(35)

Located in a purpose built hospital at 60 Bussell Hwy, Busselton we are a veterinary business with a difference. We pride ourselves on communication (both with you and your pet). We take the time to get to know you and allow time for your pet to get to know us. We allow longer consulting times so we have time to fully examine your pet and make a healthcare plan tailored to your pets needs. We are

the first regional WA ASAVA accredited "Hospital of Excellence" which means that you are getting the best treatment options for your beloved companion in a first class facility. Our mission is to keep your pet as healthy/happy as we can so you can have them in your life for as long as possible.

3 Way After-Hours Rostering

We would like to thank all our wonderful clients for their understanding about our previous shared after-hours agreement with Vasse Vets. This has been running very successfully to cover our patients’ needs as well as giving all of our Vets an improved outlook on life!

In the last few months, we have also been in discussions with Dunsborough Vet Hospital, and they will join us and Vasse Vets on a weekend after-hours rota starting in November. This after-hours arrangement runs from 1pm Saturday afternoon to 8am Monday morning, on a 3 week rotating basis.

If one of the other hospitals is on-call then you will have to travel to their hospital, but I’m sure that you will agree that this is a small price to pay for the mental health of so many Vets in our area.

Thank you so much for your understanding and your continued partnership in having happy and healthy animal companions.

Dr Richard is looking forward to joining Dr Felicity Bradshaw to present information at this session for volunteers wildlife carers in our local area the weekend. We are grateful to be able to help our n local wildlife especially our beautiful Western Ringtail Possums

If you are a wildlife rehabilitator working with possums, First Aid for Possums is for you.

This training opportunity will bring local wildlife rehabilitator groups together to ensure all groups have access to the same current first aid procedures, information, and knowledge. It is also an excellent opportunity for networking between groups working towards common goals.

“Having the training delivered by local vets with local knowledge is of great importance to the survival of possums and other native wildlife” says WRAG member Jo Kennedy from Dunsborough Busselton Wildlife Care.

FAWNA wildlife rehabilitator Suzanne Strapp is looking forward to sharing knowledge with experts in the field of native animal rehabilitation.

“Local vets are dealing with injured possums all the time and are best positioned to share their expertise and experience with volunteer wildlife rehabilitators. This will give the critically endangered Western Ringtail Possum the best chance of survival after injury or illness,” said Suzanne.

Million Paws Walk done for another year!!

Thank you so much to all who attended the event on Sunday!!

It was hugely successful!!

Through a combination of the Busselton & Vasse Vets Raffles, Merchandise, Ticket Sales and other donations we managed to raise a little over $2450 for RSPCA's animals in need.

Very well done to all who came along for a bit of fun and exercise!!

Once again, a huge thank you to the Stall Holders City of Busselton Rangers, Geo Catch, Vasse Vets, Heritage Vets, Butter Up Cake Co and Bean Dreamin' Coffee!! And another huge thank you to the Raffle Contributors Cape Cellars Busselton, Hillzeez Busselton, City Farmers Busselton, and Viva Books!!

An extra big thank you also goes to Asher from Geo Bay Dog Training who not only conducted the fun games for the day, but also contributed a 5 Class Pass toward our Raffle!!!

Special shout out must also go to superstar Deanne for organising the day on behalf of our vet hospital. She put in a huge effort and lots of her own time. We would also like to thank our team that were able to get down there and run our Busselton Vet stall and the registration/merchandise stalls. We appreciate you giving up some of your weekend and family time to volunteer for the event.

Thank you all so much again!!

We hope to see you all there next year!!

We are happy to be supporting "Pets' Night In" again this year. Dr Richard houses Hobbes inside with the family and in his outdoor catio all year to keep him and the local wildlife safe.

Please take the pledge, keep your pet inside and look at ways for housing your pets responsibility.

Join local vet Dr Richard Lucas in pledging to keep your pets contained on , Monday 5th June.

Dr Richard Lucas confirmed that keeping pets contained protects both our pets and local fauna, such as the Western Ringtail Possum. “Keeping pets inside saves lives, both pets and precious native wildlife. The Western Ringtail Possum is critically endangered. Anything we can do to help them has a huge impact due to their low population numbers,” said Dr Lucas.

We’ve had a bunch of beds dropped off to the clinic for SAFE over the last few months which were out in the shed. SAFE have told us that they have enough beds so we had a tidy up and brought them into the office to see if we could find a good home for them. Pippin has decided that he can use all of them 🤣. We’ve told him that’s too many beds for one dog and rehomed them to a few other pups who need them 🙄

Smart gardening but no fashion statement 🤣📸
Good way to reuse a surgical gown tho. The zucchini needed a tidy up and it’s very prickly so Cathie had the clever idea for me to gown up for the job. Worked a treat and kept me clean and itch free. Will have more zucchini’s in no time. Have a great weekend everyone.

Christmas Presents

Our toy order has arrived just in time for Christmas. These Clean Earth toys are made from recycled water bottles. They have been very popular and Ava has already chosen a Fox (Freddy) for her present this year.

We also have WAG treat order arriving tomorrow in case your dog would prefer a goats horn or a kangaroo treat from Santa this year.

If anyone is wondering what the clinic dogs Pippin & Ava get up to while we are all busy looking after you and your pets…….the answer is a whole lot of sleeping…..haha….
These two are best mates and when they aren’t taking turns on a goats horn or teasing each other with Barry the bear toy they enjoy cuddling up under my desk together 💞

Congratulations to our recent puppy school graduates. Next class starts Wednesday 7th Sept and at the moment we still have a couple of spots left so get in quick.

Puppy school is a great way to help your new pup master basic commands and most importantly learn to socialise in a safe and constructive environment. The ideal time to attend classes is when your pup is appropriately vaccinated and in the age bracket of 12-16wks.

Asher from Geobay Dog Training runs our puppy school and does a great job at getting the puppies off to a great start in their education while having fun aswell

Wednesday night is a favourite time for all at the clinic as we get to see all the cute puppies. Please let us know if you would like some more information.

Over the last few weeks we have been asking our team what ”The Tree” means to them. Now it’s your turn. What feelings or thoughts does the Memorial Tree evoke in you. We want the memories in the tree to be more than ours. They are your furbabies after all 💕🌈

The First Step

We came up with the idea of the memorial tree years ago at a conference which a small group of our team attended. Industry conferences are a great place to share and create as you are surrounded by likeminded peers but you are in a more creative space outside of the daily routine of time in the clinic. Due to the troubles in the world over the last few years it has taken us a while to finally get the ball rolling on the project. It will be worth the wait.

The first step toward creating the tree was to find an artist to share the journey with us. I have no artistic ability and apart from knowing we wanted a tree with leaves to write the pets names on we were starting with a pretty blank canvas. Luckily I stumbled across Tom Ansell on Facebook. Tom is a local artist who grew up in Busselton and studied at ECU in the South West. Upon meeting Tom I could see that he really understood what we are trying to achieve. He is very invested in his work and after a few conversations we decided that a gum tree was the only way we could go. Tom then researched local gum trees and we settled on the concept tree for our mural.

An important part of the decision for our business was to select a local artist. Someone with roots in our community and an understanding of our area. One of our core values at Busselton Vet is to support our community and we are grateful to be able to promote Tom’s work. We are sure that the tree he is creating will become a “must see” part of his portfolio.
