🤍 A heartfelt gift from Joanne Male 🤍
On a warm day in July, a puppy was born
His eyes bright with promise,
his heart yet not worn
He played with his siblings, he grew and thrived,
Learning to survive in this world he’d arrived.
But fate had a plan, as it often does.
To lead him away from all that he was.
His new owners returned him without much thought,
For when it surfaced, their world transformed
For this little pup carried the mark of the merle gene and they felt very dark.
They shunned him for his unique design,
Unaware of the beauty within his shine.
Misunderstood and cast aside,
The pup with the merle gene tried to hide.
But deep inside him, a fire burned bright,
A spirit so strong, ready for flight.
He longed for acceptance, a place to call home,
Accepted for who he truly could be.
Uniquely himself, without judgement or fear.
So, Alone and deaf at just nine weeks old,
A call went out, his story to be told.
Sherri, with courage in her heat so true,
Took up the chance to give this pup a home brand new.
With open arms and love to spare,
She welcomed him with gentle loving care
A bond was formed, unbreakable and strong
A connection that would last forever long
In Sherri’s arms he felt warmth and security,
And with Lolly beside them eager to leave
To begin their adventures of mystery and intrigue
For Lolly had found a partner in crime.
As this family of three ventured out,
Their bond grew stronger without a doubt
With Sherri, their mum, leading the show
they faced life’s test and Sherri to guide them
Through thick and thin, they stuck together
Facing challenges, all three together
Together this team ran through adventures untold,
Arlo leading the way as their story unfolds.
On Earl Hill they found their stride,
Arlo strength their constant guide.
There little family found joy every day
Arlo felt eager, his plan he could not hide
to show Sherri the gift she held
deep inside,
Empathy for animals in need, a bond to abide.
Arlo’s big heart teaching Sherri much more, this impact one her, a treasure he gave,
A gift exchanged for saving his arse.
Their love and connection, a tale so grand, Arlo could see Sherri’s newfound calling
taking a stand.
They began to learn, no need for words,
as signing was a part of their daily world.
Now upon this beach, his spirit roams,
In the waves, his finds his home,
Where he frolicked and body surfed
with Lolly, his mate.
His pawprints forever etched upon Sherri’s heart
Though they are apart, they will never part
For Arlo was here, but for a short time.
His legacy to Sherri a new beginning in time.
A love so pure Arlo gave from his heart,
For he knew what was to become Sherri’s part.
For with animal’s he gave her a brand new start.
Shaping her art with compassion from the heart.
So let us cherish this tale of grace profound
Of one little pup whose love knew no bound.
Arlo's poem read at his celebration of life.
