VetLove Kuraby has been a successful and proud part of the greater VetLove family since 2014.

Unfortunately, the land on which our little clinic stands is now being acquired by the Queensland Government to support the Queensland Rail project and we have had to make the difficult decision to close VetLove Kuraby.

Our last day of trading will be June 1st, 2024.

The GREAT NEWS is that we have a nearby sister-clinic in VetLove Southside, just a short 15 minute drive from Kuraby.

Even BETTER NEWS - Dr Nellyn and team will be moving over to join them!

The VetLove Kuraby team would LOVE to continue to care for their patients, and we have put together an offer for you to invite you into VetLove Southside - give us a call in clinic to find out more

Look at this little wrinkly peanut!
Miss Molly came in for a check up & diagnostic blood testing with Dr Chantal.
Molly wasn't feeling well, and because she's a survivor of FIP we like to make sure she's still in remission 🙌🏼
FIP, or Feline Infectious Peritonitis, is a terrible viral condition caused by the feline coronavirus, whereby the white blood cells become infected and spread throughout the cats system. It is very hard to combat and only very recently has treatment been available!
Luckily this little warrior had a dedicated owner to help her 🩷

Funny little Bella who came in for her dental with Dr Chantal and the nurse team at Kuraby 🥰
Bella is usually quite an anxious cat when she travels in the car, and by the time she arrives at clinic is typically highly stressed and out of sorts!
After a pre-op house call with Dr Chantal, a plan was made to make Bella's day in clinic as minimal stress inducing as possible. And it was a success! Her procedure went well, and the team got her home to mum as soon as possible ✨️
We really love Bella's mum taking the time to show us her appreciation! It's the little things like this that make our day that bit better, and to know that people see how much we care 🩷

Beautiful little Tilly coming in for her monthly pentosan polysulfate injection with the nurses 💉
Pentosan polysulfate is a drug that increases blood flow and stimulates the chondrocytes in joint cartilage to produce good quality glycosaminoglycans for cartilage health and joint fluid production. This is helpful for dogs like Tilly that have had surgery on joints!
Tilly had an MPL (medial patella luxation) procedure performed by Dr Chris recently, and is going super under the care of VetLove Kuraby and her vigilant owner.

When the cat is so large and fluffy you can barely see the vet!
Beautiful Matilda came in to see our feline expert Dr Chantal for her annual check up 🐈
Matilda also had her annual diagnostic blood test 💉 this is quite important for managing the health of our senior pets- especially our larger breeds as they age quicker than their small breed friends 🩷
We can check for things like: liver and kidney function, thyroid health and diabetes!

This beautiful little lady came in for a desexing procedure not long ago, and it turned out she was pregnant!
Did you know?
Cats can start breeding from only 4 months of age? And the gestation period for Queens is on average 63-65 days. This means that they are very quick litter producers, and can start producing very early! 🫣
If you don't plan on having a litter, be sure to keep your female cats inside until such time as you are ready to spey. Both entire male and female cats will roam far and wide in search of each other, which leads to more unwanted kittens ending up at the shelter.

Do you know the best age for desexing?
Typically, for smaller breeds it is between 6-9 months, whereas their large breed friends should wait until 12-18 months. However, each dog should be regarded individually. Kuraby has now closed for the day!
Unfortunately we cannot operate safely and efficiently without power and somewhere to store our cold goods.
We have no update as yet so it is likely we will be closed tomorrow as well. Keep an eye on the page and we will try and update you all asap 🙏🏻

Thats almost a wrap! 2023 is drawing to a close, and what a year it has been! ✨️
It's at this time, that we take a little step back and appreciate all the positive things throughout the year. Which includes the support of our many clients!

We call this: Pocket Cat.
This scrumptious little fluffy tabby came in for his first ever vaccines and was so brave! He was a very calm and sleepy guy, and quite happy to have a snooze in nurse Bianca's scrub top 😍
He had such a pleasant first visit we hope he will remember us and be a happy kitty at all his visits 🩷
It's always great, if possible, to make your young pets first visit at the vets a pleasant and happy one! Even if you book a short nurse appointment just to have a cuddle out the back and maybe have some treats 😋 this helps to create a positive experience and association which means less stress for next time!

Everyone meet Chuckie 🖤 So we have had this beautiful little guy living with us for a few weeks and unfortunately he is not microchipped nor does he have a home to call his own 🤍 If you think this friendly and well socialised little fuzz ball could be a great addition get in touch with the team 😉 *adoption fee applies to cover his health checks and treatments*

Here is a little visual idea of what we do to help save a tick patient. This case was only mild, however, there are different stages of the paralysis, and if left too late, despite our best efforts, it is most often fatal. Good news is it is easily prevented!!!! Currently in Australia there is a critical nation wide paralysis tick anti serum shortage! So it is imperative that you make sure your tick prevention is up to date!! If you have any questions about what prevention you should be on, or if you notice ANY signs of your dog being unwell (primarily lethargy, not eating or drinking, or a change in gait) please give us a call immediately :)
