Good little diagram on the 2 point position.
Don’t stress though if your position isn’t perfect when you first start. It takes a while to build up strength, stamina & stability to develop it.
It just gives a good picture of the end goal!
Doing some local promotion for local families in the Greenbank area, Middle Green has been hosting food trucks once a month out the back & each time we have been, it’s growing.
If you’re glutarded like me, I can highly recommend the London Potatoes!
Family friendly & plenty of options. I’m a big fan of supporting local events.
I’ll post the link in the comments to keep Instagram happy….
This is from MONTHS ago (like, April 20th) BUT we actually got to go out while I was still recovering from that accident I had & it was absolutely AMAZING!
Watching Tom Burlinson & Sigrid Thornton recount the stories of the making of the movie.
The entire score was performed live by an orchestra while you watched the movie. Still one of the best scores EVER.
I used to know that movie word-for-word. Apparently, I still do 🤣🤣.
No wonder I used to race around on my horse (Benjie was his name) when I was teenager like a lunatic!
Despite still having broken ribs at the time we saw this, all I wanted to do was go fetch me a stock horse & bring in some brumbies!!!!
Dressage Day!
Our annual Dressage Day is now set for Sunday 8th September
Dressage tests will be the same as last year, more info to come or message me either via the page, or 0420310669
Entry will be done through Hopoti.com as per last year, but message me first to add you to the list!
It’s embarrassing how many layers I wear at night, especially given my childhood was in Canada…. In my defence…. that was 34 years ago……
Last Friday night, doing it right, at the Manor! 🥂
Moe is singing to Cara….. describing his life…….
🤣🤣🤣
When you leave the ignition on in the tractor….. good thing we have a Ranger to the rescue 🤣🤣
A video from yesterday.
I can see ALL of the bad habits Rebel (& Gary!) has pointed out to me.
No matter how far we have come, or how long you have ridden, you always, ALWAYS need that feedback.
It’s always good to be able to see what we’re doing & analysing, so we can keep improving. Self analysis & self correcting is what speeds up improvement. Being open to feedback & taking it on board.
I’ve got plenty to work on! I better get cracking before my next lessons!!! Sorry Hercules & Hektor, no rest for you 🤣🤣! The H team!
Rebel Morrow
We went out to Fig Tree Pocket again to learn more from Rebel’s wisdom! Today I opted for flat work/dressage lessons as I felt like I needed some finer tuning.
I also made the decision to start getting Hektor out & about again. It’s been some time since I’ve done anything with him.
Hercules was a little super star as usual, no footage of him though, but one photo with his little fan club!!!!
Thank you morrow
Had a pretty little visitor yesterday….. haven’t seen him today
A carpet python! Soooo pretty!!!
It’s a nice misty morning out here this morning.
The horse’s though, don’t care about the pretty mist & are just saying GET ON WITH BREAKFAST!! Room service, you are LATE!!
Holiday program today despite the sogginess!
And young Charlotte decided to see if she could climb up on Diesel who’s 16.2hh 🤣 she conquered the mountain!
Why do we clip the horses in winter?
Brisbane has a warm winter climate. A horse’s winter coat is designed to withstand 0oC & below temperatures.
When they’re being ridden late at night & sweaty, it can be hard to wash them off properly & get the sweat out.
They’re also more prone to rain scald & other skin conditions.
Clipping means we can wash them off thoroughly & they dry super fast (you shouldn’t rug a wet horse in 5oC or less) & it keeps their skin in much better health.
I clip them myself, but there are professionals out there who do a wayyyyyyyy better job! As you can tell by Rocky’s facial expressions, he’s thrilled….. lol
Natalie & I took Baldur & Hercules out to TEG for some unofficial training on their cross country course.
I had another Xray last week that has indicated that my ribs are STILL repairing, so I rode Hercules focusing more on rhythm, transitions & only jumped him over the really low jumps that we had jumped before & again, he was perfect.
I took the opportunity to lunge him over some of the bigger “scarier” looking jumps. He is still learning bravery out there & I only want to push him so hard as I don’t need to fall off right now.
Lunging is a SUPER way of exposing them to new obstacles & they don’t need a big run up to pop over because there’s no rider to upset their natural balance.
I popped him over all sorts of funny looking jumps between 60cm-80cm & it was a great experience for him!
Some trainers aren’t always fans of lunging over jumps because it can be hard to get a proper rhythm on the approach & a good departure line.
I think if you’re doing it over low obstacles for desensitisation & not just doing it repeatedly for no good reason, it can be a great way to let them find themselves over jumps that look weird without having to worry about them jumping oddly, running out or stopping & then creating a pile of issues that you have to go back & correct. Twice over each weird jump is all that is needed!
Good boy Hercules!
Holiday camp today!
Soooooo, I did a thing today!
Technically, I was allowed to return to riding last week. I MIGHT have accidentally started riding a couple weeks ago, which lined me up in time to squeeze in a lesson this morning out at Fig Tree Pocket with the awesome Rebel Morrow.
Hercules was a CHAMPION. Jumped BEAUTIFULLY. Our last lesson was the 24th Feb & he just picked up right where we left off.
I am wearing a body protector & will do when I’m jumping for a little while. They are compulsory for cross country anyway.
Rib area is a touch tender, but, I think that’s just going to be an ongoing thing for a while.
It was awesome to be able to just pick it straight back up from where we left off.
Good job Hercules, my little jumping pony!!!
Thank you
❤️❤️

Acupuncture was done on Monday, with Diesel (one of the school horses), Aztec, Aladdin & Baldur all receiving treatments by Emily at EVAS.
The difference is really noticeable. I rotate through the schoollies getting treatment. Diesel is quite happily snoring away, he always enjoys it!!!
Bueller…. Bueller…
The resemblance is uncanny, looks like Zafar is about to go have a day off….
(If you know this reference, don’t look at the release year date, just know that you’re awesome!)
T’was a misty morning this morning.
Rain has held off, so far!

