Meet Flynn and Hamish
At our playgroups, we often witness remarkable transformations. Earlier this year, we celebrated two exceptional dogs who graduated from our adolescent playgroup after turning one year old.

Flynn 🐕🐾
Flynn, a magnificent Alaskan Malamute owned by Laura and Todd, has been with us since he was a puppy. His natural leadership qualities and keen intelligence have shone through our training sessions. Now, in his fifth Urban Dog Training course, Flynn has proven to be an exemplary student. We are thrilled to announce that Flynn is being trialled as an Urban Dog Training Marshal at our playgroups. His potential was evident from the start, and we are confident he will excel in this role, guiding other dogs and setting a stellar example.

Hamish 🐕🐾
Hamish, a charming Shar Pei owned by Scott and Emily, has a story that tugs at our hearts. When Hamish first joined us, he was a very frightened, tiny puppy. With patience, love, and expert guidance, Scott and Emily have turned his life around. Now on his sixth Urban Dog Training course and just beginning his journey in canine agility, Hamish is blossoming into a confident and happy dog. His transformation is a testament to the power of dedicated training and the unbreakable bond between a dog and its owners. Hamish is becoming an advocate for his breed, showing that any dog can overcome their challenges with the right support.

🐾 Amazing Recall and ‘Leave It’! 🐾

Check out this incredible moment where Valo executed a perfect ‘leave it’ with a pretend dog while doing a recall from 50 meters away! 🐶✨

A solid ‘leave it’ cue is so important for keeping our furry friends safe and well-behaved. If your dog doesn’t come when called or leave objects from a distance, they shouldn’t be off-leash in the first place.

It’s crucial to ensure a recall and leave it cue is reliable enough to be in off-leash areas to prevent any accidents or unwanted problems. Just because a dog park is fenced, doesn’t mean they don’t have to listen to cues.

Training takes time and patience, but the results are so worth it! 🐕❤️

Farewell to Our Adolescent Stars, Ellie and Zahli

This Sunday marks a bittersweet milestone for us as we bid farewell to two of our beloved adolescent playgroup members, Ellie and Zahli. These energetic pups have turned one year old and have graduated from our free urban adolescent playgroup. While we'll miss their lively presence, we're excited to see them take their next steps!

Ellie the Labradoodle
Ellie, owned by the wonderful Annie, brought a unique zest to our playgroup. Her infectious energy often resulted in full-blown zoomies, leaving us all in awe of her speed and enthusiasm. Ellie’s joyous sprints were a delightful spectacle, showcasing the sheer joy she found in every session.

Zahli the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Zahli, under Teleah's loving care, was the epitome of happiness and confidence. Her cheerful disposition and unwavering self-assuredness made her a favourite among both the canines and humans at our playgroup. Watching Zahli interact with her peers was always a heartwarming experience.

Looking Ahead
While their departure feels like the end of an era, it’s really just the beginning of a new chapter. We hope to see both Ellie and Zahli back in our exclusive Urban Legends playgroup once they have successfully completed the six required courses.
The future holds exciting adventures and new learning opportunities for these remarkable dogs and their dedicated owners.

Kerri and Nala's Transformation Story.

Meet Kerri and her lovely 9-month-old Golden Retriever, Nala. When they first joined us, both were bundles of nerves. Kerri worried endlessly about Nala's anxiety in class, and that anxiety quickly rubbed off on her. But look at them now!

Kerri and Nala have made astonishing progress after just three weeks in our Urban Basics course. Through dedication and hard work, Kerri has helped Nala become more comfortable around other dogs and significantly more responsive to training.

Our Urban Basics course isn't just about teaching a few commands. We train dog owners to think like dog trainers, understanding the 'why' behind every behaviour. Using positive reinforcement, we help foster a deeper bond between you and your dog.

Up early for another awesome Saturday of training.

Paul took Dave out for a huge sniff, explore, enrich walk yesterday. They were gone for almost 3 hours!

They went to Elanora Park in Wynnum and chased birds, explored bushes, explored mangroves and met lots a lovely people who all commented on his behaviour. We then finished the walk on the Wynnum boardwalk.

Urban Loose Leash Walking

If your dog drags you down the street lunging, choking and coughing, can’t focus around distractions, or you’d like to teach your dog to walk at heel, this course is ideal for you. If walking your dog is not only an unpleasant chore but embarrassing and painful, enrol in this course today.

Having a dog that walks politely on lead is important for both your dog and you. If your dog pulls on lead and will not pay attention in public then you are less likely to take your dog out anywhere, resulting in feelings of guilt and frustration. This then results in an under-exercised dog that is at a much higher risk of developing behaviour issues through lack of exercise and boredom.

All dogs can be taught to walk politely without pulling and even heel on lead, often very quickly and easily. This 6-week course is specifically designed to show you how!

✔ Proper Selection & Use of Training Aids (anti-pulling equipment that actually works)

Our FREE Puppy Play Group, FREE Adolescent Play Group and our FREE Urban Legends Social Group are open to all puppies under 16 weeks old, regardless of breed, and you don't need to be enrolled in our classes to join in. This is a fantastic opportunity for your puppy to socialise in a safe, controlled, and friendly environment overseen by our expert behavioural dog trainers. Your puppy will develop essential social skills while having a blast and burning off some energy!

How to Enrol:
Even though our Puppy Play Group is free, enrolment is essential as spaces are limited. Enrolments close each Friday at 4:00pm or when full, so be sure to secure your spot early.

FREE Orientation Session:
If it's your first time attending our Puppy Play Group, an orientation session is required, whether you are a client of Urban Dog Training or not. Orientation sessions take place every Sunday at 12:00pm. Please enrol in an Orientation session to get started.
