SAMSON.
Samson & his family dropped in while visiting from Broome. His owners were having trouble with him running off to other dogs & people when off lead & getting over excited & jumping on people.
His owners have been utilising a long line but were finding in hard to contain his excitement as soon as the lead was off..
Our session was focused on rewarding desired behaviours, self control exercises & conditioning Samson to an ecollar for happy & reliable recalls.

Miss Ziggy was very tired after our session of recalls at the beach, loose lead walking & place training. Such a clever little girl who picked up things very quickly.

Last week we started our first ever round of dachshund classes. It was so heart-warming to see all improvements in the dogs as they attended their 2nd week this week.
We are super excited to see how amazing they will be after 4 weeks! Well done everyone.

Domestic violence affects ALL family members, including pets.

The WA Government's annual campaign, running from 25 November to 10 December, aims to raise awareness for and advocate against gender-based domestic violence. This year's theme is stopping family and domestic violence by .

We are reminding everyone that our program called Pets in Crisis is available to help those who are trying to escape family and domestic violence but can't out of fear from what would happen to their pet if they were left behind.

Our FREE service provides a temporary home for pets whose owners are experiencing immediate family and domestic violence. Once we receive a referral from a caseworker, pets are placed in a loving foster home for up to three months while the owner seeks refuge or temporary accommodation of their own.

Pets in Crisis is open to all domestic pets including cats, dogs, and pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, and mice!).

People should never have to choose between leaving a pet behind and their own safety. The Pets in Crisis program gives pet owners peace of mind knowing that their pet is safe and being well cared for, letting them focus on their own safety.

Anyone living in the Perth metropolitan area, the South West region, and in the Great Southern region is eligible for this program. You can find out more by heading to the 🔗 in the comments. 👇

MR BEAN 🫘
We have really enjoyed working with this cool little dude.
He is a 18 month old chihuahua cross. He is very trainable & LOVES people.
He had come along way with improving his social skills with other dogs.

Great results:
Estimated 150 people attended.
70 health checks. Some were recommended for follow-up treatment and desexing.
23 microchips implanted.
35 one-year registrations with City of Bunbury.
Approx 150 units of parasite prevention for dogs and cats (including Bravecto donated by Bunbury Vet Clinic).
Around 100kgs of dog and cat food, plus extra treats from SAFE Bunbury and Mars Pet Care.
A range of donated toys, leads, collars and other pet accessories were available.

One of my favourite services that we offer is doing temperament tests for Therapy Dogs Australia.
This week, I caught up with one of my favourite teams, Hilary & Cora. They were amazing at working together in the Bunbury Library.
I have had the honour of watching this team grow & learn together & love the amazing way there help in mental health.
