Halloween is coming which means so are the treats 🍭👻🕷

Although we like to indulge there are many sweets that are not good for your pet. There are things such as Xylitol which is found in lollies. It is extremely toxic to your dog. Chocolate is also another one to avoid as it contains theobromine and caffeine which will cause increased heart rate, blood pressure issues tremors and can lead to death.

There are also many hidden things in sweets that can also be a danger to your pet. Things such as macadamia's, sultanas and additives can make them feel very unwell.

If you think your pet has ingested any of these it is vital you contact your veterinarian asap.

So cute!!! 🐦🩷

At Edmonton Vet Clinic and Cattery we look after all animals big and small and oh boy were these little ones small. Baby birds are the cutest things and these poor little ones were found by a member of the public and brought into the clinic to be assessed and then passed onto a wildlife career to be looked after and eventually released back into the wild.

Happy Veterinary Nurse Day 🩷🐾

Today we celebrate Veterinary Nurse day for 2024. Today we thank our beautiful nurses in our clinic who are fabulous caring people, The value of the work veterinary nurses play in the care of patients is sometimes misplaced in the chaos of daily clinic life.

Our nurses hold your pets paws whilst they are sick, run diagnostics, assist in surgery preparations, performs dentals, provide comfort for pets and families when they are in times of need, monitor anaesthetics plus many more roles.

We cannot thank each and everyone one of our nurses enough for their love dedication to each pet and their family that comes into our clinic.

If you are in clinic today don't be shy and thank the girls for the amazing work they do!

Sensitive topic pet grief 🩷

Many of us share an intense love and bond with our animal companions. For us, a pet is not “just a dog” or “just a cat,” but rather a beloved member of our family, bringing companionship, fun, and joy to our lives. A pet can add structure to your day, keep you active and social, help you to overcome setbacks and challenges in life, and even provide a sense of meaning or purpose. So, when a cherished pet passes, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed by grief and loss.

Your Veterinarian is also able to discuss your pets quality of life concerns with you but we are not qualified professionals to offer specialised help with grief. There are many support networks out there for you that you may not be aware of to help you at the end of your pets life.

🐾Kindred Counselling Specialised Pet Grief and Bereavement Counselling. Training completed through the Association Of Pet Grief and Loss (US). https://www.kcapservices.com/
🩷Lifeline 131114
🐾https://restyourpaws.com.au/ offer some great information as well as quality of life checklists.

We take pet Grief and Euthanasia very seriously here in clinic and do our very best to make you and your pet feel comfortable at such a important stage in their lives and journey with you and honouring their memories. We believe in giving your pet the best possible life that also means giving them the best possible goodbye 🩷🐾🩷
