MISTY ADOPTION
7-month-old female Husky x Border Collie x Dingo (x Staffy?) ‘Misty’ is sadly looking for a new home due to the current callous tenancy laws in NSW.

Misty is a beautiful, high energy, very sweet natured girl. She is great with children and loves interacting with other dogs her size or smaller. She does need to gain more confidence around larger dogs as she currently displays some timidity, which can manifest as submissive and/or fleeing behaviours.

Misty is bright and is already learning a number of commands. She adores the beach and will happily hang with her family off-leash. She is strong and will need some leash-training.

Looking for a loyal, playful, energetic, easy maintenance companion or family dog? Please contact Shell on 0458461935.

JULIAS & SCOUT (now OLLY & OSCAR) UPDATE - SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

Once again, huge thanks to Heidi from Heidi's Houndstays for fostering these two little cutesy sweet rascal Cavoodles.

Because Olly & Oscar were so beautifully bonded, we were super keen to rehome them together.

Maggie and partner, who had recently lost their dog to old age, took one look at them and roared down from near Bribie Island to meet them.

The boys now enjoy a luxurious and absolutely loved-up lifestyle with daily excursions to the beach where they run, swim, retrieve, dive and enjoy life to the full.

Now both 11-months old, little shy Oscar has gained so much confidence and the pair are now being crate-trained due to naughty destructive separation anxiety - "nothing I can't sort out" says besotted Maggie, after discovering the shredded sofa and xmas tree decorations scattered all over the house!

LUNA the Wolfhound x Kelpie UPDATE - SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED

We are delighted to convey that the lovely ‘Luna’ who spent five months at our shelter, has found her ideal home with the lovely James.

James lives on acreage in the hinterland and is over the moon with Luna.

He says “I couldn’t wish for a better dog. She is incredibly loving and smart, with great recall. She has made life here so much lovelier and she is great and thoroughly enjoys our several kilometre long bike rides down to the creek each morning. Luna loves the adventure”.

We are so proud of you Luna and love you forever 🙌🥰

PEACH ADOPTION
Petite ‘Peach’ is a 15-month-old desexed female Staffy x Cattle Dog (xx?).

Weighing in at only 12kgs, Peach is tiny for her breeds but in prime condition and health.

She is a serious little girl who takes on the role of companion-protector very earnestly. She literally bailed me up on our first meeting, but quickly warmed up enjoying some tickles and larking about. Due to her uncertainty and fear of strangers, which can result in some nippiness, we would not recommend Peach with small children or first-time dog owners.

She is playful with other dogs on the beach, walks well on-leash but can be a tad reactive on-leash when meeting other dogs. She obeys commands and always comes when called. She is also content when left at home alone.

If you’re looking for a luscious-looking, easy to maintain, cuddly, loyal and very loving companion who relishes a couple of walks a day (especially on the beach) and has impeccable ball chasing and returning skills, please contact Shell on 0458461935.

🐶 CODY ADOPTION 🐶
9-years-old in February; darling little Wire-Haired Jack Russell (x Foxy?) ‘Cody’ is looking for his new home.

Rescued from the pound, Cody has now been desexed, vaxed and flea/worm/tick treated. He is recovering beautifully in foster-care and is already keen to play and adventure.

He has lived through a hard life pretty unscathed, due to his street smarts and tough durable character. We would love to see him in a safe, caring and loving home where he will entertain you with his cheery and cheeky little personality.

Cody gets on famously with other dogs, enjoys a walk on-leash, loves a cuddle and to date, we’ve discovered nothing that fazes him.

For adoption enquiries, please contact Shell on 0458461935.

JESS ADOPTION or FOSTER

4-year-old desexed female pure Australian Kelpie ‘Jess’ is running out of options. Currently, our shelter is full and we have no available foster-carers. To date, Jess has been a farm dog who has experience with gently running cattle.

Jess is an affectionate sweetheart. She would thrive with a dedicated companion who could provide her with some further training, and some lovin’ ‘n’ fun. She walks well on-leash and loves hanging out indoors with some creature comforts.

She is pretty obedient and comes when called. Socially, she is OK with other dogs, but she is definitely more of a people dog. She becomes possessive of her person and can lash out at other dogs if they steal some of her attention. For this reason she would be best suited to a one-dog household.

Can you help Jess? Please contact Shell on 0458461935.

