🚨 Heatwave alert! Australia is set for 10 days of high temperatures with some temps hitting 33°C—keeping your piggies cool is crucial! 🌡️ Guinea pigs are sensitive to heat, and anything above 25°C can be dangerous, especially if they’re outdoors or without aircon. Unlike us, guinea pigs can’t sweat—they rely on behavioural responses to heat such as stretching out or seeking shelter to cool down. You can help your pig keep cool by wrapping frozen water bottles and ice packs in cloth and placing them in their home, and by serving their favourite veggies on a shallow plate of water. Still getting a hang of this routine posting thing again! But, here's some nutrition tips for a belated Guinea pigs are totally vegetarians! They need a fiber rich diet with plenty of vitamin C to stay healthy and happy. Ultimited fresh timothy hay is a must to keep their digestive system in check and to wear down their constantly growing teeth. Avoid alfalfa hay for adult piggies, as it is too high in calcium and can cause stones and sludge.

Give them 1 cup of vitamin C-rich veggies daily, and limit fruits to 2-3 times a week for a sweet treat 🍓 Pellets should be plain and timothy hay-based, no extra seeds or nuts! Simple is best.

It’s Guinea Pig Awareness Week and Day 2 covers all things ‘Environment’ 💛 This means the space that your guinea pig calls home! 🐹🏠

I’ve made a little post covering all the environment essentials that will keep your piggy happy and healthy.

Guinea Pig Awareness Week was started to raise awareness of guinea pig welfare by covering everything they need to live the best life they can. While I am a day (and a half 🙊) behind, I’ll still be covering all 5 themes from Behaviour to Companionship!

What makes your guinea pigs house a home? Do they have a favourite hidey or enrichment activity? All my pigs loved a soft cuddle cup and to forage through huge piles of hay for treats I’d hidden ☺️💖

A guide to guinea pig cages: sizes, set up and more.

Although guinea pigs are small, they are one of the largest rodents kept as pets and need a lot of space to run around, explore and rest to live happy and healthy lives. The minimum cage space required for one guinea pig is 70 square centimetres or 7.5 square feet, as this will allow for enough space for everything they need as well as room to run and play. Due to territorial reasons, male guinea pigs require at least 1 square meter of cage space to prevent fights and distress between your pets. A small cage may lead to stressful situations for your furry friends, and can affect the overall health and happiness of your guinea pigs.

Hello! Sorry for hiding lately…these last few months have been very hectic (for the humans, not the piggies). A little break was needed but it’s good to be back. Despite being away my camera roll is still filled with piggy photos so I’ll be having some fun updating you all on what the pigs have been up to while us humans have been busy. We have a lot of content to catch up on AND a lot of photos and videos to share with you 💗 Thank you all for your sweet messages and for sticking around. I’m doing my best to reply to everyone asap.
