Beautiful Banjo is learning not to chase cars.
He had a great lesson and didn’t chase one!
He also is learning the ‘Leave it’ cue.
The leave it means you can’t have what you want right now.
He is walking past a bunch of food on the ground and isn’t allowed to eat it.
I teach this with food and transfer it over to other things, ie cars as we go ahead.
Banjo and his handler Kieran are doing an amazing job together.

I am so excited as this year I am going to be collaborating with Dr Katrina Warren and will get to present with her on stage!
I will also be doing my own presentation later in the day.

Hulk is having trouble with the big wide world and lets it be known by barking and lunging.
Today Hulk is starting his journey by learning how to walk nicely on lead.
Foundation behaviours are extremely important to have before tackling the big stuff. I am looking forward to seeing how he progresses!

When you take your new gimbal to video some footage with a client and unfortunately you video on full speed, you have to take some still shots instead!
Here is Tilly going for a walk around the gardens. She did so well learning to pass the other dogs without kicking off.
She started out a bit unsure but ended on a positive note walking past dogs barking behind the fence and making good choices.

Here she is today walking on a long line without restraint, meandering around next to Buck without paying him any attention.

Flexi leads are a great tool for giving our dogs a little freedom on their walks.
It is important our dogs understand the cue to come back to heal for instances like walking past other people or dogs.
Always be respectful of others around us when we are using a flexi!
I am so proud of these two!
Winnie and Pooh are gaining confidence every day.
We went for a stroll around town and they were able to settle in and see dogs and people without going over threshold.
It was lovely to see how far they have come 💜💜

Look at these awesome boys from Studio Groomed! Vander did so well with his lesson so we were able to get Omari out as a distraction. I highly recommend Stef and her team at Studio Groomed for all your grooming needs. These girls are not only great groomers, they are in it for the dogs.
Mel and Bambi training the Recall Cue. Recall is one of the most important cues your dog will ever learn. Train with a long line so your dog learns that whenever you say ‘come’ they have to return to you. If they choose to ignore you, you have a way of encouraging them back.
The recall is such an important cue. When we recall our dogs, it’s generally because we need them to return. When teaching the recall cue, we start on a long line and if the dog ‘blows us off’ we have a physical way of ensuring that they are successful. I always teach that unless your recall is reliable, keep the long line on whilst training until you and your dog are successful. In this video, you can see how powerful a recall can be. The Monster is sleeping under the house as I am walking around my paddock. As you can see, he knows exactly what the cue means. You may also notice that my other two dogs don’t come. The reason for this is that I have taught them to only act when their names are called first. When I need them all to recall, I will say ‘boys come’ and they all respond.
Leash reactivity? What leash reactivity!! 🐾 When Pippa first came to me she couldn’t even walk outside without showing signs of stress due to being attacked by two dogs in the past. She would bark and lunge at any dog she saw. 💪 Look at her now! Her owners have put in the hard work and we are getting great results 💜
Bambi had a great lesson today. She learned how to drop, walk on a lead, wait and the start of recall training 💜🐾
This is Shadow learning to walk nicely on lead. His owners described him as a freight train. After one short lesson, this is how he finished up walking. With consistency, this is what can be achieved 🐾

I’m so proud of Benny and his owners. Benny used to lunge, bark and attempt to push through the door when anyone knocked. This is Benny today when I showed up! It’s so wonderful to see that Bennys family have put in their homework. Well done team!
Today Benny started to learn to not bark and rush at the front door when people arrive. When the doorbell rings, he goes to his place and sit quietly without the big blow up. This video was early on in the session. By the end of our session, The doorbell became the cue to move to his mat. Well done Benny!