MAEVE ADOPTION
This little beauty is a 2-year-old desexed female Red Heeler x Fox Terrier who we rescued from the pound.

As you can see from the photos, she is slight for her breeds; not that much bigger than the Basenji or the Cavoodle she is pictured with.

Maeve is a darling sweetie who gets on really well with other dogs, but will nip at them if she feels overwhelmed. Similarly, she will nip at humans if they frighten her, hence we wouldn’t recommend her for small children or anyone who is timid around dogs.

She is settling in beautifully at our open-air shelter but was initially plagued by anxiety and sadness after being abandoned at the pound.

Maeve is alert, bright, playful, affectionate and super loyal. Her new companion or family will mean everything to her and she will likely be an excellent protector. She will need ongoing training and adequate exercise/stimulation to keep her happy.

If you have a fenced yard and are a loving, competent and confident dog handler, please contact Shell on 0458461935.

NALAH ADOPTION
Little puppy ‘Nalah’ is a 10-week-old female Kelpie x German Shepherd.

The poor little darling has already experienced quite an eventful and horrifying time in her short life; born into an unwanted litter she was given away at 7/8-weeks to a person who shockingly but accidentally ran her over. Thankfully she was rushed to Billinudgel Vets who performed an array of x-rays mercifully discovering that she had sustained zero life-altering injuries. After being given away yet again, she has now been surrendered to BDR for appropriate rehoming. We have had her thoroughly checked over by Mullumbimby Vets who confirmed that she is in excellent health and condition.

Nalah is an absolute miracle girl with a sweet, playful and extremely good temperament. She will grow into an affectionate, loyal, clever, easily trainable and active dog.

Please only apply if you have sound dog experience and the time to put into training, exercising, socialising and hanging out with Nalah.

Contact Shell on 0458461935.

MONTY ADOPTION
5-year-old desexed male Maremma ‘Monty’ is looking for his ideal new home after his owner sadly passed away.

Monty has been residing at our open-air shelter for over two weeks as he decompressed and slowly began to trust us and flaunt his sweet, playful yet typical Maremma personality – independent, dignified, somewhat aloof and alert.

Monty is particularly beautiful looking with his stunning coat and shimmering eyes. He has always been a pet (with little training) and has never been used as a guardian dog; however, he is definitely displaying his natural aptitude for guardianship over all the other shelter dogs.

If you are looking for a loyal and friendly Maremma who gets on with other dogs (he will assert himself as the alpha dog however)... and you live on property or a hobby farm, Monty will become your affectionate and devoted companion together with having a distinct inclination for guarding family, other pets and livestock. You will also need to be an experienced, patient and confident dog handler.

Please contact Shell on 0458461935.

💖 ROMA ADOPTION 💖
UPDATE: As expected, little Roma has won the hearts of his foster-carers and is now on a 3-week trial adoption

14-week-old male Chihuahua x ‘Roma’ is looking for a new home.

For such a tiny CUTE bundle, Roma is chocka-block full of personality, spirit and cheekiness. Nothing seems to faze him. On arrival, he accompanied Angeji the Basenji to the beach where he pranced with confidence amongst some of the big dogs from our shelter who were having a day out with our new volunteers.

He then visited the shelter and again self-assuredly introduced himself to more enormous dogs. I really thought he’d be exhausted by the time I dropped him at his foster-carers home, but no, he continued to strut his stuff, chasing, retrieving and returning balls with absolute glee.

Roma is a fearless, very smart little man. He will need continuing socialisation, stimulation and training.

If you have the time, a very secure fenced yard and the wherewithal to guide this tiny bundle of plucky exuberance, please contact Shell on 0458461935.

OPAL UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED
Big, beautiful, gentle Dalmatian x Amstaff ‘Opal’ had been residing at our open-air shelter for nearly nine months. When we rescued her she had been a serial escape-artist who simply hadn’t had her high energy needs met.

Little did we know however, that she had an inordinate fear of humans. It took us three months before we could even touch her!!

Slowly, slowly she began to share her unbelievably sweet and gentle character with us. She so beautifully mothered all the dogs who came to the shelter... and this is virtually unheard of... shared some of her meals with Luna the Wolfhound/Kelpie by dropping food at her feet.

