Dear Kindred Supporters,

We are burnt out and tired, and we’ve decided to take a break to heal. We have found some beautiful gifts in being still and present with our family and the Kindreds.

We will continue to provide sanctuary and the very best care for them, and we will still send our monthly stories on our Patreon platform it you want to support us there it would be so welcome.

We do not engage in baiting and never will on our sanctuary.

We are absolutely committed to compassionate care for all animals.

We're actively learning from educated and heartfelt animal advocates about coexisting harmoniously with the wildlife in the northern rivers.

If any sanctuary wants to learn about kind ways to distract predators we are happy to share what we've learned from this tragedy.

We're in the process of implementing non-violent protective measures, guided by kind recommendations, to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals in our care and the surrounding environment.

Any rumours suggesting otherwise are not just false but hurtful. We adamantly reject any harm to any living being, and for those spreading such baseless and harmful rumours, we have no tolerance for such behaviour.

Trigger Warning ~ We need your help 🆘

Early this morning the unthinkable happened.

Predators broke into our sheep paddock and killed Willow.

Our hearts are broken.

Bella & Mumma Kelly were severely injured and devastatingly put to sleep this morning, the injuries they sustained were too horrific to repair and they were suffering immensely.

Our hearts are broken.

Jamie had a wound cleaned and needed stitches, Koko had superficial wounds that needed cleaning.

Xaabs sustained puncture sounds across his back.

Sage is battered and bruised, her legs and stomach were also wounded and cleaned up by our incredible vet Lauren. She was incredibly traumatized. We all are.

They all had pain relief and antibiotics

Rosie is physically ok. But also in shock.

We need some donations please for emergency fencing.

We estimate will be $1200, that we need to get it done today to keep our precious sheep and goat family safe.

4 young healthy friendly roosters are in need of loving homes, pick up by a member of the p***c to rehome to someone that has not come forward to collect them.

The boys deserve a great life!

One Precious Life!

Day 2 in a week of sharing Shiloh's one precious life here at Kindred with you.

When Shiloh arrived, bottle time soon became his favourite part of the day. Not just because he was being nourished but because he was so close to people.

He was desperate for attention, for touch, for love, and wanted to be with us; he craved company, missed his Mother and needed a herd of his own. He didn't know yet, but Shanti, another rescued bobby calf, would be arriving tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Shiloh and his little human friend formed a powerful bond. Two beautiful boys, being adventurous together, forging a connection made from love, nurture, nature, cuddles, zoomies and playtime together.

One precious life!

Day 1 in a week of sharing Xaambis precious life with you!

Let’s get to know him a little more….

This is our usual morning meet and greet, nose books through the fence and then straight in for kisses, cuddles, then breakfast time 💞

Xaambi was born around 4:45 pm on the 19th of September in Deepwater, NSW.

Tragically, Xaambis's beautiful Mother died while giving birth to him.

And if not for his incredible human rescuer, he would have died too...

Xaambii was unconscious when found, scooped up into loving arms, and his rescuer gave her all to help bring him back.

They share a special connection, and she visits him here.

She recognised that Xaambi was ready for his sheep family, and she lovingly (with many tears) surrendered him to live a life of love and freedom here at Kindred.

He is surrounded by loving kindness and adores his new family here.

Xaambi is naturally shy; he grows more confident every day, although he still keeps his distance from Jamie, Koko and Bella, a family group within our sheep flock. Rosie and Xaambi enjoy a close connection 💕🐑🐑

Relaxation goals!!!

It's hard to believe that almost three years ago, Taras and Karl were rescued off the side of the M1, a busy freeway in the Byron Shire. They were at risk of being hit at high speed by a passing vehicle or causing an accident.

Taras and Karl had been hanging out there for a few weeks fending for themselves, and it was quite a big day, the day of their rescue. My dear friend Kelly from and I brought them food and water, Gopala built a makeshift enclosure that we gradually made smaller and smaller while we built up their trust. It took several hours to safely help them into the car and out of harm's way.

They have grown so much in confidence and now pretty much own the place... Yes, this is where we are supposed to park our cars, but today it's their special spot 🥹

Vegan chef and author Katie White is coming from WA to collaborate with Angel founder of Kindred Spirit Sanctuary in Byron in the creation of a day of kind and delicious cooking!

Katie is a Le Cordon Bleu trained cook and author of the soon to be released book The Season Vegan.

Together chefs Katie and Angel will be sharing their knowledge on how to cook with plants to create sensational family food. 3-4 course lunch and sanctuary tour included, on the exquisite hillside property that is Kindred Spirit.

It’s been a week without Maple. There is a big space where her gentle heart was. We wanted to say thank you for all of your kind words and messages of love and support. We also wanted to thank @northcoastvetservices for your loving care right up until Maples's last breath and beyond. We miss her terribly, we’ve been looking through videos, remembering Maple and noticing more and more just how content Maple was, she lived a full and happy life, her tail always wagging when she saw us, always so relaxed with her goat and human family, chilling out, particularly in her senior years. She had her own goat swing under her favourite tree where she spent many hours leaf gazing and enjoying peace and tranquillity and of course tree stars. She enjoyed treats, love and pats and scratches every day. She had a best friend. She knew safety and she knew deep love. We miss her so much, every tear is a memory and we wouldn’t change that for the world, we have lots and lots of them xx What a privilege it has been to be part of Maples world. As we celebrate Xaabii’s ONE-YEAR-OLD HAPPY BIRTHDAY milestone, we reflect and share just how much he is like our cat, dog & human family. Seeking love, affection, comfort, wanting to be included in everything, enjoying and anticipating the family rhythm and routine. Xaabii’s Mum died when he was born; he was found unconscious and loved back to life. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the gorgeous soul who loved him and selflessly brought him to us.
