Angelfish are a type of freshwater fish from the cichlid family. They are native to tropical South America. They are a narrow fish with unique arrowhead-shaped bodies and long, flowing fins. They come in various colors and patterns, such as silver, gold, black, white or marbled. They are omnivorous. We like to give our guys here at Aquarama a varied diet of Hikari Frozen Bloodworms, Hikari Micro Wafers and Sera Flora. They form monogamous pairs and lay eggs on submerged logs or leaves.
Angelfish can grow up to 10 to 15cm in body length and 15cm in height. They can live for 10 to 12 years. They need a large tank with plenty of plants and hiding places. They prefer warm, acidic water with a pH of 6.8 to 7 and a temperature of 26-28°. They are semi-aggressive and may prey on smaller fish or fight with other angelfish, especially during breeding season. We recommend odd numbers to share aggressive behaviour. They should be kept with compatible other tank mates, such as larger tetras, gouramis, or corydoras. Please ask the staff for your best options.
