🐾 Meet this little cutie 'Rosie'… and don’t let those big eyes fool you!
Rosie recently came to see us for her desexing procedure and she was a very good patient.
Desexing your cat is one of the kindest choices you can make for their long-term health and happiness. 💛🐱

✨ Benefits of desexing:
✔️ Reduces roaming and fighting
✔️ Prevents unwanted litters
✔️ Lowers risk of certain cancers
✔️ Helps keep them calmer and more content

Whether your kitty is tiny and mischievous or a snuggly couch potato, desexing helps them live their best, healthiest life.

We recently had 'Carter' visit us for a scale & polish. A scale & polish is one of the best ways to prevent dental disease, reduce pain, and keep those pearly whites shining.

Sadly Carter was suffering from gingival recession which is when the gum pulls away from the teeth, exposing the root surfaces. This resulted in these teeth having to be removed. We recommend regular check ups with your vet to catch these issues early on.

🐾 Why book a Scale & Polish?
✔ Removes plaque & tartar buildup
✔ Helps prevent gum disease
✔ Keeps breath fresher
✔ Supports overall health and wellbeing

If you’ve noticed smelly breath, yellowing teeth, your pet chewing differently, or even that your cat hasn't been to the vet in years, it might be time for a dental check-up.

Give us a call on (07) 3544 6828 or alternatively book via our website. We are available 6 days a week.

It’s a 'paws-itively' hot one out there for our feline friends!

The hot weather is rolling in, and our feline friends are feeling the heat! If your cat is looking a little too fluffy for the rising temps, we’ve got the perfect solution.

Recently we had 'Elvis' the Maine C**n visit us for a belly clip. He comes to us regularly for a sedated belly clip as he doesn't tolerate brushing or trimming at home which leads to a build up of knots all on his belly. His belly clip included a nail trim and fur brush out with some knots behind the ear trimmed as well.

The Cat Doctor Brisbane offers Belly Clips, Hygiene Clips and Full body Clips under sedation which include complimentary nail trims and a brush out of the remaining fur. These can be added onto any dentals to save on anaesthetic fees.
We also offer nurse consultations for hygiene trims and grooming for a small fee.

Give us a call on (07) 3544 6828 and speak to our lovely team today to discuss your options.

🐾💕 November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month! 💕🐾

While tiny kittens and bouncy puppies tend to steal the spotlight, there’s something truly special about opening your heart and home to a senior pet.

Senior cats and dogs are:
✅ Already trained and well-mannered
✅ Past the mischievous “chew-everything” or “climb-the-curtains” phase
✅ Full of gratitude, love, and calm companionship
✅ Experts at couch cuddles and slow, peaceful walks

Many older pets end up in shelters through no fault of their own—they’ve lost their families, their homes, or simply been overlooked because of their age. But senior pets have so much love left to give.
If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal, slower-paced best friend, consider opening your home to a golden oldie this month. If not, consider fostering until they find their forever home or supporting a reputable rescue by donating. 💛

🐟 🍗 Back by popular demand 🐟 🍗

We’re thrilled to bring back these locally made, freeze-dried Whole Capelin and Chicken Tenderloins — crafted from 100% human-grade ingredients, right here in our own backyard.

Perfect for both cats and dogs (3 months and older), these treats are as versatile as they are delicious!

You can either:

🐟 Feed directly as a crunchy treat
🍗 Rehydrate with warm water before feeding to help increase your pet's water intake
🐟 Break or cut into smaller portions and place them on top of your pet's food for extra texture and irresistable aroma.

Your pets will love them — and you’ll love knowing exactly where they come from. ❤️

Come on down and see us today before we sell out again—unless you want some very disgruntled pets on your hands!

🐾 Meet Pipsqueak! 🐱💛
Earlier this year, we met a tiny 3-month-old kitten named Pipsqueak who was referred to us after breaking both of his back legs. 💔

Pipsqueak had been fed a meat-only diet, which sadly meant he wasn’t getting the essential nutrients a growing kitten needs. His bones became weak and fragile, eventually giving way from the pressure — but with lots of care, patience, and the right nutrition, this little fighter made an amazing recovery. 💪✨

He spent 8–12 weeks on strict cage rest, enjoying a high-nutrient, fully balanced kitten diet, and quickly became a clinic favourite. Despite his limited mobility, Pipsqueak had the most expressive eyes — he never needed words to let us know exactly what he wanted! 😻💬

☀️ Summer’s heating up — and our feline friends are feeling it too!

We recently had 'Bossam' come in for a full clip of his fur. He had a beautiful long ragdoll mane and wasn't liking the heat too much. He also had a few knots on his body that needed removing.

Some tips for those long haired cats in this hot weather:

🐱 Brush your cat regularly to remove loose fur and prevent tangles
💧 Make sure they always have fresh water and a cool place to rest
🚿 Book a professional grooming or check-up if you notice mats or skin irritation

Keeping your cat cool, clean, and comfortable is the best way to beat the heat together!

Your cat might think they’re the ultimate Halloween icon (and honestly… they’re right 😼), but let’s keep the night fun and safe:

🕯️ Watch those candles — tails and flames don’t mix!
🚪 Keep indoor kitties inside, even if they’re dying to show off their costume

💙🐾 September is Pet Pain Awareness Month 🐾💙

Cats and dogs are experts at hiding pain — but subtle changes in behaviour can be signs something isn’t right.

🐾 Limping, stiffness, or difficulty getting up
🐾 Hiding more than usual

If you notice any of these signs, don’t ignore them — your pet could be uncomfortable or in pain. Our team is here to help keep them happy, healthy, and pain-free. 🐶🐱✨

Tuppy recently came to see us for her dental procedure and senior check up. Tuppy sadly had to have many teeth removed due to a condition called Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions.

Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions or FORL for short are areas on a tooth that are being dissolved or absorbed away by the body's own system. The only effective way of stopping this process is to remove the affected tooth. Sadly Tuppy had many teeth affected.

Tooth resorption is a common condition, affecting an estimated 20% to 60% of all cats. This condition can come on quite quickly which is why a yearly vet visit is always recommended to make sure your cat isn't suffering from this condition and is in top health.
Look out for these signs if you suspect your cat has dental pain:

🐾 Dropping food while eating
🐾 Pawing at the mouth
🐾 Eating on one side only
🐾 Weight loss or reduced appetite
🐾 Bleeding gums

If you believe your cat is suffering from dental pain give us a call on (07) 3544 6828 to book in an appointment to see the vet.

Below is a picture of a dental radiograph depicting different stages of resorptive lesions.
