recall (“Pup Pup!”)
✅ Solid in sitting, laying, let’s go, and marker word “Yes”
✅ Crate trained — sleeping through the night and calm for car rides
✅ Self-settling — resting calmly without barking, crying, or fuss
✅ Expanded safe socialisation — exposure to busy environments from her pram
✅ Toileting consistently on her potty mat or outside on grass
✅ Gained additional social learning with the Lovelocks pack — reducing mouthing, jumping, and over-excitability

Why Stay & Train?
These extra weeks build calm foundations that carry straight into family life — emotionally steadier, better regulated, easier to manage, and ready for positive learning.
Fewer sleepless nights, smoother transitions, and a puppy ready to thrive in a busy home.

Calm now. Confidence for life. 🌿🐾
