We have had a deceased pet brought into our clinic. He is an entire ginger cat, with no microchip.

His body was found in Mt Sheridan.

For a kitten 🐱 like 𝘗𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘢 𝘑𝘢𝘯𝘦, the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 usually takes place when kittens are between 𝟲 𝘁𝗼 𝟴 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱.

At this visit, the vet will administer the first round of core vaccinations 💉, typically known as the 𝗙𝟯 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲.

The vet may also discuss 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸 & 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 🪱 & anything else, depending on health, lifestyle, and risk factors.

🐶🩷 𝗣𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗘 🐶🩷

𝘔𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘛𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦!

Earlier this year Tuppence 🐶 came in for a consultation after her owner noticed she was itchy and had sore ears at home.

Unfortunately, Tuppence had a bad skin infection 😢 that was initially treated with antibiotics 💊.

As part of her ongoing treatment plan, it was recommended that Tuppence had regular baths 🛁 using a medicated shampoo & begin monthly injections to help control further outbreaks.

Tuppence’s owner, who is also one of our elderly clients, expressed during the initial consult that regular bathing would be a struggle for her to do at home alone. Our team completely understood ❤️& came up with a plan!

A few months down the track Tuppence has been coming in for regular baths with our nurses & our vet team customised her injection schedule to line up with these visits….and Tuppence is now 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘂𝘀 😍😍!

Being a dependable part of our local community is important to us, so when we can make a difference in both our patients and clients lives, it reminds us why we do what we do ❤️💙!

We are a vibrant, fast-paced clinic located in Cairns seeking an experienced 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗩 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 to join our team. Our clinic values are moulded around providing gold standard patient and client care, whilst ensuring our staff have opportunities to learn, grow and achieve.

Our team is made up of 8 vets, 13 nurses & a kennel attendant from all different walks of life.

We have a 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, where everyone is on the same team. We support each other, 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 & 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀, and lift each other up on days that are harder than the rest.

Our team, along with our beautiful patients are the heart and soul of our clinic.

🔵 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙔𝙤𝙪:
We are looking for a Cert IV Qualified Nurse that is 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 & 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁. The successful candidate would possess the follow skills:
• 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹
• Take pride in your work, no matter how big or small the task
• 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆
• Surgical & critical care experience is desired
• Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

🔴 𝙏𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚:
• Completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing with 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 & 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 & 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀.

• A minimum of 2 years is preferable.

✨ 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮 ✨

Nurse Tam is known for having lots of furry & feathered family members at home and absolutely adores them all.

Unfortunately, little Milbert 🐦 became unwell with what first looked like a nasty abscess. Nurse Tam knew Dr Tony was the vet for the job!

With the help of our wonderful nursing team, Dr Tony intubated Milbert so that we could X-ray 🩻 him comfortably under a general anaesthetic.

The X-rays showed poor Milbert had a ruptured air sack 😢, causing him all that grief. Dr Tony created an individual treatment plan for Milbert including pain relief & antibiotics💊.

We are happy to report that Milbert is fully recovered & has been enjoying life at home once again! ❤️💙

Fireworks 🧨 while beautiful for us, can be quite scary for our 4 legged family members.

It is important to prepare for fireworks, especially if your pet is known to be scared of loud noises or if you are not going to be home with your pet when fireworks displays are on.

Cairns Regional Council has the following fireworks displays on New Years Eve:

Things you can do to help your pet feel safe during these times:

- Provide a 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 & 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 hiding spot for your pet. This can be the laundry, garage or a part of the home that is secure & somewhat soundproof.

- Administer noise phobia 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 BEFORE the anticipated noise so that they kick in and settle your pet in time.

- Provide 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 such as leaving the TV or radios on to help drown out the fireworks.
