♦️Jerome Horwitz, famous for playing CURLY in "THE THREE STOOGES", was known to all as a protector of dogs. Curly's contract with Columbia Pictures included a clause that allowed his dogs to accompany him on the studio lot. Columbia limited it to no more than two dogs at a time, this due to the puppies' unplanned on-camera appearances from time to time. You can still see those surprise dog on set invasions in the first few short films. Typically surrounded by various dogs, Curly was known to come home with a stray dog ​​and foster it until he could find it a permanent home. When the Stooges were out on the road, Curly took it upon himself to find a new home for at least one stray dog ​​in every town they visited. Curly is estimated to have saved and rescued more than 5,000 dogs in his lifetime. This makes him a man ahead of his time, with a very admirable concern for man's best friend.❤️

It all started in August 2021. I was looking for a convenient way to travel and to keep all my pets items together. There was nothing available so I decided to create my own dog travel backpack. My inspirations were my two Papillon's, Penny and Miss Moneypenny and the fact that we love to travel. My dream is to create a home for pet travel products.

Pet Evacuation: Are You Prepared?

EMERGENCY CHECKLIST FOR PET EVACUATION ‘

Being organised and prepared during an emergency is an important part of being a Pet Owner. The NSW State Emergency Services have produced a feature with DOGSNSW titled Emergency Checklist for Pet Evacuation.

Here they have outlined what to include when creating an Emergency Grab Bag for your Pets. Be prepared and rest assured your pets are safe with the Pet Emergency Plan and follow up on our Prepare Checklist for more great ideas.

As owners or carers of animals, one has a duty of care under the Animal Companions Act (1988) This is to provide access to food, water, shelter, and treatment for injury/disease for your animals, at all available times. Animals can fear danger, so the earlier the action to relocate to a safer location, the better.

Let’s start with creating the Emergency Grab Bag for your Pets as suggested by the NSW State Emergency Services. This may contain what your pet may need, when away from their home for several days. Ideally use a convenient bag, backpack or box. Keep it in a safe place and advise family of location.

Your Emergency Grab Bag should include:

• 3–7-day supply of Food. Include feeding instructions
• Secure Crate or Pet Carrier. Soft, foldable crates are ideal
• Spare Collar, Leads and ID tag
• Picture of you with your Pets.
• Medicines, tablets, creams with instructions
• Bowls for Water, Food, Spoon, Can Opener
• First Aid Kit with Bandages, Antibiotic Ointment, Flea/Tick prevention
• Favourite Toys
• Treats
• Waste Bags
• Towels, Blankets, Bedding
• Paper Towels, Puppy Pads, Disinfectant Spray/Wipes
• Relevant Veterinary Records
• Emergency Veterinary Contact Numbers

A Pet Emergency Plan can be created to help minimise stress during an evacuation or emergency. When you are developing your pet emergency plan it is advised to consider the following points:

1. Do your research and plan ahead. Discuss with others in your household.
2. Show your plan to the household, your family or whoever needs to know.
3. Animals require access to shade, food, water, and shelter. Consider your relocation place will have all these.
4. For larger animals, think of paddocks with higher ground during floods, appropriate fencing and open paddocks in case of fire.
5. If you need to relocate Pets, consider logistics, location, and accessibility. How will you get there? What transport will be used? Where is the safest place in? Will the place be accessible during an Emergency?
6. Animals may not be permitted in relocation centres. Contact RSPCA or your local council for more information.
7. Evacuation Centres may be available to house you and your animals. Crates are advised for domesticated animals during their stay. Please be aware that only Guide Dogs can stay where people are accommodated.
8. Follow updates on local radio stations for updates.
9. Listen to evacuation advice from all Emergency Services.
10. Always be safe, plan early and do not leave at the last minute. This is the most dangerous option for you and your family.

A Prepare Checklist has been created for consideration ahead of time. These ideas are not only great for Emergency preparation but before you travel or even as an annual checklist.

• Check with your local council in regard to animal welfare during emergencies
• Ensure microchip and council registrations are current
• Have Pet Identification made and put on collar
• Have current photos of the animal so that you may identify the animal and to identify you as the owner
• Have emergency contacts including Veterinary contacts prepared
• Prepare for all emergencies.
• Have your Pet First Aid Kit ahead of time
• Having an Emergency Grab Bag prepares your pets for quick relocation
• Consider the elderly or disadvantaged that have Pets. Have an Emergency Grab Bag created for them. Help them to organise a Pet Emergency Plan and help them follow through on the Prepare Checklist.

Hey Guys!
I conducted a survey on a Facebook group asking dog owners if they have a travel bag for their Dog and if so what did they pack?