It was dental day & sheath cleaning day last Wednesday!
Horses should have dental’s every year. They’re different to ours because it’s not about keeping their teeth clean, it’s about stopping sharp points developing on the back molars.
They can get very sharp & create mouth ulcers, tongue ulcers & create pain when the bit pressure is applied.
Horse’s teeth continue to grow & chewing roughage is what helps grind back surfaces. Eating grains, hay, even eating dry, stalky grass can cause teeth to become sharp. If they’re not ground back, the sharp points continue to grow.
This can create SO many issues for the horse, including sore backs & muscles because, they hold their head on weird angles to protect their mouth & can cause muscle issues.
The horses get sedated so also get their p***s & sheath area cleaned as geldings can develop a bean, almost like a small rock of dirt, sweat & skin that if left, can actually “grow” over the urethra & create all kinds of urinating problems.
One of the new agistment horses had ulcers up & down both sides of his gums from his teeth. Good news is, they will have healed in a couple days.
When I gain a new horse for the Manor, they instantly go onto the list for the next available dental day, or if I think there’s a problem, I’ll take them to get done. Some horses need 6 monthly dentals before they can go to 12 months. Once they’re at maintenance level, it’s pretty easy to manage.
There’s a few things that should be looked at to rule out behavioural problems.
Teeth - causes mouth & soreness problems
Hooves - if their hooves are unbalanced, sore have problems, will cause lameness & soreness problems
Saddle fit & bit fit - make sure they’re fitted professionally.
Those 3 are my first to check for any horse showing discomfort in any way.
Last photo is the horses sleeping off the sedative, it’s like their heads become too heavy 🤣🤣
It’s been good getting back into the teaching “saddle”.
Couple more weeks & it will be the actual saddle!!!
Never a day off on a farm, there’s always something… water pipes, but, check out our cutest little supervisor… learning the ropes

Nomad was being VERY helpful this morning when Cara was making feeds. He was doing a very good job of supervising….
We’ve decided that maybe we should change sports to white water rafting or kayaking? Ask Teddy the horse…. Or maybe he’s a water buffalo….
I finally learned how to edit movies so I can create short ones! I know, most people already know how to do this…. Lol On the 8th, 9th & 10th of Jan, I had lessons daily with Rebel Morrow out at Fig Tree Pocket decided to treat myself as this opportunity doesn’t present very often. Hercs went super & well even popped over some 80cm jumps!! You should ALWAYS train 10-20 cm higher than what you compete at. This is because jumps are more scary when you’re out & about. I probably will still find one more 45cm competition, just for a touch more exposure & then we’ll be ready for 60cm. In the meantime, keep training at 80cm, which will make us more competitive for 60cm. We’re slowly getting there!
Unfortunately, it’s not the full video as Business Pages cap at 1 minute BUT Had a sensational lesson on Hercules with David Finch this morning at TEG. All the training really paid off & everything just came together & felt much how I remember when I was last actively jumping regularly in 2008. A few things to tidy up, canter leads & could have a little bit more bend in my knee, but today was “the ride” when everything comes together & clicks. Hercs is really learning & understanding his job!
I was up bright & early at 4:30am this morning to take Hektor & Hercules for some jump training. I just did show jumping with Hektor (no photos ☹️) & he absolutely finished up so confident & maintained a glorious canter rhythm. A couple more outtings & I think we’ll be able to start taking him a bit higher. Hercules was a little super star, he is really starting to get the idea of jumping & even got excited & showed off to his TB counterparts, lol. Here’s my only video of the day. Go little Hercules!
I took Hercules & Hektor to a jump clinic today. I don’t have any footage of Hercs, but he was an absolute champ. He is ready to level up, achievement unlocked!! Lol I need to practice on Hektor more. I’ve only jumped him once in the arena months ago, so, I need to be better prepped 🤣🤣 Hektor & I started quite messy & he was launching & throwing me around, but by the end, I started to get it together & ride him better & do him justice. I’ll take him back a level for his next outting so we can get better rhythm & take offs, but, I don’t think it’ll take long. Probably jumping him properly before going to a clinic would be beneficial… I’m too far forward on landing. I need to be more upright.
I took Nomad out for a little cross country lesson yesterday with Jodie from JEDS. Needless to say, I was RUSTY AS!! I probably haven’t had a cross country lesson in around 12-15 years. I did used to ride a lot of cross country once upon a time, but definitely spent the last decade focusing more on jousting. We only did some small jumps, Nomad’s never done specific cross country before. He’s certainly been through water & over logs & jumps at home, but this is a little bit different. I was too forward in my position at the start & didn’t quite have him straight enough between my reins & legs, but we totally had it by the end. I imagine next time, we’ll be able to go a little bit higher. I was super proud of him & pleased with my progress, won’t take much before I’m completely back to where I was. I figured while Hercules is out of action, doesn’t hurt to keep revisiting my skill sets & brush up on everything. The keys for riding cross country, staying upright with all your weight through your feet, core on, lower leg slightly forward. RHYTHM, REGULARITY & yes, to a certain extent, RELAXATION, you DONT want your horse galloping flat stick into jumps, it needs to be controlled & measured. And, keep your train (horse) straight through your railway (reins) lines. Nomad does try to run out on the jump coming out of the water, but my railway lines were too straight & clear for him to succeed. I had a ball & it was a wonderful refresher!
