Even when we’re doing our best we can get it wrong. Or miss something or be misunderstood.

Communication is key. Especially the listening part.

We all have needs. Herding dogs want to herd, working dogs want to ‘work’.. listen to their needs and give them the exercise amd mental activity they need.

It will make for a healthier dog and happier relationship.

It doesn’t mean you have to let them herd or control everyone around them but you do need to give them a healthy outlet.

Find that balance and your dog will thank you and be their best self every day.

Listen to your dog and those around you. It is said we have two ears and one mouth, use accordingly 😀🤷🏼‍♀️

OMG! THIS IS SO GOOD!
Funny too. It’s so true that different dog breeds exude different stereotypical personalities.

Like us they vary individually of course but overall a Labrador and a German Shepherd their own way of approaching the world. And in this case, changing a light bulb! 🤣

Be sure to be open and aware to your dog’s personality. They want nothing more than to communicate with you and be your best friend.

Just don’t ask them to change a light bulb.. and definitely not the cat! 😆

Be you too. Every bit of you. Your individuality is a gift to this world.

MY HAPPY PLACE
Few things, if any, make me happier than the ocean and dogs. Together I am definitely in my happy place.

No matter the whirlwind of life, here I am grounded, nourished and connected. We are in the moment.

OK, they may be a little motivated by a treat but their joy is pure and infectious.

It fills my soul and reminds me to stay present. These dogs are not worrying, or planning, or overthinking, or critiquing themselves.. they are my gentle teachers. The only gurus I need.

I’ve had the honour of sharing a few walks with the amazing Lissy the Furry Dogmother lately. What a joy!

Find your happy place Lovers and go there often. Daily if you can. It’s the juice of life Xx

Your dog wishes you knew these 9 things about cancer before they are diagnosed.

Every week I speak with dog lovers who are distraught because their dog was just diagnosed and now they’ll do anything to make it go away.

Please don’t wait until this is you and your dog. It breaks my heart every time.

Sometimes, often times, we have great results but not always. This week a 3.5 yo French Bulldog Millie (fed exclusively on kibble) was diagnosed and 2 days later had to be let go.

It’s dog heartbreaking and oh so frustrating.

Please take cancer risk seriously TODAY!

Our Mushroom Immunity blend, Golden Buddha Paste and Miracle Greens can really help.

They can also help with arthritis.

Be the human your dog thinks you are and love them better every day.

I’m begging you.

I lost a friend today. He went into hospital a few days ago thinking it was for a small procedure and he’d be out in a day. No worries.

But things changed. Life changed. Just like that. The way it sometimes does when you least expect it.

Today they turned off his life support while surrounded by his dearest friends and his loyal, beloved dog.

This photo is at his hospital bed.

How wonderful that hospitals allow this now. They understand the precious comfort of our dogs for us in our most challenging moments.

This is so important for both dogs and their humans. We are each other’s angels.

My friend and I exchanged chats about ‘see you when you’re out of hospital’ just days ago. We had no idea that was not to be.

I’m reminded today of the teachings of the and what Ryan Holiday has taught me through his amazing channel….

Memento mori.

At any moment we could die. At some moment we inevitably will. So will your dog and all loved ones.

Make every moment count. Treasure this precious gift of life. Not only in being present every day and living as if it could be your last… Your last beach walk, conversation or belly rub. Everything is to be savoured and appreciated.

But also, don’t wait until tomorrow for anything. Not for telling someone you love them, for taking that chance on a dream, or for starting to do things to improve your health (and your dog’s) to give you both as much time and moments as possible.

Memento mori.

Fly high my friend. You will be missed. xx

TAKE THE LOVE LEAP!
I don’t share much about me and my story. I try to stay focused on dogs.

I do go on about ‘Love your dog better every day’ as a mantra and ethos though.. here’s why.. it’s not what you think.

Many years ago I was in deep grief due to the tragic loss of someone I loved very much. The truth is I didn’t want to be here anymore and struggled to find reasons to hang around.

Then, eventually, Ruby joined my life.

In caring for her more and more each day I slowly and subtly found myself coming back to life, literally.

That journey has continued over the years, with each day and each gesture of love, and I found the truth in taking care of other beings you take better care of you. Of finding, and creating, happiness, health and a better life.

Today I am proud to say that I have created my best and happiest life, ever. Although I ultimately also lost Ruby, my journey to the depths of despair to here has given me depths of being and heights of hope amd happiness that I would not have had if all that had not come before.

