Todays is the beautiful Flora! 🥰
We've all fallen head over heels for Flora and she's an absolute joy to have in. Flora is the sweetest and will make friends with anyone she meets. She's the perfect dog for any new or shy members, given her wonderful temperament, and she'll happily go from snuggling to playing in a heartbeat. You will find her playing, following us for a cuddle or snoozing on the couch 😊
At GDDC, we love our members and this month we had to say goodbye to a couple of our regulars, the beautiful Stella and the playful Pele. Both are moving away from us and we will miss them dearly 🥹🥰 Good luck to them at their new daycares and we will always have room for you here 💞

We missed our , so heres a our , the cheeky, lovable Raven!
Raven has been with us for 2 years now and is one of only two Flat-coat Retrievers we have had with us. Raven is an absolute sweetheart, but more than a little naughty sometimes at daycare and at home. Described as a "Ratbag" at home, he comes to daycare to play, dig, eat dirt and attempt to eat the occasional poo 💩 He can be a little needy 🥰😝 and once the pats start, he will be upset when they stop. Despite his quirks, he recieves so much love at home and at daycare and we are so lucky to have him join us 😊
🐶Big, small, anxious, energetic, needy, crazy... You name it, we have experience with it. Our team have dealt with dogs of all shapes, sizes and personalities! 🥹😕🫠🤪
Our daily job is looking at our bookings and creating the best play groups possible for your dogs energy level, personality and social needs. It is a daily jigsaw puzzle, so help us out and make sure you are pre booking in advance. We run out of spots quickly and the more we know about our day, the better we cater our experience. We keep it simple so your doggo heads home tired and fulfilled 😴🥰

Can you guess Koda is kelpie cross dashy? Koda is fairly new but has become a regular at GDDC. She is everything you expect from a kelpie, but smaller. 😂🤣
Koda loves the ball, digging, zoomies and her best friends Portsea & Bonnie. This little cutie has stolen our hearts and we are very lucky to have her join us!

Just a couple of notes for the coming week. We will be closed on the 25th of this month, but will be open on the 1st for daycare. We will also have limited taxi spots for the 24th, 27th, 28th and 29th. If you are needing taxi for these dates, we recommend booking today. If you are needing last minute taxi, please gives us a call or txt and we will do our best to help out.

Holly has been one of our regulars for just under 2 years now and we can't imagine our days without her. Holly hangs out with the big dogs as she loves to play with the bigger dogs 🐶😍 She is also loves that they respect her nap time 😆
Always smiling and down for a treat and a pat, Holly is not like your average beagle and we love that about her! We always look forward to this girl coming in for a play, a pat and a big snooze.

🐶⛔️ Behaviour Post - Unaltered males ⛔️🐶
PART 2
To continue our post from before, here is two more reasons that we may remove your dog from daycare & why you should look at desexing your dog. These two are the heavier side of behaviour and we will remove your dog from daycare if we see these traits.
Roaming/Area control ❗️🪖
An intact male dog has the instinct to roam around. They feel the pressure to mark around the neighborhood or dog park, especially if there is a female in heat nearby. Dogs may recognize the scent of a female in heat from several feet away, and they may stick around the area for many hours. Sometimes, if there are competitor dogs nearby, they may even engage in fights. This is an important one for daycare. We place dogs into a space all day. When bringing dogs in we do so in a calm manner and avoid congestion at gates by dogs. If your dog shows this kind of behaviour, they may challenge dogs entering which can lead to a dog fight. This behaviour will not be tolerated at GDDC.
Aggression 👎🛑
Aggression will not be tolerated. Intact males are more likely to show this trait given the levels testosterone they still possess. We see intact males stiffening up on some dogs, which will cause us to seperate them. If it is two intact males, then we will ask the aggressor to collect their dog as we have no option to seperate them. Aggression doesn't always come from the intact male side. The fact is many dogs may take issue with your dog merely because they are still unaltered. This is just another critical reason why if you are not planning to breed them, desex them.

🐶⛔️ Behaviour Post - Unaltered males ⛔️🐶
PART 1
We are one of few doggy daycares that will accept unaltered dogs. We understand most are desexed at 12 months, but some dogs will be kept intact for personal preference. We separate our large dogs into two groups to accommodate this, but its important to note than just because we accept them, does not mean they can always attend. If you have an intact male dog and you are not looking to breed, follow your vets advice and desex them when they notify you. There are many reasons why males should be desexed, but the main points being:
Marking ⚠️💦
This is one of the most frustrating behaviours we deal with day to day. It is unacceptable for your dog to urinate on furniture. This is a behaviour that you must address if you wish to keep your dog intact. We have indoor furniture available in our small dog section which is cleaned and disinfected daily. Add 10+ cleanings for marking and it becomes a pain. Do the right thing and train this out of them on walks, at other locations or even at home.
Mounting 🙄❌
Mounting is the most common behaviour we deal with. Our T+C's state that if your dog is an excessive mounter, we will discontinue your daycare. Some dogs can be perfectly friendly, well behaved, even play well! But we will kick them out because in the end the other dogs have every right to attend daycare without this happening to them. In the case of other unaltered males, this behaviour will likely cause a dog fight if not separated straight away. Mounting, stalking and obsession will result in you being asked to desex your dog. If you choose not to address this then your dog will not be allowed to return.

Its that time of the year again folks 🐶😷
☣️Kennel cough can be devastating to our industry. It's highly contagious nature means it can very easily be picked up in the outside world and brought into daycare. Once it reaches our facility, it can spread to other members quickly.
⚠️️So what can we do to help prevent this?
- You can avoid dog parks and other areas where large groups of dogs congregate.
- Educate yourselves on the symptoms and signs of kennel cough (link below).
- If you are unsure, LEAVE THEM AT HOME.

💙It's important we all do our part to avoid the spread of Kennel cough during the season. All members attending GDDC are required to be up to date with their yearly booster, but we can never fully remove the threat from our facility.
⛔️If your dog contracts Kennel cough, please advise us immediately and speak to your Vet. We can then see what other dogs share that space and advise owners. If we do see a dog with KC, we will send them home immediately. We then sterilise and clean the space before the dogs can return to it. You MUST WAIT 7 DAYS AFTER NO SYMPTOMS before they can return. We understand life can be busy, but there is no exceptions for this.

A late but very special for our long term member Lilith! We have had her since she was just a baby. Lilith has grown with us and is always excited to see us when she comes in. Lilith loves a pat, a treat and a good run outside, but she loves her best friend Ellie the most and will loose it when she comes in 😍
