We're a retreat and urban farm offering short term accomodation, mango orchard, aipiary and function/photo destination set amongst native bushland overlooking the tranquil waters of a historic quarry. Umatah is a 15 acre property situated on the Darling Scarp in Byford. The property is approximately 40 minutes from the Perth CBD and Perth International Airport. Umatah is part of the original State

Brick Works that was closed down in the 1940’s after their excavations hit an underground spring. The property runs on organic principles and has a mango orchard, apiary, vegetable wicking beds plus various other fruit and nut trees. There is a large water-filled quarry, landscaped gardens and endless native bush land to enjoy. Produce:
When in season we produce and sell: - Umatah Mangoes: Spray free and tree ripened - Umatah Honey: 100% pure and natural (raw & cold extracted) - Mike’s Fig Compote: Locally produced using local figs (spray free). Variations include fig; fig, ginger & chilli; fig & ginger. A compote is like jam however it contains far LESS SUGAR and a LOT MORE FRUIT! Umatah is the ideal location for small outdoor functions or location photography and film shoots. We would love to hear from you and help you create something truly memorable. Umatah Experiences:
- Kayak on the quarry

- Bush walking (bushwalking tracks are right behind our property)
- Assist our Apiarist with beehive management (seasonal)
- Learn about our organic orchard management and wicking vegetable beds

Due to overwhelming demand we will open at 12:30 sunday the 9th for the Umatah followers

Happy for you to come earlier and get out of the rush and pick in peace 🌱
Remember to wear shoes and gloves if you have a reaction to the sap

Please also wear glasses as there is lots of tree branches in the orchid

We are going to open formally for the first time for Mango picking this year for green hard and sour mangoes ( perfect for pickling)

Sunday the 9th February from 2 pm to 5pm, please book a time so we don’t get too many people at the same time

$10 a kilo

Please wear shoes, bring glasses and wear gloves if you have a reaction to the Mango sap

If you can’t make this time I might be able to arrange other times next week

We have been fielding lots of requests to pick mangoes. The mangoes are way behind schedule this year( probably 6 to 7 weeks compared to last year) and are still only small in size. We plan to have a soft opening to allow small groups to come and pick the larger fruit. This will only be open to Umatah followers initially

This year the yield is low but we will keep the price at $10 a kilo

We have been fielding lots of questions on the mango picking season this year. Due to the milder spring our fruit is still only tiny or still flowering. We expect that green mangoes will be available from late January or early February at this stage.

We will keep you updated on their progress over the next couple of months
