Our local Brunswick Agricultural Show is on this weekend! We can't make it but are so pleased to be sponsoring the Supreme Champion QH. Max himself won this award back in 2019! Goodluck to all the 2023 entrants! Thankyou Christine Curciarello for keeping us organised!

Max is at Western Australian Cutting Horse Association (WACHA) cutting this weekend, is very busy serving, and there is some very cool foals hitting the ground from last year's stud work.

Horses at Brunswick Ag

17/04/2023

Hi All,
Tiffany and I (Christine) have started working on the 2023 show.
We can confirm our date as SUNDAY the 29th of October.
Whilst we miss seeing horses on the main arena on show day, we do feel it is a much better day for the equestrian community. It is a less stressful day for competitors, horses and ourselves. It has allowed us to expand our programs to include the Stockhorse Challenge and Showjumping Presidents cup and we are not under the same time or space constraints that we have on show day.
So before we get to "we must get this program out now mode" I am putting out an early call for any changes you would like to see to the program, please keep in mind we have not gain another oval to be able to start a new sections (Novelities, Carriage driving, Extra Show horse or Breed ring)
The 3 ideas that we have already been given that are in the works are:
Moving the Stockhorse led down the program so less time between led and ridden.
Have a SOS Pony and SOS Horse, I just need a sponsor
Fancy Dress
If you have any other suggestions or want to show support to current suggest please leave a friendly comment or send as a PM
Cheers Christine

*Breed and Stockhorses*
Show 2022 was always going to be unique, exceptional, challenging and bittersweet, it was all of the above. Whilst I never had a second thought if to continue with the show, I certainly would not have been able to pull it off without some very special people.

Thank you and congratulations to all the competitors that came out and supported the show, I glad I was able to support our new competitors. A very special congratulations to our Supreme of Supreme, Top 5 Supreme, our Champion of Champions and lastly Margaret's Choice, I believe Margaret (Mum) would have been surprised to see so many come out to honour her.

Margaret's Choice was a celebration of Mum and her love of horses (and sewing with the embroidered garland) Margaret's family (Mum's sister, longest friend, husband, daughters and grand daughters) had a very hard decision. We were looking for a horse that shared a strong bond with their person and we could see mum going for a casual ride. I do plan to continue with Margaret's in 2023.

Thank you to my fantastic judges Deb, Donna, Dawn and Nycole that kept the show running and a had some difficult decision to make especially in the Champion of Champions and SOS.

Thank you to ladies from Riding For The Disabled Association Australia South West Centre that were are pencillers for the day, we honestly cannot run such an event without you.

To our fabulous sponsors Kismet Thomas, SKT Breaking and Pre-Training, Amani Downs Performance Horses (Emily Marston), Ovarit Jumps, Rose Hotel Bunbury, Outback Arabians, The VitalityFit Retreat, ASHS WA South West Branch, Maximus Metallica, Olmies Organics & Yoni Spa, Witherin Park (Kerrily Worden) Hitherin Park (Trudy West), Spencer Motors Mazda, Diamond Dream Ponies (Kelly Purnell) Chrissy May Photography- Christine Curciarello and Dr Steve Thomas, MLC.

A very big thank you to Michelle from Morrison Photography for looking after the photography for the event, I would like to be able to clone myself to be able to shoot myself, it was such a relief to know the photos were in such great hands. I will share the link once the photos are ready to go.

The team from ASHS WA South West Branch for stepping up and running a challenge at the show at really short noticed. I am super excited to see where this can go.

Thank you to Jenni and people from Capel Regional Equestrian Park - CREP for running a canteen.

A very big thank you to those from the Brunswick Show who came out early Sunday to help us set up. This is one of the big challenges of running the show on Sunday and we really could not do it with out you.

A very big thank you to Sarah, I honestly could not run this show with out her, Sarah has been helping at the show for the last 6 years and has made such a big impact and gives me so much support on show day.

Finally Tiffany, thank you thank you thank you and congratulations so such a fabulous Horses in Action section. We have become a such a strong team, running the horse as 1 section not as 2. You have bought such positive energy into the show and you always make the lead up to the show fun and interesting. Your kids and parents are such an important part of the behind the scenes that makes to all possible.

26/10/2022

Tiffany clocking on here to post a massive thank you and appreciation post for the Show Horse/Show-Jumping side of the 2022 Brunswick Show Gymkhana.

It’s the third year that the horses have run on a separate day to the main Brunswick Show. Whilst this does come with its own unique challenges, I think it is pretty safe to say that the horse events have way outgrown the ability to run on the Saturday with the main show. Isn’t it nice not to panic about parking!!?

Firstly a massive thanks to Christine over in the Breed Events for all her amazing efforts in organising every year, this year being an exceptional one. Margaret would have loved it. It was so nice to see so many supporting the Breed and Stockhorse events, and I loved the winner of Margaret’s Choice. Well done to your team (looking at you, Sarah) for all their hard work too.

