Ticks are bad at this time of year, make sure your pets are protected, not sure what to use? Feel free to ask your groomer at your appointment

🐱🐶Ticks are a hazard all year round and checking your pets daily for ticks can be a life saver. Take the time to check those ‘hidden’ places like under the collar, between toes and inside their ears.

If you find a tick on your pet, or they start to show symptoms of tick paralysis ACT FAST - Take them to your local vet immediately.

⚠️If you see any of the following symptoms in your pet, don't delay vet treatment⚠️
🐾Vomiting or gagging
🐾Difficulty breathing
🐾Dry cough or change in bark or meow

Some cats and dogs do not show the typical hind limb paralysis at first. Initially they may only exhibit a gurgling, choking cough, however their condition will quickly deteriorate.

To avoid coat matting during the cooler months it's important to keep up regular grooming. Our kitties get an extra fluffy coat meaning it's more work to ensure we brush all the dead hair out, to help here are some suggestions for which services are best for winter.

De-shed and wet or dry bath. Removal of dead hair only leaving a full length coat.

Comb cut, a longer length hair cut (6mm) this is more manageable for the busy humans or cats that just mat up to quickly.

Grooming training.... 2nd visit Look at Scotty out of his carrier and getting a groom, what a massive change from his first visit. Thanks to Scotty's parents for being patient with him and bringing him along a week later to learn 'it's safe in the salon' as you can see Scotty was happy to get out of his cage and trust me. Next visit we will progress and he will get to the stage that he won't worry at all. Scotty is a friendly loving cat at home, just puts on a real show when he is scared. When we advised the client to allow us to work with him, he will get better, they agreed and look results show for themselves... You can't force an animal to feel safe and relax, you must work with them, gain their trust and spoil them along the way 😜

Cat behaviour Unsure if your cat is classified aggressive? Basically we try to base it on the normal behaviour at home, what are they like at home for their grooming? Do they hiss smack or bite? In a comfortable environment around humans they know this would be considered aggressive behaviour.... Aggressive behaviour for grooming in our salon is a different story, if the cats is normally well behaved at home this is something we can work with providing you bring them in salon regularly. Next visit for Scotty we are expecting a much calmer behaviour, the environment will be familiar and so will the new human. Eventually Scotty will trust us enough to allow a grooming session. Let's see how his next visit goes. I've had much success with grooming training scared cats in salon, which now get shaved, bathed and even blow drying. What happens when a coat is left to grow out during winter and not deshedded.... Our cats have thicker coats during the winter which means more BRUSHING!
