🥲Paralysis ticks 🥲

They are everywhere, hard to find and attach to our lovely animals at any opportunity.
A few weeks back we attended the Tick Paralysis Conference with all the latest treatment updates and the smartest vets presenting new research.

Take home message: DO NOT DELAY TREATMENT if you find a PARALYSIS TICK on your pet!!!!

As soon as a tick attaches on the animal, their salivary glands start to grow to a 100 times their dormant size. This means that suddenly there is a 100 times more poison being pumped into your loved pet. But you won’t know the exact moment this happens.
You pet could look fine one moment but unable to breath only a few hours later and fighting for their life.

Talk to us about the latest in tick paralysis preventatives for cats and dogs and if you suspect your pet suffering from tick envenomation take them to the vet immediately.

She came into our lives just before flooding by Cyclone Jasper and had a tough time learning house training. After all, the outside smells were suddenly inside the house !
To anyone with a difficult puppy, it will be ok eventually, they do grow up and they are still so cute while they are learning 😊

Went to an industry Trivia Night - thank you Cenvet for the fun night 🙏😊
Christmas 🎄 in July theme was a bit different!
It was nice to see some familiar faces 😊 and new ones.

We have not posted for a while - anyone who looked after a sick parent will understand how it is.

My father, Distinguished Professor of Hydrobiology passed away peacefully on 26th of May.
He was a well known scientist in Europe and his work is kept in the Royal Library in the UK.
He is a published author.
He had discovered this tiny creature in Queensland’s fresh water and named it Daphniopsis queenslandensis.
It was his life’s work and all the wonderful illustrations are done by hand whilst looking down the microscope. What a gifted illustrator!
He has called Australia home for 42 years and made wonderful contributions to fresh water science, as well as teaching hundreds of students who loved his lectures. He was a wonderful University Professor.
But to me he was just Dad and my greatest supporter, I miss him so much 🙏😇

Our clinic is closed for a well deserved break.

We will re-open in the new year on the 8/12/23 well rested and refreshed 😊

At least that was the plan! A number of emergencies needed our help after the floods already. If we can help we will, but we ask for your understanding as we tackle flood damage back home just a few days out from Christmas 🎄

To all our amazing fur babies and their families.

We were going to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as usual and tell you how grateful we are for your support during a massive 2023.
Then the weather came.
Now I am wishing you safety, something to eat and a warm place to sleep (animals and their humans), and may your power stay on!!!! May you also have dry towels, clean mops and toilet paper - for all the pet parents.
Having personally experienced a mini tornado followed by flooding in a white zone (?!?), first time in 25 years, there is no more to say. I feel for you if you had damage at your place, please stay safe.
