How cute is little Sunny? She definitely was the highlight of Dr Michel’s day! Sunny came in for her second vaccination and a check over. After receiving lots of treats and cuddles she went on her way.☀️🐾

If you have been wondering why we have been quiet on social media since Christmas, the last few weeks over the holiday period, we have been a very busy clinic🩺🏥

We have seen multiple cases of snake bites, hit by cars, stitch ups, emergency abdominal surgeries, toxicity cases, cesareans and grass seeds cases just to name a few. Thank you to all our wonderful clients who moved their regular appointments so we could treat patients in need.🐾🏥

The southwest has no after hours emergency clinic like Perth does, our vets and nurses take in a considerable amount of after hours work to keep up with the demand of the growing southwest. Our staff have worked endlessly to provide care to multiple emergencies within hours and after hours. They have dedicated their time to helping critical patients in need and giving up their own family time over weekends, Christmas and New Years to get through the abundance of sick patients.

The vet industry can be hard physically, emotionally and mentally, particularly the long hours it entails. We would like to say a massive thank you to all our wonderful vets, nurses and receptionists for their dedication, hard work and compassion. Without them there would be no after hours service and no clinic! Thank you to all our clients for your patience and understanding over the last few weeks! 💜💛

🐍Snake Season🐍

It’s that time of the year again when the weather is getting warmer and the snakes are out!
Gidget here had a play date with a snake and was rushed into the clinic when her owners noticed she was vomiting and had collapsed. Gidget arrived unconscious and minutes away from death. Our team of vets and nurses quickly got to work to save Gidget’s life, after intensive care and life support she pulled through. Gidget has now recovered and is back at home with her owners. 💜💛

Do you know the signs of a snake bite?🐍

🌸On Wednesdays we wear wild scrubs for charity!🌸
For the next few months we will be raising money for Fawna, who work tirelessly to take care of our Western Australian wildlife. They are a non profit organisation run by volunteer carers. They spend endless hours caring for all the critters great and small, including our endangered western ringtail possums!

A foster mum has been found for the little orphaned foal, such a lovely outcome for these two. 💜

Harradine & Associates have done a tremendous effort at fostering on the foal to a new mum and navigating through a very difficult and stressful situation for these two 🐴

Update 21/10 **Foster Mare found** thankyou to everyone who shared our post, we are pleased to report a foster mare has been found and she has adopted our little orphan 🥰

URGENT - FOSTER MARE REQUIRED (Bunbury, WA). Ideally we require a mare that has recently foaled (in the last 7 days), but sadly lost her own foal. If you know of a mare that may be suitable, please call the clinic 9796 5800

🟡Have you ever seen bladder stones?🟡

Bladder stones are rock-like formations of minerals that develop in the urinary bladder. There may be a large, single stone, or a collection of stones that range in size from sand-like grains to gravel.

Bladder stones can develop within a few weeks or may take months to form. The rate of urolith formation and growth varies, depending on factors such as diet, urine pH, and how much crystalline material is present in the urine.

Little muffin presented to the clinic with straining to urinate and discomfort in the abdomen. After a urine test, palpation of the abdomen and X-rays, we discovered that she had bladder stones! She was admitted for a surgery called a cystotomy, a procedure to access and open the bladder so that the stones can be removed. We found multiple stones! Muffin is now recovering and feeling much better after her procedure 💜💛

A rare photo of Dr Paul with an orphaned lamb, it’s not often that Dr Paul makes an appearance on the Geovet social media! Between travelling all over the southwest to see his large animal patients, owning a business and maintaining his own property, he’s a busy man! But not too busy for a quick cuddle with a lamb! 🐑

This is Barney who belongs to one of our lovely clients, Heidi. Barney was staying with Heidi’s daughter for awhile in Perth when he decided it was a fantastic idea to escape out the balcony and go on an adventure. Meanwhile Heidi searched all over for him and even reached out to the local community pages to find him, she eventually found him in a wall cavity nearby after 4 days of searching! After trying to get him out she had to call in the fire brigade to recover him. 🚒🐱

Barney has now been reunited to a very worried Heidi and now is safe at home in Busselton. Dr Di checked Barney over for any injuries and found him in perfect condition from his big adventure. Dr Di prescribed rest and recovery at home with lots of cuddles!💜💛
