Sorry it’s been quiet here since returning from holidays. The cruise also brought us Covid. It was totally worth it though. It’s been a week since I got sick and things are picking up again.
During this time puppy Charlie the Cocker spaniel and Wheaten Terrier Maizie were staying with me. This new friendship took off on eye contact which I was very grateful for while I was sick. Maizie entertained the puppy for me while my girls played nursemaids.
I saw Charlie for a puppy program before he came to stay. His family have done a great job of crate training him so this puppy has learnt to turn off and chill for naps. It certainly made life easier in a group situation when he was getting tired or overstimulated. We also continued giving all meals and chew treats in there too so he associates crates in different places as good things too. Puppies often don’t want to sleep when in a group situation so I can’t tell you how advantageous it it if a puppy learns this skill. Doesn’t mean they’ll sleep in one for life, but it sure makes puppyhood easier.

Well I’m back from holidays!
Had the most amazing time cruising to NZ and seeing the sights. I actually lost half a kilo from all the fresh food I got to eat. Not sure how that happened as many deserts were had also. Eating regularly does wonders it seems.
I was in total withdrawal from my doggy friends here in Oz and tried so hard not to be that person who annoyed owners with dogs so I could get my fix. I had not patted a dog for 12 whole days!!!! I know, right! To say I’m excited to see some dog friends tomorrow for first day back is an understatement.
Missed my doggos so much and they got to have a well earned break from boarders too.
In a few days time this will feel like a distant memory but this truly was one of my favourite holidays ever.

All messages will be answered on my return. See you when I get back.

Little Maple has started his REACTIVITY TRAINING journey. Mum and Maple have had 2 lessons so far and are working to perfect foundation skills so we can put basic leash skills in to practice around dogs.
Keep up the good work you two!

If it’s happening in America it won’t be long till somewhere here recognises the huge hole in the market for real whole food alternatives for medical conditions.
So pleased Dr Karen Becker has lead this.

At the moment if your dog is diagnosed with these conditions I’d recommend contacting Narelle Cook from CanineCeuticals (Dog Nutritionist) to work out a fresh food diet suitable for pancreatitis or kidney disease.

It won’t be long till pre balanced meals make it to Australia I’m sure.

The company teamed up with veterinarians to formulate recipes for specific pet health issues.

What’s even better is Wilma went to a new vet this week and with a slow meeting, she even let him look in her mouth. They then booked a dental which I am certain contributes to her human aggression. In the past that wasn’t possible. We really spent time boosting her confidence and giving Mum some easy steps to follow in the presence of new people.
Definitely not a dog whisperer but worked on settling her fears and looking at her health as well.

Had a lovely WALK AND TRAIN with Tinka today. There were no dogs at the dog park so we couldn’t use them to train outside the park so we went for a walk and found cows to use as distraction. She was quite scared of them so we worked about 10metres from them where she could succeed. Was a nice change of scenery.

I think this is a good one to share as a lot of people look for good dental sticks but are actually using non effective sticks.
Most are made from potato or rice and actually have no active ingredients to remove dental tartar.

Bell and Bone actually has good ingredients and active ingredients to actually do something.

Thought some may be interested.

Ditch those Greenies and Dentasticks and go for Bell and Bone if you aren’t comfortable giving bones to your dog.
No active ingredients in either of them and 😬ingredients.
Reviews of them on Balaced Canine of Sydney page. (Sasha is a Dog Nutritionist)

Yesterday we looked at the ingredients of another dental health stick and it was pretty 😬🤮

𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹 & 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗲:
Lamb, Tapioca, Sweet Potato, Vegetable binder, Coconut, Mint, Guar Gum, Manuka Honey, Chia Seed, Parsley, Acacia Tree Gum, Antioxidant. Oral Actives ? Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Zinc Sulphate

We found this one at: https://www.petcircle.com.au/product/bell-and-bone-lamb-mint-manuka-honey-dental-dog-treats-small/bbdslsvo2x

Sooooooooooooooo much better that the one we looked at yesterday!

Look at ingredient panels, you can do better for your dog.