Along the way I’ve found teachers and tactics of wisdom, and also of dog and personal health, that I think can help everyone.. no matter where you’re at. Perhaps a little, perhaps a lot.

So (deep breath), I humbly offer on this special ‘leap day’ a 10 Day ‘Leap into Love’ Challenge. It’s an experiment for sure but also an offering of love and hope.

10 days of no cost, easy tips to help us all be better dog lovers, bringing more health and happiness to our dogs’ lives but also especially to your life.

Sign up for a daily email for 10 days that share tips, wisdom, health science and love to boost the health and happiness of you and your dog in your own home.

No sales, or switches, long reads or lessons, just tools and teachings that I think we can all easily include in our days, and our dogs’, for more happiness and health.

Will you join me?

The Chinese New Year of the Wood Dragon peaks this weekend with the celebration of the Lantern Festival, also known as the ‘true’ Chinese Valentine’s Day.

The Wood Dragon promises a year of growth, vitality and the blossoming of wisdom. There is a popular saying, “Swing on the Lantern Festival, no aches or pains the entire year”.

Tradition tells us it is a time for socialising and freedom, lighting lanterns, making offerings to the gods, moon gazing, enjoying delicious rice dumplings and even sharing riddles or writing poetry.

For many this is also a time to include the Traditional Chinese Medicine speciality of mushrooms in their festivities. Especially the shiitake mushroom known as a symbol of longevity.

Others commonly used during new year celebrations (and TCM) are cordyceps and turkey tail.

TO CELEBRATE THIS SPECIAL TIME, THIS WEEKEND ENJOY OUR MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS AT 24% OFF!

Each of our Mushroom Medleys: IMMUNITY, MOBILITY AND PUPPY include shiitake and cordyceps, plus others to suit their health intention. Our mushrooms are ‘wildcrafted’ outdoors on wood (not indoors on grain as many others are) in the Chinese mountains.

BE SURE TO INCLUDE MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR DOG THIS WOOD DRAGON YEAR.

GET YOURS NOW AT 24% OFF BEFORE MIDNIGHT SUNDAY.

“Waiting to treat an illness after they manifest is like waiting to dig a well after one is thirsty”
- ancient Chinese proverb

Don’t wait until your dog is ill to give them the these mushroom elixirs of life.

LOVE YOUR DOG BETTER EVERY DAYis the guiding principle at the heart of our ethos. Daily inspiration to care for your dog in more ways, your way.

This gives your dog a happier life, but the truth is that in doing so you too will have a better life. Stay with me.

Today is Valentines Day. For many it is a day of chocolates and declarations of love. For many more it can be a day of exacerbated singledom or loneliness even in ‘a love’ pair. Its notions of ‘romance’ though are very recent and evolved over centuries from a dark, yet pure, past.

Its origins stem from the Royal ex*****on of Valentine (an early Christian who refused to give up his new faith for the then Roman emperor) who ‘cared for’ other prisoners and miraculously cured a young girl’s blindness. He signed a final note to the girl ‘From your Valentine’ before his ex*****on by the Emperor, her father.

Valentine was known as a ‘carer’. Indeed that quality is what largely earned him his Saintliness.

Early Stoics, such as Seneca, saw ‘care’ as the key to becoming “truly human”.

Kierkegaard (1813-1855) agreed, saying that ‘care is central to understanding human life’ and ‘human authenticity’.

Soon after, influential philosopher Martin Heidegger (1889-1976), claimed that ‘we are care’ and that care is central to our ‘reason for being’. Essentially the meaning of life.

This notion will likely resonate with parents, or committed lovers who celebrate today, but it is my declaration that it should also resonate – as Valentine would attest – with those of us who love and care for our dogs.

Do not underestimate the power of your love of your dog (nor theirs for you) and see Valentine in every walk, belly rub, coat brush, wound care, vet visit and, of course, extra nutrition in their food.

Naturally, as a dog nutritionist, I want you to focus on, or at least include, the latter. But they all count.

Love is love. And care, is what it is to be human. In fact, a great human.

Love your dog better every day. Be a great human.

Happy Valentines Lovers. Let’s all celebrate.

This is fantastic news! It’s not across the line yet but it’s very close. Please keep watching and encouraging Victoria! All other states please show your representatives this legislation and ask why we don’t have the same? Or where are they on it?

Escalating charges for cruelty (including dogs) with real penalties, including jail time.

