🚨🚨 URGENT HELP NEEDED – CYCLONE PREPARATION FOR OUR ANIMALS 🚨🚨

Brisbane is about to be hit by a severe cyclone, and DRU Animal Sanctuary (Burbank, QLD) needs immediate help to secure our animals and property before it arrives!

We are calling on anyone who can lend a hand to help us:
✅ Move and secure loose objects (shelters, feed bins, tools, etc.)
✅ Reinforce and tie down fences and enclosures
✅ Lay down straw/hay in shelters for animal comfort
✅ Help transport vulnerable animals to safer areas if necessary

🌧 WHEN: We need all hands on deck asap
📍 WHERE: Deathrow Unchained, Burbank, QLD
💪 WHAT TO BRING: Gloves, ropes/tie-downs, tools, tarps or just yourself ANY HELP WOULD BE SO APPRECIATED!

Even if you can only spare an hour or two, it will make a huge difference in keeping these rescued animals safe. If you can't make it, please share this post to reach more people!

Congratulations to our Wednesday Puppy School of Feb ‘25

We had a great group with
Bandit
Coco
Moose
And we missed Poppy for our last class!
Everyone did so well building confidence and learning their manners !
I think as a graduation class this was my favourite one this year with kids and pups all rumbling together!

What fun!!

IMPORTANT : ACTION MAY BE NEEDED TO PROTECT YOUR PET'S MICROCHIP REGISTRATION

We have received an Australian Veterinary Association press release regarding the uncertain future of the microchip registry HomeSafeID.

While HomeSafeID is not in liquidation, its related company, PET ELECTRONIC TAGS (P.E.T.S) PTY LTD, is. Both share the same sole director, who is currently unreachable. The HomeSafeID website (homesafeid.com) remains online but may go offline at any time. The company is unresponsive to calls and emails, and new registrations or transfers may not be processed.

Park Ridge Animal Hospital and Browns Plains Veterinary Surgery have never been affiliated with HomeSafeID. However, some of our patients may be registered with them if their microchip was implanted elsewhere or if they were adopted through RSPCA or Pet Rescue.

What You Need to Do:
✅ Check your pet’s microchip details at petaddress.com.au
✅ Update any outdated information
✅ If your pet is registered with HomeSafeID, transfer their details to another database.
Australasian Animal Registry, Central Animal Records, and Global Microchip Animal Registry all have dedicated website links to assist HomeSafeID customers.

Our priority is ensuring your pet’s microchip details are accurate and accessible if they ever go missing. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help!

I need to give a huge thank you to the ladies at for all their help organising everything while I was in hospital and a Massive thank you to Kim from for taking one of the classes again while I was in hospital!
It takes a Village and we certainly have one here!

💔 Lucky isn't safe 💔

Unfortunately we haven't had anyone step up to foster Lucky.

He's only 8 months old. His crime, to result in being dumped in the pound? Refusing to work. And for that, he was discarded.

We have one more transport opportunity to get Lucky safe, and can get him to the Brisbane region in the morning. But to do that, we have to lock in a carer TONIGHT.

Lucky is a friendly and exitable 8-9 month old kelpie who is dog friendly and eager to please.

We are looking for a foster home with a desexed, playful female friend, 5-6ft secure fencing, and kids over the age of 6 (he's likely to jump and knock them over). Ideally, you will have experience with working breeds, but we will provide you with plenty of enrichment and guidance to help him settle into his new home environment. He hasn't had any of his vaccinations yet, so he absolutely cannot go out for walks, to dog parks, hydrobaths or Bunnings trips.

We will provide his food, preventatives, collar, harness, lead, bed and toys. All you need to give is your time, patience and love.

This guy!!

As a part of Rescue Month in partnership with SavourLife and Petbarn we have committed to saving 10 dogs from Australian pounds.

One of our first saves was Sunny, this beautiful, 7 month old Doberman cross.

Sunny is on track to be a big boy, he’s already 25kgs and has some serious supermodel legs. He is an active and playful pup and will thrive in a home that loves adventures, exploring and games.

He’s an absolute water baby and loves a good dip in the ocean. He is a fast learner and has already learnt to sit. He is picking up other commands quickly.

I’m home with the critterz!
Diagnosis RSV plus dodgy asthma lungs = hospital, oxygen and steroids and a tonne of asthma meds.
The Drs and Nurses were amazing and have now sent me home for three more days of steroids and rest and we shall see how I am then.
My friend Indy took amazing care of the critterz for me and we are all having a rest together now!
I am anticipating being back at it by the weekend and will get to emails soon.
I thank you all for your patience and understanding !

As I have landed in hospital with a lung situation all classes and consults this weekend are cancelled .
Sorry if I haven’t responded to emails and messages this week as I have been too busy coughing
Looking forward to getting back to regular program next week
