Dr. Gabby will be out of the office this weekend, as she attends a conference dedicated to palliative care and supporting the elderly during their golden years. During this time, responses may be delayed until regular business hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience on behalf of our future clients. Thank you for your understanding.

In the ever-evolving veterinary field, continuous education is essential to stay updated on the latest standards of care and enhance the quality of life for our pets through the science behind the knowledge. During this full-day conference, Dr. Gabby will expand her knowledge to ensure she provides her patients with the best care possible for an extended, pain-free life.

Key topics at the conference will include feline geriatric comfort and care, integrative approaches to palliative care, rehabilitation tips for neuro patients, palliative care for exotic animals, strategies for supporting clients during difficult goodbyes, and innovative approaches to managing dental disease in palliative care patients.

I talk so often about the importance of ensuring our pets have emotional and mental enrichment opportunities.

So how do we achieve this?

We are lucky in Bundaberg to have multiple local clubs that allow us to teach our dogs new and exciting things, or give them an outlet for an instinctual behaviour. Just a few opportunities locally include agility, obedience, scent work, and rally-o dog sports. One such club is the Obedience Dog Club of Bundaberg Inc. who are hosting a sporting event this coming weekend!

Show your support by purchasing raffle tickets, sharing the club, or coming down to watch me and my own border collie Moose try to navigate the Rally-O course.

I often get asked, 'Do you have scales to weigh my pet?' The answer is a definite YES! While I can make pretty good guesses about their weight, accuracy is crucial for correct medication dosages. This morning, I had the pleasure of visiting Lexie and Lumen for their annual heartworm injection. They were such great models—proof that a little treat goes a long way!

Let’s hear it for Dr. Gabby, who has recently completed her Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Acupuncture after 2.5 years of dedicated hard work and study. She balanced it all - building a business from scratch, secret behind the scenes projects (reveals coming soon...), raising a family, and keeping up with a Border Collie - while facing every challenge life threw her way and smashing it out of the park!

It’s been a year of wagging tails, purring cuddles, and heroic tales of pet adventures - or misadventures for some. To celebrate, we threw a office party where the only thing more exciting than the treats is the joy we’ve shared with all our amazing furry patients and their humans!

Here’s to many more years of making tails wag and contented purrs. Thanks for letting us be a part of your pets' lives—cheers to a pawsitively awesome year ahead!