Well done Victoria! Please keep going and get this done ✅

Draft of animal care and protection act may make Victoria first state to explicitly recognise animal sentience

Nothing to see here??

I was on South Golden Beach with Romeo on Thursday morning and saw 3 people in high-vis with camel packs spraying in the bush at the edge of the dunes. I asked one of the guys what they were spraying, “Glyphosate!” he happily said. “We’re killing the weeds!”.

There’d been no sign as I’d walked in but it was there as I was leaving. Note that it says they are spraying ‘Weedmaster Duo’ and ‘Ken Met 600WG’, no mention of ‘glyphosate’, so I looked up what they both were. Essentially Glyphosate (GLP) and Metsulfuron-methyl.

Dogs explore those dunes and bush all the time! (Although we’re all wary of snakes atm…)

So I also did some research on the safety (or not) of these herbicides for dogs, and humans. Metsulfuron-methyl is apparently pretty benign but GLP ranges from safe to carcinogen.

GLP is widely used (pretty much everywhere) and while it is deemed ‘safe’, paradoxically it is also considered toxic.

Dogs can be affected by GLP by eating grass recently treated by it, they can also be exposed to it by walking on it or inhaling it, or drinking water from puddles with run-off.

Effects vary depending on the amount of exposure and presumably the underlying health of the dog. They range from skin and eye irritations, vomiting, diarrhoea, convulsions and seizures, paralysis (ataxia), anorexia, hypersalivation, lethargy, depression, slower than normal heart rate, or faster than normal heart rate. GLP has also been shown in studies to cause liver and kidney toxicity and damage.

I don’t want any of our dogs being exposed to that and if they are exposed its important to detoxify them and combat the oxidative stress it causes.

To help, I’m giving away samples of our PURE Vitamin C to our locals at South Golden Beach this weekend. (If I don’t see you at the beach feel free to get in touch).

And, for those not in our area, we’re already giving away Vitamin C and tick tweezers with all of our orders in November to help prepare our community for the current tick season. Vitamin C helps them flush the toxins from the tick treatment and also helps with recovery if they are bitten.

So, this GLP is an added reason to ensure everyone has at least a little Vitamin C on hand!

To make it even easier, we’re also giving a 20% discount on our Vitamin C this month. In addition, you can also get 20% off our Miracle Greens, also high in Vitamin C and has the added detoxifying effect of barley grass.

These are both great medicinal tools to help keep your dog healthy and free of toxins.

Please grab yours for your dog x

Meet our current Advisory Board and QA team!
Romeo, Didi and Meep.

They all take their jobs very seriously. Yesterday they supervised our Golden Buddha Paste production. It was an unscheduled production to cover our many orders from our Lucky Friday 13th sale. Woohoo!

Thank you to everyone who participated! And to all those who shared their Friday 13th connections with me. Some got married, some also born, some dogs also shared my birthday (hello Judy!) and everyone loved the Day of the Doggess! I loved every minute of it.

It was a wonderful birthday and very enjoyable spin around the sun. Here’s to another great spin in the year ahead for us all.

Don’t forget your Golden Buddha Paste. It’s so so good for so many ailments. A natural anti inflammatory amd immunity boost. Cancer, arthritis, allergies, gut health. So easy and so effective. Don’t wait until the vet tells you there’s a problem. Just add a golden dollop to every meal. Easy.

The boys have given it their tick of approval!

Calling all Goddesses and Doggesses!

(DOGGESSES just might be my new favourite word! Although I did make it up myself so I’m clearly biased ;)

Tomorrow is Friday the 13th… it’s my lucky day! I was born on Friday the 13th so every time one comes along I consider it my lucky day – but tomorrow is also my actual birthday so it’s especially lucky to me.

But! Did you know though that Friday 13th used to always be considered lucky? Pre patriarchy it was considered the ‘Day of the Goddess’ (think Freya… yes Freya-day)... so let’s reclaim it! It’s always been lucky for me.

Those who know me, know I love to celebrate birthdays… dogs and humans… and this lucky birthday I want to share the luck with you Goddesses and Doggesses.

From midnight tonight get 24% OFF FOR 24 HOURS storewide. Yep, midnight to midnight. Everything except bundles.

Fridays, 13, both are lucky and together they are especially lucky… especially tomorrow. Happy birthday to me and the luck of the Goddesses and Doggesses to us all!

Be lucky lovers. Don’t miss out.
