๐ฉ Storm Season is Here โ Help Your Pets Stay Calm ๐ฉ
Storm season has definitely begun for many of us, and if your pet gets anxious at the first hint of thunder, youโre not alone. Our pets can sense that sudden drop in barometric pressure even before we hear that rumble, and just like us, they can feel stressed and uneasy in stormy weather.
Signs of Storm Anxiety can be any of the following:
๐พ Pant excessively
๐พ Pace around or refuse to settle
๐พ Give subtle side-eye glances
๐พ Tuck their tail between their legs and flatten their ears
๐พ Start shaking or trembling
๐พ Look for places to hide, like under beds or in corners
Yesterday, we gave our kelpies CB 2 for Pets before the storm hit, and it made a noticeable difference! Instead of trembling and hiding in their usual spots, they stayed close by, appeared more relaxed and they even ate their dinner!
๐ก What You Can Do to Help Calm Your Pet During a Storm:
๐พ Create a Safe Space: If possible, bring your pets indoors and keep them in a safe, enclosed area. Keep windows, curtains, and blinds closed to help muffle the noise and reduce visual stimuli.
๐พ Use Calming Aids: Supplements can help ease storm anxiety. Other calming tools like a snug-fitting wrap (like a thundershirt) or a cosy blanket can also help pets feel secure.
๐พ Stay Close: Pets often feel more secure when theyโre near their humans. Offer comfort without reinforcing anxious behaviours. Sometimes just being present helps them feel safer.
๐พ Prevent Escapes: Pets in panic can act unpredictably. Avoid letting them roam outside, as they may try to escape over fences, putting themselves at risk.
Remember, while storms can be stressful, a few small adjustments can go a long way in helping our pets relax and stay safe! ๐ถ๐