We knew Opal would need a special, gentle and patient person with a safe and quiet home. When Barbara rang looking for a companion dog and mentioned her previous Dalmatian, we leapt at the opportunity to introduce Opal...

Barbara has been a blessing for Opal and with her exquisite patience, care and tenderness they have bonded beautifully. Opal shares Barbara’s bed with the resident pussycat and enjoys daily walks at the beach and near her home.

As Opals confidence grows, Barbara will introduce some more training, but in the meantime their camaraderie is brilliant and beguiling to behold.

THANK YOU Barbara for giving Opal the chance she needed 🙏🙌♥️ We are beyond thrilled.

🪷 LOLA UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED 🪷
Timothy Brooke-Hunt adopted Lola from us close to three years ago. Tim and Lola shared a most beautiful loving relationship in that time. Sadly, we say VAIL to wonderful Tim who recently completed the process of voluntary assisted dying due to MND.

Tim waited until we had found another loving home for Lola, and to avoid her feeling she had been abandoned by Tim, she lay peacefully under his legs for the full two hours of the assisted dying procedure.

We then picked Lola up and delivered her to new mum Megan and her dog Missy.

Lola has always been an extremely well loved dog, but to her detriment, she was never trained or socialised with other dogs by her original owners. This led Lola to display a complete lack of manners around other dogs, manifesting in quite unpredictable conduct (even after significant behaviour modification training). She has however mellowed and become a very well trained dog in all other aspects.

Megan is a most amazing woman who has always rescued the dogs no one else wants. She picked Staffy x ‘Missy’ up off the streets where she was so forsaken; hairless and scabby due to horrific mange and fighting for her life amongst other abandoned street dogs. Missy is now well, healthy and has learnt to cohabitate nicely with other dogs due entirely to Megan’s efforts.

Megan has now welcomed 9yo Lola into her home and heart and with her patience and more effort, Lola now enjoys yet another loving home together with on-leash walks and off-leash runs with her new best mate Missy – an extraordinary accomplishment.

Massive thanks to Megan & Missy and everyone else involved in Lola’s rehabilitation and training (particularly Tim and Lissie the Furry Dogmother) 🙏💖🙏

UPDATE: 💃🏽🎉🤸🏾‍♂️ The lovely Thelma is booked in for surgery with Lauren from Northcoast Vets on Monday 👍
She will then recover and be cared for by the wonderful and 3-legged-dog-experienced Heidi from Heidi’s Houndstays until she is ready to come have fun at our open-air shelter.
Keep an eye out for Thelma’s adoption profile in approximately one month’s time

URGENT!! 🙏🙏
THELMA needs a FOSTER-CARER

This poor darling girl is in desperate need of some help and care.

She is a 2-3-year-old English Staffy x with a sweet nature and is seemingly really good with other dogs.

She has been ABANDONED and after x-rays at Northcoast Vets we can surmise she was hit by a car several months ago where she sustained an imbedded piece of metal in her front right leg. She has since endured extreme pain as the piece of metal slowly destroyed the nerves in her leg rendering it completely useless.

She needs to have the leg AMPUTATED (and we will have her desexed at the same time).

Thelma is very able on her remaining three legs so her recovery will only take 2-3 weeks and she will then be out of pain and running around soundly with a big smile on her face.

CAN YOU HELP US OUT? Thelma needs a loving home where she can be kept quiet for 2-3 weeks post-operatively. Please contact Shell on 0458461935.

SCOOTER UPDATE – SUCCESSFULLY ADOPTED
Although little 4yo Wire-Haired Jack Russell ‘Scooter’ had been well loved, he had lived a pretty austere and arduous life as a farm dog, surviving many associated hardships.

One of his favourite things in life was hanging out and playing with other dogs. We decided he may love a change in lifestyle together with having his very own doggo playmate.

Michelle, who is now completely besotted with Scoota, also has 4yo Jack Russell ‘Oscar’. Initially, Oscar didn’t want a bar of the newcomer, but extremely smart and social Scoota soon remedied that with sheer determination and his sparkly personality. The two are now the bestest of buddies enjoying their super fun walks and beach-time together.

Scoota settled into a more suburban lifestyle with ease; he can barely contain his pleasure at being allowed inside and up on the soft comfy luxurious sofa where he relishes his cuddles with Michelle and stretches out like a resplendent Prince with best mate Oscar.

Onya Scoota! What a little champion 👏🥰
