When you need your feet done and you are super chill about it…. There aren’t too many horses that lie down to have their feet examined but it definitely makes it easier on our backs!!
CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO!!! A little photo montage of our year in review… some great pics in here of the best team ever!!!
This is a video of Megan, one of our vets, administering an inhalant drug to a horse named Ginger with a spacer. She has been diagnosed with an inflammatory condition of her lower airways. Steroids are being administered directly into her airways, similar to how it is used in a person with asthma. As you can see in the video, Ginger is tolerating it really well. It is great to see all the different ways we can administer medications and what can be achieved with some desensitisation training and a calm horse.
Sound on for this one!!! Dennis was a poddy lamb that was raised by our receptionist, Suzie. Once he was grown, he went to live on a farm like a real sheep. Recently Suzie went to visit him and we love how he totally remembered her!! Sheep make such wonderful pets - they can be so loving.
Ever wondered what it looks like to pregnancy test a cow?? Well wonder no more… this is Dr Chris showing us how it is done. Chris is using an ultrasound probe rectally to visualise the uterus. As you can see, he is a pro!
HORSE MANURE!!!! We have an abundance of it and mamma cat, Basil and stew-it are sick of looking at it! If you want some, give us a call and bring a trailer. First in, best dressed. Run don’t walk.
More foal spam following on from our last post!
Dr Clem attended an emergency over the weekend where a mare was very unwell post foaling. Her foal was only 15 hours old. Unfortunately the mare could not be saved. The experienced owners at Coliban Quarter Horses have been bottle feeding the foal over the weekend. Today he was successfully introduced to his new mum who already has a 1 week old baby of her own. It takes a special kind of mare to take a second foal, so this is very special to watch.
This is what it looks like to vaccinate 10 puppies! These adorable chow puppies received their first vaccination and microchip today at the owner’s property. It may look like it was recorded in fast forward, but it’s just that Stacy moves really, really fast ;)
A few weeks ago we posted about a lost kitten that was very sick who had been dropped at the clinic. He wasn’t microchipped and no owner came forward. He was taken into care by one of our nurses and we are please to announce he is thriving! His name is Derrick and the nurse who was caring for him has decided to keep him! This is Harlow letting Derrick know he is loved and very welcome in his new home.
Mamma cat is just a constant source of entertainment for all of us here at Bungendore Vet…. Here she is taking a stallion for a walk. She has no fear (and has picked a very lovely boy to play with).
Was anyone else’s furry friend absolutely obsessed with Muster Dogs as much as our mate Ludo was? As you can see he was glued to the screen (unfortunately though his owner reports he did not pick up any new tricks). What a great show and very interesting viewing for every member of the family!
Stew-it reunited with his brothers recently for a game of fetch. His excitement is next level.
I think most of our clients have had the pleasure of meeting Stewit, but you may not of had the pleasure of seeing him gracefully sprint for treats. If you too want to see how excited he gets for a carrot stick, you are most welcome to bring him some anytime. He will definitely love you forever (or at least until someone else brings him more).
ADORABLE DUCKLINGS
Check out these two cuties enjoying swims! They are wood duck siblings separated from their family by an unfortunate incident who are now in care with one of our vet nurses. Once they are old enough and taught to fend for themselves, they’ll be released back into the wild.
If you find ducklings on their own, collect them to keep them safe and warm before checking the area for the rest of their family. If you can’t find any, make detailed notes on the area you found them and contact Wildcare or take them to the nearest vet.
It may not be what she had in mind for her holiday but Dr. Clem’s pets are making the most of it and keeping her entertained.
How did your pets help you enjoy your holiday at home?
A “Handy” Test!
Before your cat gets too comfortable with their new fit selves - and start showing off to the dog - let’s get started on canine weight health!
Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be discussing general guidelines as well as specific tips for fitness and weight loss for different breeds and sizes.
Please note that advice given in our posts is aimed at pets who have a bit extra on them to love but are otherwise healthy.
If your pet has, or your think they may have, an underlying medical issue, or has not had an annual health check within the past year, please make an appointment to see a vet before beginning any diet or fitness regime.
