With just one trip to our clinic, your dog can now receive year-long protection against fleas and deadly paralysis ticks with just one dose. 💉
Did you know that fleas and paralysis ticks are a threat all year long? Under certain climatic conditions, fleas and paralysis ticks can be active all year round. Due to the warm, wet, and humid conditions experienced during last year's summer, as well as the warm and wet winter we are currently experiencing, we are anticipating an early start to a bad flea and paralysis tick season. The good news is, we can now deliver 12 months of uninterrupted flea and paralysis tick protection with a single dose for your dog.
Contact us on 3397 1181 to learn more or to book your appointment. Worry less about playtime outside with year-round protection available at our clinic now 🐾🐶🩺

Why does my animal need dental x-rays? Why cant they just be cleaned?

Although you can see tartar build up on the teeth, without x-rays you cannot tell the integrity of the roots of a teeth.
This pup had some build up that needed cleaning, but after x-rays we found 6 teeth that needed removing! We would not be able to see this without the x-rays.

Not attending to teeth with questionable roots can not only be painful for your animal but it can lead to many more problems, reluctance to eat, inflammation, infection, etc.

Call us on 07 3397 1181 to discuss booking in a dental procedure with us.

We will be closed today for ANZAC day, 25th April 2024. We will reopen at 8:30am Friday the 26th. Lest we forget.

Have a happy (pet safe) Easter! 🐣🐇
Some of our Easter treats are highly toxic to our pets🍫

Chocolate information:
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine which can be harmful to dogs if ingested - the darker the chocolate (ie. 99% cocoa), the more toxic. Whilst white chocolate does not contain these substances, it can still cause tummy upset from the fat and sugar.
The symptoms of toxicity from chocolate are:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Hyperactivity
• Tremors
• Seizures
• Racing heart rhythm progressing to abnormal rhythms
• Death in severe cases
If your dog has eaten chocolate, it is important to contact a Vet Clinic straight away, with information on hand about the type of chocolate and the amount consumed. If your dog has eaten a toxic dose, they may need treatment to get the chocolate out of their system!

Hot Cross Buns information:
Grapes, sultanas and raisins – like those found in Hot Cross Buns - can be toxic to dogs. Any ingestion of these could result in a life-threatening emergency!
Signs of toxicity include:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Lethargy and weakness
• Difficulty standing and walking
• Pain in the abdomen
• Changes in normal urination
Prompt treatment as soon as you realise your dog has eaten grapes, sultanas or raisins is critical. Contact a Vet Clinic straight away for advice. They may need treatment to get the bun out of their system, and possibly medication to support the kidneys and pancreas which can be severely impacted by these foods!

Have a safe and happy Easter from the team at Coorparoo Veterinary Clinic 🐾

Autumn Synovan Saving! $
With Autumn upon us get your dogs joints in their best shape with Synovan. For those pets new to starting Synovan we have a special deal: 4 for the price of 3!
Those who are continuing on Synovan injections can enjoy 20% off a single injection. More information below:
Is your dog starting to feel the affects of arthritis?
As our canine friends age inflammation of the joints and neighbouring bone can cause pain resulting in a decrease in energy, stiffness after resting, limping/slowing down on walks and difficulty climbing stairs.
Synovan injections can help slow the progression of arthritis and help control pain by increasing the fluid surrounding the joints and blood supply to joint surfaces. The treatment begins with 4 needles one week apart and a follow up injection every 2-4 months as needed.
For those dogs who are extra painful, this injection can also be paired with a Beransa needle(pain receptor blocker) as well as supplements such as 4cyte and Antinol

*UPDATE Shanti has found a home *
Hi, my name is Shanti!
I am a very quiet and affectionate girl. I live completely indoors and I am a little bit chunky (I have been told). My mum has gone into palliative care, she misses me terribly and would love to know that I will be safe and loved in my new forever home. I am happiest when I am the only pet. I’m 13 years young but in good health. My ideal house includes a couch to lounge with you and an abundance of treats!
Please contact Coorparoo Veterinary Clinic on 3397 1181 or
[email protected] if you think we would make a good team 🤍

14/02/2024
