๐ถ Charlie has been learning a variety of new skills during his stay with us. One of which, is listening while in higher states of arousal.

We introduced this through low arousal games first, then in interactive play with us and now during play with other dogs. (Bailey is the 4th dog he has played with) - we started with very easy going dogs like Brock, then Jerry and Heidi and now Bailey, a well matched dog with similar play style, close in age / size and energy level.

Advocating for both dogs during play is important and as you see Bailey start to freeze up (or show signs of not liking the play anymore) we moved Charlie on and rewarded him for doing so.

"I first reached out to Nicole for help with my border colliesโ reactivity and overall crap relationship where she found everything except for me fun. I wanted to take a step up in training and the lovely โThe Pet Girlโ referred me to Nicole. Since I began working with Nicole, my entire perspective and goals have shifted dramatically. Through implementing the skills that Nicole has taught me, I have realised how special my bond with Heidi is and how fricking amazing she is. We are at a stage in our training that we can go for hikes, go to the beach, go camping, go for weekend trips away with other humans and dogs and more. My most recent goal that we are absolutely smashing is Heidiโs recall. We can do out of site recalls in parks, improving the success in recalling off other dogs, and Heidiโs biggest motivatorโฆsmells!"

๐ถ Our lesson together covered the "Leave it" (helping Alfie begin to understand and practice the concept of "just because it's there, doesn't mean it's there for me") began instilling clear expectations for the loose leash walk and introduced Alfie to his first tieout (aka Backtie).
