Proper aftercare is crucial for your pet’s recovery after desexing surgery. 🐶🐱🏥

Follow these steps to ensure your pet heals quickly and without complications:

Limit Exercise:
• For 10 days after surgery, avoid running, jumping, and walking. ️🐕🚫
• Keep your pet in a small space like a pen, room, or cage to limit movement. 🏠
• Always keep your pet on a lead when going out for bathroom breaks to prevent them from running off or chasing distractions. 🐾

Wound Care:
• Keep the cone on! The cone prevents your pet from licking, biting, or chewing the incision site, which is crucial for healing. 🐾💡 Even if your pet seems calm or doesn’t show interest in the wound, DO NOT remove the cone for the full 10 days. 🛑 Animals can be sneaky, and any contact with the wound can lead to infection, inflammation, and wound breakdown.
• Don’t worry – they are still able to eat, drink and sleep while wearing the cone thanks to its flexible structure. 🍽️💤

What to Watch For:
• Look for redness, swelling, or discharge around the incision, or if your pet’s gums aren’t their usual healthy pink colour. 🔴🩸
• Immediate action is key—contact us right away if you notice these symptoms. Early intervention is crucial to prevent complications. ⏰📞

Proper aftercare, especially keeping the cone on, is vital to avoid painful infections, wound breakdown, and the need for additional treatments, which could result in more discomfort, longer recovery, and increased costs. 💰💉

Meet the beautiful Moo, a resilient cattle dog who’s been through a lot in her 4 years, but still manages to stay loving, kind, and gentle. 🐾 Today, Moo came in for her heartworm test and her monthly Beransa injection. While she’s no fan of the vet (after all, she’s had her fair share of surgeries and treatments), she still managed to charm us all by showing off her tricks in exchange for extra treats! 🦴 The Beransa injection helps Moo manage her advanced arthritis and move more freely, easing the pain she feels.
