Solace Service Dogs Service Dogs in training for Veterans and First Responders

Service life can be tough on families - affecting them mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
And it's a topic ripe for discussion at September 2's CLINICAL MASTERCLASS Caring For Those Who Serve (get your tickets here: https://tinyurl.com/2p8zabz6), which has locked in some of the best minds in trauma-informed care across their respective specialties, as well as those with meaningful insights from their lived experience.
It's where Rehabilitation Counsellor Danielle Murphy, the co-founder of Incite Solutions Group, will give a talk on ‘Psychosocial Rehabilitation for the Family’.
While this event was designed with clinicians in mind, it is open to all current and ex-serving ADF, first-responders, prison officers and their families. In-person tickets are available from $210, but there are budget-friendly tickets for our community members who don't mind tuning in virtually from home, at just $75.
For a full program of speakers and timings, please visit host Dr Richard Magtengaard's website via: https://www.resolute.support/clinicalmasterclass
All funds raised will be donated to Soldiers & Sirens.

Still available - Please msg if you are interested in this dog.

Due to a significant change in our personal circumstances, we will be wrapping up Solace Service Dogs. This decision was not made easily, but it is the best thing for our family. Our goal was to provide highly trained service dogs to those who have served, however the toll it has taken on our family is too high. We will be looking at other ways to support Veterans and First Responders, but unsure what that will look like at the moment.

Envy is for sale to someone in need of an assistance dog who will continue with her training and certify her through another organisation. She is far too valuable as a psychiatric assistance dog to go to a pet home. She is incredibly smart, loves training and learns quickly. Envy is currently 10 months old 27kg, and fed a raw food diet and on monthly Nexgard Spectra. She is a German Shepherd X Standard Poodle.
Envy will be extremely loyal to whoever walks and trains her. She is NOT suited to someone who uses "corrections" in training, as she will just want to avoid you and definitely won't respond to you as an assistance dog. An assistance dog MUST be trained to WANT to work. She is extremely responsive to positive reinforcement training amd is an absolute breeze to work with. At 4 weeks of age she would walk down a public street on a perfect loose leash looking up at me, and would stop when I stopped. Envy has been extensively socialised since birth. She is an incredibly special dog.
Envy is not free, she is available to a suitable home for a fair price. This price doesn't even come close to what has been spent raising her since birth, and the thousands of hours of socialisation and training.
Envy is located in Brisbane, Australia.
Please no time wasters, I can't keep spending hours talking to people who can't actually afford a dog.

CURRENTLY ASSESSSING 3 HOMES FOR FANTA - NO MORE ENQUIRIES AT THIS STAGE

We have had to make a tough decision. Over the last 6 weeks we have been reassessing Fanta's suitability to become a Service Dog. Our intention with Solace Service Dogs is to raise and train dogs to the highest standard. We will never certify a dog that we arent 100% happy with. Our hearts and souls have gone into these pups, and an immense amount of time, money and hard work. We have decided to remove Fanta from the program, and secure a pet home for her.
The reason Fanta is being washed out - she isn't as calm and relaxed as we need. Whilst she may outgrow this, we don't feel she will have the "chilled out" nature required for a Service Dog. For a pet home, she is probably considered very calm! She is lovely to take out in public, sweet and affectionate, and very clean, very low shedding coat. When she lays on me at night, I never have fur on my clothes.
- German Shepherd X Standard Poodle
- 25kg
- 8 months old
- Will be desexed prior to rehoming
- Fully vaccinated
- Monthly Nexgard Spectra
- Easy to groom, easy to handle
- Raw fed
- Enjoys training
- Microchipped
- Walks nicely on lead

Fanta is not free, and will only go to an amazing home. If you can offer an inside home, with daily walking and want a dog you can easily take to cafes and markets, reach out.

Stacky (8 months old) had an awesome week! He spent time with Matt servicing the suby with the hoist going up and down, and all other sorts of noise. He also went to AMX Superstores at Morayfield and continued to work on his skills in a shop. He did a magnificent down-stay beside the "crazy air blown waving man" outside the store before having a wander inside.
Stacky is having lots of fun learning to bring items to the hand, and is super focused on his human. Stacky also enjoyed meeting a lovely man in a wheelchair today and enjoyed the extra cuddles!

Do not underestimate the amount of socialisation a puppy needs to become a stable and reliable adult.

For those in Victoria, it's Thank a First Responder Day 👏❤️💙🩵

We're grateful everyday, but today we're joining in to say a huge thank you to all of Victoria's first responders. Whether you're responding to calls for help in your own community, or have put your hand up to assist with the wildfire emergency in Canada, you are incredible humans who do so much to protect and care for our people. ❤️

THE SOLDIER’S LOYAL MATE
Poem and artwork by Ian Coate

The bond between my working dog is somewhat hard to state.
My working dog is not a pet – he is my loyal mate.

I train, I play and work with him – he gives me all he’s got.
Without complaint he stands by me and shares the soldiers’ lot.

When on deployment overseas and things get really hard,
I soundly sleep because I know, he always stays on guard.

He has a sense if danger’s near – I am his main concern.
In battle he would die for me – for nothing in return.

No matter how I fail in life, he never judges me.
And when I need a friendly paw, it’s there upon my knee.

So if, by chance, I lose my mate – please grieve with me – feel blue.
For when he gives his life for me – he gives his life for you.

John 15:13. ‘Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.’– Lest We Forget

Fluff butt Envy working hard in a builders hire equipment shop. She has been exemplary not moving towards people who talk to her, no fear of equipment and loud sudden sounds, and has been focused on her person. She looks over weight in this photo, but under the fluff she is a lean bean!

✨️STACKY✨️ The pups are now 7 months old! Stacky had an incredible session today - he had strangers step over him without him having a care in the world, had some crazy dogs in close proximity without reacting, lots of people, kids running past and near him, used a travelator confidently and of course what's a weekend without a bunnings trip! Stacky practiced his sit-stay, stand-stay, and down-stay in various locations today.

This is Squid, one of our pups who went to a pet home. We received some wonderful feedback on her calm temperament, her loose lead walking and her preference for human focus over dog focus. We are really proud of the work we did with these puppies, and couldn't be happier with the wonderful home Squid has found. Wolfhouse

4.5 month old Stacky will be a tremendous service dog for someone with PTSD one day. He is great at deep pressure therapy already, and just gets comfortable anywhere on you. Stacky is in training to become a Service Dog for a Veteran or First Responder. Some of the things he will learn will be to respond to anxiety/panic attacks/flash backs/nightmares, blocking to keep people at a distance, interupt self harm, as well as to assist with physical challenges such as picking up items, carrying items, retrieving items and many more tasks.
