We are well into our 3rd stage of renovations and the final works have begun! We’ve got access to new and improved consult rooms and let me tell you, we are in love with these spaces! #indooroopilly #vetclinic #renovations #upgradetime #nearlydone #ivc #indooroopillyvet
New walls, new halls, some lights and doors - best of all - plenty of power-points! Our builders have been hard at work and we’re eager to see the end results soon! #indooroopilly #indooroopillyveterinaryclinic #vetclinic #renovations
The best valentine you will ever have - your pet! Make sure you’re getting lots of kisses like us in clinic 💕
Recently at the clinic we’ve been seeing an influx of Lorikeets with LPS - Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome.
This disease affects them by causing paralysis/weakness of different areas of the body - most commonly the wings and hind limbs. Because of this most cases are unable to fly and/or walk.
While the cause of the disease is not fully understood, RSPCA, Wildlife Carers and Vet Clinics are having some success with intensive treatment if brought into care early enough.
If you find a lorikeet in need of veterinary attention, please take them to your closest veterinary clinic or the RSPCA. We also urge everyone to remember that when handling these birds, although weak, they can still be rather spicy. Use a towel to protect your hands when picking them up.

National Walk your dog Month
Did you know? January is National Walk your dog month!
🐾Make sure you’re only walking your dog when it is cool enough for you to be able to touch the ground yourself. Consider early morning or late afternoon.
🐾 See what your dog thinks of a sniff walk - let them decide your path for the day following only their nose.
🐾 Make sure you provide fresh water at the start and end of your walk.
🐾 Try to enjoy the walk as much as your dog!

Another Wildlife Wednesday: This beautiful cockatoo came in last week - he was a bit shaken up, was recovering quickly and otherwise healthy. Which is great news - time for release! He was a bit rocky in the beginning of his flight, but quickly got his bearings and off he went!
Check out Ham enjoying one of his visits mid-walk. He definitely knows how to show off for his greenies! We are happy for any dogs to come into the clinic for desensitisation, to say hello, practice jumping on the scales and enjoy the clinic environment without the scary things happening! 💕#greenies #tricks #canine #desensitisation #indooroopilly #ivc #indooroopillyvetclinic
Cuteness overload 💕 we got lots of cuddles with the beautiful Chuchundra after her procedure the other day!

This beautiful girl is Tally! When you watch this video, do you think she is excited or anxious?
In this situation she is anxious! Tally’s owners tell us that she does not act like this at home, only when at the clinic. We can tell Tally isn’t completely comfortable at the vet because her behaviour shows us!
See her:
- Licking her lips
- Constantly moving
- Trying to lay down and appear non-threatening
- Pawing
- Vocalising and more!
It is important to identify if the behaviour of an animal is displaying matches the situation they are in. Even though Tally might not be 100% comfortable in clinic, she is still a very good girl!

🎶 Does your pet seem to be trying out their breakdancing skills? There is a good chance they could be suffering from itchy skin and as the weather is warming up we are seeing a spike in cases.
🐶 Some common signs of skin irritation included redness, scratching, head-shaking and chewing at the feet/tail. These signs can occur in both dogs and cats. Many pets will commonly experience an increase in skin reactions from environmental allergens as we move through spring and into summer.
📞 In order to manage their discomfort and ease symptoms, book in for a skin consultation with one of our vets today, to discuss treatment options.
