Training your horse with there legs,
one of the most crucial peices of groundwork in a horses foundation, something that is often missed or forgotten about.
And not only does it make them a better horse, but it makes our jobs as trimmers, farriers, vets, massage therapists, anyone in the horse industry really, a whole lot easier, and not to mention, safer.
Its a given that working in the horse industry, we are going to get knocked around, kicked or bitten, (iv been kicked/tapped more times then i care to admit🫢🫣)
Owners often ask "what can i do to help", and sometimes my answer is as simple as, picking your horses feet up randomly, whatever your doing with them, walking, working, moving and feeding them, anytime, anywhere, is always beneficial for you, me, and your horse.
I will always play my part in helping your horse, and helping you, where ever i can, as i know full well how overwhelming it can be, but you as owners definitely play the biggest part inbetween the trimming cycle
No horse is going to be perfect 100% of the time, even my lot get fresh and test the boundaries from time to time, thats usually them telling me, i need to get out and do some ground work tune ups.
Heres my yearling filly demonstrating how beneficial it is to teach how to pick up feet
