🐴❤️ APPRECIATION POST - SHOW HORSE & SHOW-JUMPING ❤️🐴
And that’s a wrap for the 2024 Horses at Brunswick Ag!
In a climate where numbers at shows are dwindling and some shows are removing the equestrian sections, I’m so grateful and thankful to all of you who show up to support our show and compete. As long as you keep showing up, we’ll keep doing our thing!
Firstly, Christine it’s such a pleasure and a privilege to do this event with you. Thanks for putting up with my erratic phone calls (life with a tornado toddler) and stepping up when I needed it. I love that we finally have a good photo of us together – it only took us like 8 years!
Thank you to my folks, Mossy and Linda from Outback Arabians – not only do they help me out in the lead up to and on the day, but they are also on the Brunswick Show committee and help with the busy bees and general running around. This year was particularly chaotic as they housed us from Friday til Monday, and let me tell you one daughter, four granddaughters and one horse come with a lot of luggage! 🤣
Thanks to Bree from Holistic at Heart, who came on as a sponsor this year but also came to help out. I think you spent most of your time containing the tornado 2-year-old, which is a job not for the faint hearted! I appreciate you so much, thank you.
Thank you to all the many hands that help both before the day and on Sunday from the Brunswick Show Ag Society – they are usually all very tired from the day before, but still show up to help us prep the oval in the early hours of the morning and continue cleaning up over the course of the day. It’s by their support that we can successfully run the Horses at Brunswick Ag.
Once again, thank you to the amazing men and women from the Riding For The Disabled Association Australia South West Centre. Every year we can count on them to show up and help with pencilling, picking up poles, marshalling, handing out ribbons etc. We appreciate you so much, and we’d really be lost without you. Good, reliable volunteers are hard to find!
Thank you to Leanne, Jo and Tony for working in the canteen making egg and bacon burgers, plus preparing all the food for our judges, officials and volunteers. We all loved our lunch bags, and it was so nice to know that you guys had it all figured out and under control!
Thank you to the food vans who stayed for Sunday – I had a particularly delicious chai latte, such a treat!
Big thanks to our wonderful judges Tracy Hockley, Shannon Mitchell, Kim Thomas and Phil Hargreaves, plus Phil’s 2IC Debbie. I love that our judges take the time to offer help and feedback to riders, to encourage them and help them improve.
Thank you to Michelle from Morrison Photography for capturing some of our show-jumping and the Top Score event, plus taking a couple of snaps of Christine and I before we both collapsed for the evening!!
Once again, thanks to our fantastic sponsors: Mike and Judy Reeve, JP Norton Memorial Trophy, Maud Stanley, Alison Rutten in Real Estate, Brunswick Junction Lions Club, Merrilyn Gollan, Outback Arabians, Horseland BUNBURY, Holistic at Heart and Jim and Monica Offer. If you won a Championship award, please fill out the card and send to your relevant sponsor!
Thanks to Mick and Jackie from Complete Medical Solutions for being there from event start to event finish – thankfully you weren’t needed! It was lovely to meet you and chat, and at least it was a pretty nice day to enjoy watching some jumping!
I’ve already started making some programme changes for next year whilst it’s fresh in my mind, so if you have any suggestions or requests, please just send them through via PM.
I hope you all had a wonderful day, and we look forward to hosting you next year! ❤️
