Tuppy recently came to see us for her dental procedure and senior check up. Tuppy sadly had to have many teeth removed due to a condition called Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions.

Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions or FORL for short are areas on a tooth that are being dissolved or absorbed away by the body's own system. The only effective way of stopping this process is to remove the affected tooth. Sadly Tuppy had many teeth affected.

Tooth resorption is a common condition, affecting an estimated 20% to 60% of all cats. This condition can come on quite quickly which is why a yearly vet visit is always recommended to make sure your cat isn't suffering from this condition and is in top health.
Look out for these signs if you suspect your cat has dental pain:

๐Ÿพ Dropping food while eating
๐Ÿพ Pawing at the mouth
๐Ÿพ Eating on one side only
๐Ÿพ Weight loss or reduced appetite
๐Ÿพ Bleeding gums

If you believe your cat is suffering from dental pain give us a call on (07) 3544 6828 to book in an appointment to see the vet.

We recently saw 'Cleo' as her owner noticed there was some discolouration to her urine and that she was continuously going in and out of the litter tray.

If you see your cat experiencing these symptoms it's always good to give us a call, especially if they are a boy so that you can get the best advice possible. Cats are very stressful creatures and creatures of habit so early diagnosis and treatment is vital for their comfort and health.

You can reach us on (07) 3544 6828 or [email protected], alternatively you can book online via our website.

The Cat Doctor Brisbane is here for you and your kitties day and night.

๐Ÿง“๐Ÿฑ Is Your Cat Getting Older? It's Time for a Senior Check-Up! ๐Ÿฉบ

Just like us, cats need extra care as they age. We recently saw 'Astro' for his senior check up and dental. The senior check up involves a thorough examination, in-house blood test, urine test, blood glucose test and a complimentary blood pressure check (which is valued at $50).

These visits help catch age-related issues earlyโ€”like kidney disease, arthritis, dental problems, or changes in weight or behaviour.

โœ… Early detection = better quality of life
โœ… Tailored nutrition and lifestyle advice
โœ… Peace of mind for you and your furry friend

We can also do nail trims along with these appointments free of charge as older cats don't tend to sharpen their nails as often, therefore leaving the outer layer on putting them at risk of getting ingrown toenails.

๐Ÿ“… Book a senior check-up today and keep your golden oldie happy and healthy!

'Mameow' recently saw us for her course of FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) vaccinations as she likes to go outside regularly. FIV is incurable and is transmitted through a cat bite from an infected cat. FIV suppresses the catโ€™s immune system, which means it cannot fully protect itself against common bacterial and viral infections.

Since the major route of infection is via cat bites, keeping cats indoors and away from potentially infected cats is the best way to reduce their exposure. The only foolproof way to do this is to keep them exclusively indoors or in a cat enclosure. Where this is not possible or practical, an FIV vaccine is available for cats at risk of infection.

If you are concerned your cat has FIV, we recommend booking an appointment today. We will do a simple in-house blood test and if negative, will start your cat on the FIV vaccination course to help protect them when they go outdoors.

'Momo' recently visited us at The Cat Doctor Brisbane for her annual vaccination. ๐Ÿ’‰

During a veterinarian appointment the vet will assess your cat by:
๐Ÿฉบ Listening to their heart
๐Ÿฉบ Feeling their body for any abnormalities
๐Ÿฉบ Checking their ears, eyes and fur condition
๐Ÿฉบ Assessing their teeth

Then based off this, will provide any recommendations that your cat needs. Your vet will also gather a detailed history on your cat and answer any questions or concerns you have.

Give us a call on (07) 3544 6828 to book your cat in today for a veterinarian appointment or book online via our website.
