Keeping up with grooming in the winter months for your bestie is extremely important! It’s cold out there but to avoid our mates feeling uncomfortable with their fur going into their eyes and knotting around their hygiene areas, we recommend booking your pup in every 6 weeks. We have different winter styles to suit every dog! Imagine what would happen to our hair if we didn’t brush it out for 3 months 😳😳

Everyone meet Frankie the Golden Retriever! Frankie has started one on one puppy preschool.
Frankie has not been very happy going into his crate, does this sound like your dog? I opened both of the crate doors and lured Frankie into his crate, by the end he was laying down in his crate happy as Larry!
Frankie also doesn’t like car rides, today we started trouble shooting this by desensitising him to being around the car with the car door open. Tail Waggerz will be going back in 2 weeks for another one on one puppy training session.

SOUND ON 📢 How do you start your walk? Here is how I start my walk with Laika. I never get Laika excited before our walk. She doesn’t know the word “walkies”. One of the most common mistakes is getting your dog really excited before your walk and then expecting them to be right by your side and to listen to you. Set up your dog for success not frustration.

Did you know that you can reward your dog for their great obedience skills by playing fetch with them, never be afraid to use what they love doing to train them. Stimulating your dog is just as important as taking them out for a walk. Using obedience makes Laika use her brain to figure out what she needs to do to get that ball thrown for her. What would you like to teach your dog to do? Comment or message us and we will bring out a post about your question.

This is Laika doing a couple of our old tricks “Legs” & “Middle”. Middle is a useful command to teach your dog in order draw and maintain your dogs attention on you. It’s simple to teach and can be a powerful tool in maintaining control off lead and in distracting environments. And if your pooch has motivation or food drive like our Laika it is also great for mental stimulation and a rewarding outlet for your dogs energy.

This week I have started training Laika how to hug, she is is such a fast learner this has only taken 5 minutes a day for 3 days to get to this stage. I’m very lucky that I have an amazingly smart dog that is always eager to learn new tricks. I’ll update you next week on how her progress is going. Perfect trick for taking a selfie with your best friend on four legs 😎
