It has been very hot here in FNQ and if we are feeling the heat your pets are as well. Nurse Lisa's pig here Kevin loves a hose down to keep him cool on this hot summer days. Here are some tips for you to keep your pet cool this summer.
🥵During hot weather it’s important to never exercise your pet during the heat of the day! If your dog is used to a daily walk or playtime, do this before the heat sets in (usually before 10am and after 4pm).
🔥Ensuring that all of your pets have access to shade throughout the day and fresh water is vital and should be your first priority for their welfare.
🌡Cooling mats are a great idea for pets too! Leave them in a shady spot and when your pet sits on them, the mat absorbs their body heat.
🌡A simple trick is to also wet towels and leave them around for your pet to sit on when they want to cool off.
🌡Frozen treats are easy to make and leave out for your pet on hot days. Check out some of our easy cool pet treat recipes here!

At Edmonton Vet Clinic and Cattery we look after all animals big and small and oh boy were these little ones small. Baby birds are the cutest things and these poor little ones were found by a member of the public and brought into the clinic to be assessed and then passed onto a wildlife career to be looked after and eventually released back into the wild.

One of Kayla's responsibilities is to look after all your feline friends when they stay in our cattery. Not only does her role include feeding, cleaning and grooming, she provides the much needed love, cuddles and play time with them whilst in our care 💜

Patient if the week is Lola 🤩
Lola came into the clinic last week for a orthopaedic procedure to repair her ruptured cruciate. Dr Jason performed the procedure and today she came in for her weekly recheck. Dr Jason is very happy with her progress so far.
Lola will come in weekly for visits for the next 4 weeks to monitor her progress.
