This gorgeous 2-year-old Deaf Lab stole our hearts over the long weekend. Arlo is a master of hand signals and loves nothing more than a good snuggle. We're already looking forward to his next visit!

Only a few days late in our post Saturday disc comp wrap up 😅
Last weekend we went out to Pine Agility Dog Sports Club for the first disc comp of the season! We are so glad that it went ahead after all the rain we have been having.
Kelsie - 3rd place Toss & Fetch beginners with a Q card and we are proud to say after a very long time she has finally got enough cards to gain her Canine Disc Beginners title!
Blitz - Q card with her dad in Toss & Fetch and a Q card in Freestyle skills, she now has enough for her Freestyle Skills Beginners Title
Elko - Q card in freestyle skills (only 1 more to go) and just a fun day out yelling at the frisbee in Toss & Fetch 😂

Meet Truffle 🤩
Please give a warm welcome to Truffle, a 10-month-old Labradoodle who's joining our Stay and Train program! Truffle is a ball of fluff with a zest for life, but he needs a little help managing his excitement on walks. We will be creating a positive training plan to build focus and confidence. Safe to say Kelsie loves her trip to the vets!
She got plenty of pats and treats while in for her yearly vaccination ☺️
Kelsie has always been a huge fan of the vet, thanks to plenty of exposure as a puppy.
Did you know that most vet clinic encourage you to take your new puppy in for 'happy visits'? This means you can take your new family member in just to jump on the scales, smell everything and get plenty of love and snacks. This helps them get used to the environment and realise that it can be a fun place to be!

Dave is the other half of our current stay and train family. He is a 1yr old Border Collie who is working on a few tricks and some leash walking ☺️

She is one half of our current Stay and Train program. Lucy is a 9 month old American Staffy who is here to work on her loose leash walking and tricks 😍

We love having Oscar here with us, he has done plenty of regular stays since July last year and is an absolute dream to have around 😍
Meet Bandit!
Bandit is a 7month old Border Collie, his owner reached out to us to help her with her training skills. He was struggling with loose leash walking and retrieving his toys. After two sessions he is now walking beside his mum and bringing back all his toys!
With a little bit of guidance and encouragement, both owners and dogs can achieve things they didn't know they could do.
I am so happy to be able to help Bandit and his mum get back on their training path and I can't wait to see what they achieve together!

I just finished grooming the girls so naturally we needed a photo in front of the tree ☺️🎄🎄
It's starting to warm up here in Brisbane but that doesn't mean that you can't train!
Trick training indoors is a great way to get some energy out of your pet without walking them in the heat, short sessions while learning something new will tire your dog out just as well if not better then a long walk and has many benefits for both you and your dog ☺️

Blitz has a habit of dragging her feet when jumping for the frisbee so we are working in short sessions to help her improve this and ensure that she can jump and land safely by working on her rear end awareness and jump training.
Please also keep in mind that jump training is not recommended for any dog under 18months of age as their bones and joints are still growing 😊

Our little deaf girl who started our love for trick training and frisbee, she has taught me so much about training dogs and given me patience to work through any problem. She may be deaf but she is still out smashing goals and living her best life 😍

Does your dog enjoy going to the vet or are they nervous about what is going to happen?
Did you know that vet clinics encourage "happy visits"? You can take your dog/puppy to the vet just to say hey, get some treats, pats and hop on the scales. These are a great way to go in and explore all the smells and sounds without having a negative experience.

Saturdays are for play time!
Missy has started coming out of her shell with lots of work, shaping games and building our bond. This morning she engaged in play with Eddie which if you saw our recent post is a big deal for her as she is fear reactive to men. It is amazing what patience and hard work will do to improve a dogs confidence.

Spare weekends are pretty rare for us (Jess & Steph) but when they do come around, we spend them mucking around with all our dogs (plus have a cheeky beer or two 🤪). Ending our long weekend the same way we end our training sessions, on a happy and excited note! We spent our weekend with family, friends and of course training our dogs!

I feel like I’ve taught everyone else’s dog this dog catch, but, it’s one Zeppy and I have really struggled to master! He’s never been a dog that enjoys being picked up and being plucked out of the air was definitely a no from him 😅 In his defence, I gave up on this skill for a while, proud to have achieved it now and it just goes to show how valuable a good bond with your dog is! Check it Yes, my voice is annoying on video (and probably in real life too 🤪) but, Vito loves me talking to him, encouraging him! This was his first time in competition setting. My whole focus was on keeping his focus… it didn’t come to it but I would roll on the floor and sing the baby shark song if it came to it 😂 (thank f+^% it didn’t). He was actually enrolled to do both NFC (not for competition rounds) but, after this first one, I didn’t run him again, part of me thought “he’d do it” and the rational, dog trainer thought “what’s the point? Let’s end the day on a high”. Engagement and confidence is all I care about, so, he was my biggest “win” of the day.

Our littlest team member is 5 months old! Time sure flys, Vito is still a baby, but I do miss my fuzzy, chubby baby 😅 he is all legs and ears now. A lot of people expect him to “do heaps of cool tricks” by now because of where he lives… and I can proudly say it hasn’t been because of lack of time or effort that he doesn’t. I train with him and take him for one on one time/ adventures every single day. We work on engagement, recall, appropriate socialising and confidence. At home we work on engagement, conditioning, drive and impulse control. That’s it, and if by 12 months that’s all he’s capable of then I’ll be happy, because after all that, the rest is cherry 🍒 😘 Don’t compare your journey or relationship with your dog to anyone else’s. ✨

“Better Than Yesterday” One thing I have come to expect in the dog world is defensiveness and combativeness. People seem overly agitated, ready to fight unnecessarily, and are more sensitive than ever before. Where do you think this originates from? And how can we bridge to professional curtesy, respectful debate and conversation with curiosity, instead of waiting to attack or defend oneself when no attack was made? For everyone (not just the dog world) to progress, I think this dynamic needs drastic change, and the place to look for this change is within our own selves. We’re so quick to name others, to tell stories of who has wronged us, of who else is doing it wrong - but what’s in us that can change?
