We received this beautiful update today from Grace & Ben who adopted Miss “Delilah” from us! “Delilah” was dumped by her previous owner and was found as a stray in Cashmere at the end of May. We’re so glad that we were able to assist this sweet girl in finding her forever family and we can’t thank Grace & Ben enough for opening their hearts and home to her! 🐶🏡💕

Hi All,
Delilah has settled into her new home very quickly and confidently. She has already claimed her spot on the couch and is getting to know her new cat brothers and sister. She loves her cuddles on the couch and her long walks through the park. She has also started going to the markets every sunday morning enjoying all the free treats she gets from all the store owners. She makes sure to say hello to every person and dog she sees along the way. She has since become a hit in our neighbourhood with everyone greeting her as they walk by. Even though she has only been with us for a week now we couldn't imagine life without her. She is super smart, sweet, friendly and loves a good belly scratch. We will send through another update in a few weeks.

Introducing pretty Miss “Cinnamon” our 11 week old fluffy ginger kitten! “Cinnamon” is a super sweet girl who was rescued from Warwick Pound a few weeks ago. She’s a very friendly and easy going kitty who loves playing and exploring her surroundings. “Cinnamon” is always up for pats and scratches and can’t wait to start a new chapter in her life where she will be a cherished member of the family. She has had cat flu previously (due to being in the pound environment), so she can be a little sniffly at times, but we promise it won’t stop her from living life to the fullest. Introducing handsome “Woody” our 1.5 year old grey tabby cat! “Woody” was surrendered to us last week after he was found in bushland in Moodlu. To make things even stranger, he was found with 5 kittens. The person who saved them assumed he must have been the mother cat, however that is definitely not the case. We don’t know how “Woody” and the kittens ended up in the bush together, but we can only assume they were dumped. We don’t know if he fathered these kittens, and we hate to think what could have happened to the mother cat. As a result, “Woody” is now looking for a new home where he can feel safe, happy and secure for the rest of his days. He’s a super cool cat who is very easy going, docile and looooves pats. He can’t wait to find that special someone who will provide him with plenty of chin rubs, yummy treats and a warm bed to snuggle up in. “Woody” is happy to share his company with other friendly felines as long as a slow and steady introduction is done. He will need a quiet space and a couple of days to settle in to his new home, but once he does, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Some of her kittens - “Moe”, “Garfield” & “Dakota” - were featured on our page. “Honey” did a wonderful job raising her babies and now it’s her turn to find her happily ever after. She can’t wait to be loved, cherished and kept safe by her new family. Introducing fabulous “Fritz” our 10 month old blue mink mitted Ragdoll X! “Fritz” arrived into care this week after a wonderful bunch of people helped rescue him from Rockhampton Pound. He’s an absolute darling boy who loves head rubs and back scratches. Despite being a little shy when you first meet him, it doesn’t take long for “Fritz” to warm up and turn into a total smoocher. He will nuzzle into you for cuddles and will even shower you with kitty kisses. “Fritz” appears to enjoy the company of other friendly felines as long as a slow and steady introduction is done. Please note, “Fritz” does have a small abrasion to his nose which happened during transport - this will heal without any issue.

Surprise, surprise… we’ve had another dog dumped on us. This beautiful female Border Collie X was handed into us about 2 weeks ago after she was found in Cashmere roaming as a stray. She is microchipped, however the chip is still registered to the breeder. They had arranged for the apparent owner to come and collect her within 48 hours, but of course no one came forward or bothered to contact us. Sadly, it’s becoming more and more common with animals being dumped by careless owners and it truly is heartbreaking. We don’t want to send her to the pound, so we have decided to keep her and give her a chance at finding a new home.

She’s 1 year and 8 months old. She hasn’t been desexed, so we are planning on speying her early next week. If anyone has any name suggestions for her, please comment them below as we haven’t come up with anything yet. She’s a super sweet and active girl who deserves so much more in life. This is a bit of a different post from us, however we feel like it’s a very important topic to highlight.

You may be surprised to learn that the veterinary industry experiences significantly higher levels of depression and su***de than other work sectors. Veterinarians have almost four times the su***de rate of the Australian population. This equates to a veterinarian taking their own life on average every 12 weeks in Australia.

Veterinary teams are faced with high workloads, emotionally difficult conversations and decisions, poor work/life balance, long hours, lack of support and burnout, and increasing client expectations.

1 in 2 vets in clinical practice experience online abuse. This has a serious impact on mental health and wellbeing amongst veterinary professionals.

We have included a message we received this week from a former client regarding a situation where they surrendered their two cats to us after they could no longer care for them. We found loving new homes for both these cats. This client didn’t like the adoption profile that was written for one cat who was particularly timid/scared and accused us of calling them abusive in the post, which is something we never did. This only highlights the abuse we experience on a regular basis. Client abuse, not just towards veterinary receptionists but towards veterinary teams as a whole, impacts job satisfaction in the industry and contributes to the high staff turnover that many practices are experiencing.

Today we want to remind everyone that being kind goes a long way. Think before you speak or type. Your words have consequences. We’re here to help your pets and we’re simply doing our best 💜🩺🐾

UPDATE: “Salem” has been adopted!

Introducing magnificent “Salem” the 12 month old fluffy black cat! “Salem” arrived into our care this week after he was given to us for rehoming by the wonderful team at Burpengary Veterinary Hospital. They found him hanging around the clinic a few weeks ago, managed to trap him, and took him into their care. Unfortunately, he wasn’t microchipped and no one came forward to claim him. Whilst performing his routine medical tests, it was discovered that “Salem” has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). FIV is not transmissible to humans, but it does mean that he can only be housed indoors with either no other cats, cats that have his condition or cats that are vaccinated against FIV. Sadly, the stigma surrounding this virus means it makes it harder for rescue groups to find them second chances. As a result, “Salem” has now ended up with us and is on the lookout for a safe and secure forever home. He’s a super smoochy and friendly man who adores receiving head scratches and the occasional belly rub. Despite his FIV diagnosis, “Salem” can still live a very happy and full life and can’t wait to build that special bond with his new owner.
