July 2024 Grooming Course in Brisbane is complete.

They all passed.

It was a lovely day to finish on. The sun ☀️ shone and the students smiled all day.

The doggies all went home looking absolutely stunning.

Gwyneth groomed her gorgeous Sheepapoo Paddington, (an Old English Sheepdog x Standard Poodle).
He had a few mats in his coat, so we couldn’t leave the coat really long and fluffy. But Gwyneth managed to get a 2F 16mm blade through his coat. She scissored his face and legs. He looked pretty cute by the time she finished.

Bec groomed Leo the white Bichon x Shizhu x Maltese. Nice job Bec 👍

Our two Spoodles Henry and Daisy had lovely neat grooms done by Jasmine and Olivia.

Our regular black Cavoodle Nyx had a lovely day with Carla.

Day 3 Dog Grooming Training is complete.

Today we welcomed back a previous graduate, Hayley from Heidi’s Mobile Pet Grooming.

Hayley came for a one day Sc******ng Skills training.
She groomed Charlotte the Cavoodle today and used a blue 10mm snap on attachment for the body and then scissored everything else. Nice job Hayley 👏👏

Our remaining 5 ladies worked quietly and efficiently again today and produced some amazing, high standard grooms.

Day 2 is complete.

They all finished early! 🤩 That’s the first time that’s ever happened.

Today was the day for ‘wiggly’ dogs 🤣🤣🤣
We had our young Cavoodle Meeko who fidgeted all day, but was expertly handled by Carla.

Our two little Maltese x Shizhu girls Rosie and Lily are normally really naughty 😉 but today, their groomers Gwyneth and Bec did an amazing job with them.
Despite the wiggling, the ladies each completed an amazing groom.

Donna also did a lovely groom on Miley the grey Shizhu.

Big boy Tobby and Olivia worked quietly and efficiently together. What a team!

Lastly, Jasmine did a fabulous long 13mm clip on our Abbey the Maltese x Poodle.
Abbey’s mum wanted bare poodle paws, so Jasmine and Carla shared that task.

Today we said goodbye to Donna, who did 2 days training this time and may return later in the year for another 2 days.

It was a busy day as usual. Day 1 is the longest day of the course because we cover all of the fundamental skills of grooming and it takes all day til 4pm.

What a wonderful day we had last Sunday.

Jamie and his wife Lindy brought their gorgeous little Wookie, the Havanese to groom in the 1-day workshop.
🐶
We were joined by Isabelle and her beautiful Moodle, Latte.
🐶
Lindy and Jamie worked well as a team and took it in turns to work on each of the grooming techniques on Wookie.
🐾
Isabelle wanted to keep Latte’s hair long, so she scissored his legs and then blended the body to match with a green snap-on blade attachment.

We all had a lovely day with lots of laughs

Today we had a 1-Day Dog Owners Grooming Workshop here in Cairns

Colleen came with her beautiful white Maltese x poodle puppy Millie.
🐾
Liz brought her gorgeous Bordoodle, Gizmo.
🐾
Millie is a young dog only 9 months old and was a bit nervous about her grooming experience.
Colleen was really kind, gentle and patient with her.
By the end of the day, Millie was much more confident.
Colleen agreed that ongoing, the best way to groom Millie is with scissors; avoiding noisy clippers where possible.
😀
Liz had to use a 7F blade to cut through Gizmo’s tight curly coat.
Gizmo started the day quite anxious, but Liz worked quietly with him and soon he calmed down and enjoyed his day of pampering 🥰

Well done Ladies.
You did well.
You both went away with new skills and an appreciation of how complex dog grooming can be.

Susan came for a 1-day workshop to learn how to groom her Gigi.

Melanie is steaming ahead. She’s doing really well and is already enthusiastically looking for a grooming trailer to purchase.

Today our cute grey floof Koa Bear came for his groom.

Melanie started with a 6mm purple snapon blade attachment, but decided at the end to finish with a 7F 3mm blade.
Koa’s mum likes him short.

Day 3 - sc******ng heads and faces.

The students all rose to the challenge of using all the 5 types of scissors on their dog model’s face today.
🐾
Chris groomed the pretty Lily today, giving her a cute scissored snowball head.
🐾
Scarlett had Charlie today and managed to remove most of his brown tear stains and create a round face and short ears.
🐾
Jenny groomed Meeko our cheeky black and white Cavoodle today. She managed to use all tools and got a nice round head, but she had to remove most of the hair on his paws. He had been chewing his paw hair and had made them all go brown.
🐾
Jack had a challenge today to create a round head with a peak today because Miley’s mum had chopped off her eyebrows! 🥲
Jack had to trim the hair shorter than planned to get the head back in proportion.
🐾
Phoebe made a lovely job on our new model Waffles the cavoodle.
Waffles had bad tear and saliva staining on his face, but Phoebe did a good job and trimmed most of that off.
🐾
Finally, Laura worked with our cute little red cavoodle Ruby.
Ruby has a few health challenges including rear knee and hip problems plus a few large patches of alopaecia. For some reason unknown, Ruby’s hair doesn’t grow at all in those areas.

Everyone did well despite the challenges and all the dogs went home happy and looking amazing.

Lovely work ladies. 😇

Cara’s main problem today (which is a common problem as a professional groomer) was that Georgie’s owner had scissor-hacked her eyebrows and ears, so we struggled to get her head shaped perfectly.

Tracey brought her Toy Poodle Poppy today and did a wonderful groom. She used a combination of yellow and blue snap on attachments and some expert sc******ng. A lovely job indeed 🤩

Thanh brought her gorgeous Cavoodle Nugget and did an amazing groom too. Nuggets little mate Tofu came along too, wearing his ‘cone of shame’. He has just been desexed. He loved his day out with the other doggies 🐾

Katie groomed our little Ruby the cavoodle. Ruby has a bit of a skin issue and her hair is very patchy. Katie did a lovely job of evening out the patches 👍

Waffle the champagne coloured Cavoodle is a new model. It was his first visit to the Training Salon. He was very fidgety and didn’t know any of the rules. Dianne was very patient with him and taught him some manners, as well as doing an amazing groom on him 🤩

Lily our black and white Cavoodle (we think with some Bichon) was lovingly groomed by Catherine. She looked gorgeous by the end of the day 😍

Donna worked with our regular model Leo. Leo is a gleaming white Shizhu x Maltese x Bichon so he has thick challenging hair.
Donna did a fabulous job.

Everyone was amazing. Only 3 days of learning and they all produced 6 beautifully groomed dogs.

What a fun day we had.

The rain ☔️ teemed down outside all day and the dogs turned up all soggy with muddy paws 🐾
But inside the training salon was dry, warm, cosy and full of laughs 🤣

Our 2 naughty little Maltese x Shi’zhu girls, Rosie and Lily, came again for their free groom and gave Tracey and Katie a ‘run for their money’ 😈😈
😂
Our chunky Havanese cross (we think) Tobby behaved impeccably for Catherine and got a superbe groom in return.
😇
Cheeky Meeko tried every trick in the book to get out of his groom with Dianne 😂😂 but she stood resolute and got him finished beautifully.

Miley our Shizhu cross was on heat, but despite her PMT 😂 sat quietly for our lovely Thanh and got a gorgeous haircut.

Finally, lovely Sage the Shizhu, who’s been coming as a model for 3 years now, enjoyed a careful groom and lots of cuddles from Donna 🤗🐾
