Recently Specialist Dr Robins was by Dr Julian’s side as he performed a TTO on Tilly a 6yo cattle dog. The surgery was a success and below is a video of Tilly (the one with the ball) 12 weeks after surgery enjoying life and chasing balls again!!

Today is Vet Nurse Day, and we want to take the opportunity to honour our truly amazing nursing team consisting of Tammy, Lisa, Jess, Emma, Nikola, Lauren, and Hannah.
From assessing emergencies, giving medication to hospital patients, and managing reception, their mornings start as soon as they walk in the door. In between jobs they provide nutrition advice as well as discussing preventative care such as vaccinations. Sometimes they are fortunate enough to use they detective skills and reunite a lost pet with their worried owner. Not only do they care for our regular patients but take a special interest in native animals too.
A large part of our nurse’s job takes place when they put on their surgical caps and become the surgical nurse for the day. Before they even enter the surgery room they are assessing and preparing the patients by placing catheters, drawing blood, and taking them for one last toilet opportunity. Then they become anaesthetists, surgical assistants, and dental technicians – taking pride in the successful removal of tumours, the smooth post-operative recovery of puppy de-sexings and rehabilitation of patients after orthopaedic surgeries just to name a few.