Thanks to my folks over at Outback Arabians who helped out so much before, during and after the Show – thank you for being my arms and legs around the place now I’m living in Bridgetown! Thanks also to my kidlets who helped look after their baby sister, ran to get tea and coffee orders, picked up poo and rubbish around the grounds, and lots more. Thank you to Bree for coming and helping on the desk, being a pair of hands when needed - your first horse show behind the scenes! ❤️

Thanks to the wonderful people of the Brunswick Show Ag Society for their support in our Sunday events – they were there early even after a long day the day before, helping to clean up and set up all our grounds. The hands working behind the scenes in the office deserve so much gratitude also. Many hands make light work, so thank you!

Thanks to the amazing men and ladies at the Riding For The Disabled Association Australia South West Centre, they come every year (and we had some new faces this year!) to pencil, hand out ribbons, pick up poles etc. Without them, we’d be up the creek. Thank you to Mary, our show-jump marshal! It’s wonderful to see you every year, thank you for volunteering! And thank you to all the odd helpers here and there who saw a need and fulfilled it without being asked, or offered help at set up/clean up time.

Thanks to the lovely Capel Regional Equestrian Park - CREP team headed up by Jenny, who supplied a canteen for the day. The food was AMAZING. So nice to know all our volunteers, judges and team will be fed for the day!

Thanks to the coffee, donut and icecream vans too!

Thank you to our wonderful judges Eileen Morris, Christine Blowfield, Shannon Mitchell and Phil Hargreaves. Thanks to Debbie, Phil’s penciller and 2IC, for helping build the course and make the show-jumping run smoothly. For those who don’t know, Phil actually ran the show-jumping for a number of years but moved to Victoria in 2020. He called me earlier in the year to say he was going to drive over and would run he show-jumping – so he made an extra long trip! Thank you Phil!

Thanks to our photographers for the day: Christie Lyn - Perth Show Horse Photographer, Cheryl Hanrahan Photography, Fox Folly Photography, with Morrison Photography over at the Breed section. Please support these guys and give their FB pages a like!

Thank you to our amazing sponsors: M&J Reeve, Vic Sales Memorial, Maud Stanley, Brunswick Lions Club, Roswa Park Farmstay, Merrilyn Gollan, Gilly Johnson, Outback Arabians, Results Based Nutrition & Supplements, Christie Lyn - Perth Show Horse Photographer, Horseland BUNBURY, Julianne Hill and Go The Distance Stockfeeds - Wokalup. If you received a Championship award, please make sure to fill in the card and say thanks. If you rode on the day, please make sure to say thanks to all the sponsors and show them some appreciation. They are the reason we are able to have such great prize money and vouchers! Please also consider thanking the team at the Brunswick Agricultural Society and Outback Arabians for their hard work on the new yards. Watch this space for further upgrades in the future!

Thanks to Luke and the team at the St John WA - Brunswick for being right there ready to help when needed. We appreciate your time and medical expertise when/if situations arise!

Thank YOU to all who came and supported the 2022 Brunswick Show Gymkhana. We had such an exceptional turnout, and the atmosphere was so great. Without you guys supporting the Show, we wouldn’t be able to run. The weather was just perfect, and the President’s Trophy Chase Me Charlie went so well. The ponies and horses jumped amazingly and it was a little nail biting to see who would come out triumphant!

I’m working on a little write up with results and some photos, so keep your eyes peeled. My apologies if I’ve forgotten anyone, I’m currently writing this with a teething baby sleeping on me!

Hope you all had a great day and a great time. As with everything, we have things we are planning to improve on next year, but on the whole I think we had a pretty sensational day. See you all next year! 🐴🥳

Did you know October is Breast Cancer Month?
As some of you may be aware, earlier this year Margaret's 5 year battle with breast cancer came to a end.
To honour Margaret and to raise awareness we will be selling Pink Ribbon pins at the Stewards tent at the Horses at Brunswick Ag.
Proceeds will go to Jane McGrath Foundation. Mum had a Breast care nurse as part of her early treatment.
Pins will be available for $3 each or 2 for $5
Alternative if you are unable to attend on the Sunday donations can be made here.

11/10/2022

We have our Rosettes for Top 5 Supreme of Supreme and for our Champion of Champions.
SOS and COC are judged in front of our 3 judges. Each judge is given a page with all the breeds listed, the judges then mark 5 to 0, 5 being their pick for SOS or COC. Then 2 people will add up the scores to give us our SOS, Top 5 and COC and reserves. To make the tally up easier, when you enter the arena we will ask you for just 1 breed that you are Supreme or Champion of. This is so all the judges mark the same horse as the same breed.
We have used this method of judging the SOS for a number of years, we have found it is the favourite for the judges and the fairest way to find the winner amongst 3 judges. - Christine
BTW there is only 1 more week to get your entries in.

We have had a slight change in plans.... we have had to do a judge juggle.
Eileen Morris has moved from the Breed rings over to the Official Showhorse.... Donna Reader has moved to Ring 3 in the breed section and we welcome Dawn Soloman to Ring 2 of the breed section.
This has also brought about a change in classes for the stock horse ridden including the addition of a TIME TRIAL!!!!
If you have already entered the Stock horse ridden we will contact you to change your classes. If you are yet to enter please hold off until we can change them on nominate.
PLEASE note that some paper copies will not reflect these changes.
