π’ Itβs been a while since I did an update on the turtle pond. Things have grown in quite nicely and the mulched pathway has turned into a green bed of whatever the heck that is π π

π’ Itβs been a while since I did an update on the turtle pond. Things have grown in quite nicely and the mulched pathway has turned into a green bed of whatever the heck that is π π
π more babies pulled out of their cave and into the breeder box π
πMore L134 added to their next stage grow outπ
π Little dudes are growing nicely π
πThree times in a row! Happy days!!The day I moved the babies out of the cave is when 2 females tried to make their move. This fella doesnβt have to do much as it looks like the ladies are lining up. Did notice some slight markings on one of the females so I guess that was the (un)lucky one. Just hope old mate takes a little rest and has a feed because heβs non stop on eggsπ
π Same male got on eggs shortly after I emptied his previous batch out of the cave. Those eggs are now ready to come out and this time itβs 30+ little orange balls scooting around. Letβs see if he can do it 3 times in a row π
π little leopard frogs are growing nicely without any issues or deaths π
π Have got a spare pair of macrostoma available. Born in July 2023. Have had multiple spawns already. Pm for details π
π Spending some quality time with the fam @ Wonga beach. Heaps of blue salmon and good sized whiting around which was fun on light gear. Lost that 2 meter flatty but we will be back to try again laterπ Little dip in a crystal clear creek and some croc spotting on the way home π
π Betta Rubra is a very cool and easy to keep/breed wild betta species. This is a mouth brooding species π
π The spots on these little guys are absolutely amazing. They come from a beautiful breeding pair and itβs showing π
π Didnβt want to disturb them too much during their love making sesh, but old mate is at it again with his hairy little b***y π
π Love having this creek behind my backyard. The water turned into a trickle compared to the raging river we had during the wet season. This time is perfect to safely get out there with my boy and catch some more π¦ for my clean up crew π
π Itβs a struggle to get their true colours on camera but these black lame medaka are insane. Little rainbow disco balls πͺ©π π
π Few more grow outs added π
π Some new ideas for spawning mops. Thanks Yasuyuki Kuroda!! Letβs hope they work! Link on how to make them in the description π
π Another mouth full off π₯. Now he just needs to get good at keeping them inside π
π Goodies from Japan!! π
πCouple of grow outs added. Will have a chat with the missus about investing in another property. Not so much to set ourselves up for the future, but more to accommodate the never ending expansion ππ
πI love how these little leopard frogs are already showing a bit of a pattern π
π This strain is called swallowtail gold lame. βSwallowtailβ refers to the dorsal, caudal, pectoral and a**l fin randomly growing longer spines along their fins.
The word βlameβ refers to the reflective scales on their body. This is something that really shows when kept under natural sunlight π
πlove spending time in the fish room but nothing beats outdoor fish keeping while surrounded by natureπ
πDad did well and the baby Leopard frogs are moving out of the cave and into the breeding boxπ
π Might not be the prettiest, but it for sure is the most convenient. Auto water changes on the outside ponds. And the best things is that the missus doesnβt mind it if I make a bit of a mess. Fish keeping in the tropics is amazing π
π Whenever I get close to the glass, they will come swim towards me with an attitude. Hehe grumpy little buggers π
π Chose to strip the males from the newly formed pairs and will let them try their own thing next spawn. Last time I had lots of swim bladder issues when I raised the fry artificially so weβll see how we go this time. I think itβs about 71 eggsπ
π Finally moved my young pairs around and have got 4 males with a mouthful atm π
π Arts and crafts with my little apprentice. According to my little one, we are building an army of squidβs (medaka mops) π π
π Just moved the leopard frogs to their new home and it looks like love is in the air. Old mate casually changing positions mid session π π
