Trial Skills for Spicy Sniffers
This is a 4 week specialised masterclass course for sensitive, nervous, anxious and reactive dogs (spicy dogs) who trial or wish to trial, to develop management and coping skills in a trial environment, but outside of the official search areas. This includes dogs who may find environments, people, dogs or a combination of any of those challenging.
The only prerequisite is that your dog needs to be sound on Birch. Search skill level is not important, as searching is NOT the focus for this course and any searches set will not be complex.
It's to be noted that working on these skills may have a flow on effect to how effectively your spicy dog copes/adjusts in search areas, making for quicker more efficient searching.
Very small classes of 4 dogs, you and your dog will work on a couple of key skills each week, bringing it all together to practise these skills in a class/mock trial environment to build confidence for moving in and around areas with other dogs.
As part of the course you will also have access to support and information handouts, videos demos of the exercises and given your own foot target pad to keep. We also can offer optional bolt on support, giving you extra help outside of the course via phone/email/online or in person.
If you have a spicy dog, these exercises and skills will also help you in every day life. Whilst they are modified and tailored with trial/class environments in mind, they are not limited to just that use. So if you have a spicy dog in general, would highly recommend this as some extra support.
Learning with a spicy dog is not quick or linear, they have their own timeline of what they can manage at what pace, but to get the most from this course its important you do dedicate time outside of your classes to get best results.
