If your pet’s microchip is registered with HomeSafeID, we have important news: The company has gone into receivership, and the future of their registry is uncertain. 🐾

If your pets microchip was placed by us it will not be HomeSafeID as we register with another company.

What you need to do ASAP:

1️⃣ Check your pet’s microchip registration at https://www.petaddress.com.au/
2️⃣ If your pet is with HomeSafeID, update your details with your local council/shire/city. (Pet registration & microchip registration are separate!)
3️⃣ Add a personalized ID tag with your contact info to your pet’s collar.
4️⃣ Consider switching to a new registry (e.g. AAR).

If you don’t know your pet’s microchip number or need assistance, don’t hesitate to call us – we’re here to help! 📞🐾

While vets & rangers can still access the HomeSafeID register, we don’t know how long this will last. Don’t risk losing touch with your pet – update today! 🐕🐱

Did you know that cats can smell through their mouths? 😮 It’s true! Cats have a special organ called Jacobson's organ (or the vomeronasal organ) located in the roof of their mouths. When they open their mouths and make that funny “flehming” face, they’re using it to pick up scents! 😽👃

This helps them gather important information about their surroundings, fellow felines, and even potential mates. So, next time your cat pulls that face, they’re just doing some serious sniffing! 🐾

🐾 Veterinary FAQ: Why do some pets have dew claws? 🐾

Dew claws are the extra claws found higher up on your pet’s legs, often on the front paws, but some animals have them on the back too! 🐾

While they may seem like a mystery, dew claws actually serve a purpose! They provide extra grip and help with stability when climbing, running, or gripping things. In some breeds, they even play a role in holding prey.

However, if a dew claw grows improperly, it can sometimes become ingrown, causing pain or infection. Here’s an example of what can happen when a dew claw grows into the skin.

If you notice your pet’s dew claws looking abnormal or causing discomfort, don’t hesitate to ask your vet at their next check-up! 🩺✨
