Virgin's announcement is a huge game-changer for travelling pet parents and sure to get a few tails wagging! 🐾✈️ How do you feel about this change? Would you feel more comfortable travelling if you could bring your pet onboard with you? We would love to know your thoughts in the comments below 👇👇👇

The service, subject to regulatory approval, is expected to launch within 12 months and will permit small cats and dogs in selected rows on specific domestic routes. Pets must be in approved pet carriers stowed under the seat in front, and will not be allowed to roam freely or sit in laps.

We have had a beautiful chatty Cockatoo visit us a few times in the last week. It seems quite tamed & sweet.

We are just putting a call out to anyone who may have lost a cockatoo, we are unable to catch it but if you think this might be yours, please contact the clinic & we can let you know when it’s here next. Proof of ownership required. 💛

🔥🥵Would you know the signs of HEATSTROKE???
As temperatures climb☀️, there are a few important things to remember when taking care of our pets this summer! 🐱🐶

Here’s our TOP TIPS to keep your pets cool as a cucumber 😎 while the weather outside is SPICY🔥🌶:
💧🫗STAY HYDRATED -Keep your fur-babies water bowls filled with cold fresh water. You can even add in some ice-cubes! 🧊🧊
🐾HOT PUP PAWS - Pets have sensitive paw pads that can burn easily, if you can’t keep your palm ✋ on the ground for more than 10 seconds, IT’S TOO HOT TO WALK! Consider walking in the early mornings or just before bed & avoid the hot pavement.
🚗💥DO NOT LEAVE ME IN THE CAR - even with the windows cracked, it can take less than 10 mins for temps to soar sky high!! 🌡 Never leave your pet in the car.
😎🌊STAY COOL - Invest in small paddling or wading pools for pets to cool down in during the day

⁉️BUT HOW DO I KNOW IF MY PET IS SUFFERING IN THE HEAT?
Look for the signs:
⚠️Heavy panting & drooling
⚠️Racing heart
⚠️Vomiting & diarrhoea
⚠️Sluggish & lethargic behaviour
⚠️Bright Red tongue
‼️Contact the vet immediately if your pet is lethargic, relentlessly panting, drooling, vomiting or collapsing 🚨

Meet Sheru 😍

He is in need of a NEW HOME due to his family having to move overseas unexpectedly.

This little man is 12 weeks old, fully vaccinated & up to date with preventatives such as heartworm, tick & flea and worming. He has a sweet personality with the classic Labrador charm & is not afraid to give you plenty of kisses without warning.

HAPPY VETERINARY NURSE DAY 💛

Thank you to all our beautiful nurses for your ongoing love & care for all our patients.

Our team of vets are forever greatful for all the support the nurses give us all day, everyday. We are fortunate to have such a skill set of nurses, who are capable of running intricate anaesthetics, taking blood, performing dentals, taking x-rays, and much more!

We are lucky enough to have such wonderful vets here at Daisy Hill Vet clinic. With special interests across the board from ultrasonography, surgery & anaesthetics.

Dr Irving has a wealth of knowledge in Anaesthetics, with years of teaching at UQ Gatton to now being chosen to be an examiner for vets passing their Australian Anaesthetic membership exams.

Meet ‘Zebby’ a sweet and very energetic 8 month old Border Collie. So when he started limping on his front left leg, it was likely that he had pushed himself a little too hard.

Zebby was examined by Dr Julian and found he was sore in his left shoulder. This was a concern in such a young dog. After completing x-rays Dr Julian found he had a large flap of cartilage that had come away from the bone in his left shoulder, this is called an OCD lesion. With the help of specialist orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sue Gibbons, Zebby had an arthroscope at our clinic and the flap of cartilage was removed.

We can happily say Zebby has made a speedy recovery and is back to his cheeky ways!

🚨🚨 BEWARE OF TICKS 🚨🚨

Already there has been an increased number of tick cases not only in our clinic but surrounding clinics. We urge you to double check your calendars to ensure your pets are up to date with their tick & flea preventatives! If not, you can purchase them over the counter from the clinic or local pet shop.

It will save you a lot of time & money as tick antiserum can be hard to come by as the season persists.

Summer is Nearly Here! ☀️

Ensure your pets stay cool this summer by following a few simple steps;
1. Ensure access to plenty of water
2. A covered area to be protected by the sun.
3. Don't walk your pets during the middle of the day
4. When walking, try to stay off of hot surfaces (like asphalt) because it can burn your dog's paws.

⚠️TICK SEASON STARTED EARLY THIS YEAR ⚠️

With the weather heating up, we have already started to see Tick patients in the clinic. Please ensure your pet is up to date with Tick & Flea prevention. Its as easy as a 3 monthly chew or 6 monthly spot on which can be purchased over the counter or at your local pet shop.

Another exciting option for Tick & flea prevention will be available within the coming months. A 12 monthly injection that covers your pet for those nasty Ticks through out the seasons.
